I can remember as a kid being on my uncle's farm when his pig's had piglets. I tried picking them up and the mama pig came after me. I had to hurry up and get out of the pin as fast as my legs could move.

I'm with you, Rebekah, I would be afraid of Beefcake, too. He is huge. And he showed how powerful he is when he broke out of that stall so he could go back to his ladies. Henry was so adorable, watching him pet those cute little piglets. I hope they all survive.

I just realized how massive the pig is when you’re standing next to him. Oh my goodness he is huge😮
You might check out Just a Few Acres Farm, they put up a 4X4 board in the corner with a clearance so that the piglets can go under it to have a safe place to go so that mom doesn't lay on them, also they have a heat lamp to keep them warm.

I thought the same thing. This was very choppy, mid-sentence cuts made it feel frenetic and stilted. Hard to watch. I made it through, but if future videos are like that, I may have to turn it off. It made my head hurt.

Totally agree - hard to follow the storyline and constantly cutting - makes the whole video feel anxious. Not the feel of my typical Rhodes relaxing video.
WOW Congrats to the Mamma pig. & her baby's so she had 11 to start. & only lost 1. I hope all goes well with Beef Cake & keeping him in the new stall. What a fun video this was.
Put a poultry net gate in front of the stall door and turn it on lol. That pig is a beast!!!
Beef cake standing with you guys trying to decide what to do with him was so funny. He was just hanging out. Shows you take good care of them he could be gone if he wanted and chose to stay with you guys ❤️

put the momma and the babies in the barn and put Beefcake in the high tunnel. It will keep the babies safe and the momma won't try and escape because she wants to be with her babies.

I like the steps down to the root cellar. Wow, Josiah did a nice ride down those steps on the bike! Beefcake is sooo big! Pigs are so strong! I think he'll be able to rip any wood door apart. I'm glad you were able to move Fall away from Spring! Yay, 10 piglets and so far they all survived! I'm glad to hear that Spring is a good momma. It was great to see all your kids petting the piglets. Thanks for this video Rhodes family.
I would love to see 30 min segments, especially now with multiple days strung together. Under 15 just doesn’t entertain as much. I know it’s a fine line between putting out content and living life but 1-3 longer episodes a week would be nice.

Congrats! That’s awesome. Our pig just had her first set of piglets. After half of them died from getting crushed or not latching properly we ended up having to bring them in under a heat lamp and hand feed them. Hopefully she’ll do better next time haha

Fix the door and put the pig panel inside to reinforce the door. Maybe make the latch with a 2x4 instead of a tiny piece of metal.

Wow Jason, that’s a big got there. Try using a metal gate so he can see out what’s going on. He’s enclosure it worked for me three years ago ❤️
Maybe you might like to consider the idea which Living Traditions used to section off a corner of the pig section to give the piglets a warm place to sleep, where they are protected from the possibility of the mother lying on top of them by accident. 9 minutes into the video at th-cam.com/video/UFKdadqyBZ4/w-d-xo.html
We had -29f here during the polar vortex, -15f without wind and all my chickens, pigeons and rabbits were unphased in our greenhouses.

Very much so. That kid needs to learn to behave, and that's no way to treat their pig letting him stand on her! Also endangering the little kids by letting him in with the pig that just had babies.

Metal gate and chain to secure door. Put water on a block and strap it to the wall.
Shore up the door with double wood and run stout iron bars or square channel bars, 2 of them across the door, which slide into brackets on either side. That might keep in your boar.
Video was too fast paced. Loved seeing how the farm is progressing with the new piglets. I wish I was 20 years younger.
There's a good reason why most people don't want to raise feeder pigs over the winter -- we did it once. They don't gain well in cold weather, because all their food is going to keep them warm. It might work better with the kinds of pigs that have 'wool,' but I don't know that for sure.

I find the best panels are the Brazzen brand. Very heavy duty and the pig pens will keep them in. Btw thats alot of piggies!

Maybe you could put a couple 2X4 boards across the gate where you had the boar that can be dropped into steel brackets and then the pig may not be able to break out.

Justin- could you put some electric wire around the bottom inside of that boar’s stall so he’ll get shocked when he goes to root next to the edge??
Round up at the O.K. corral. Put electric fence in the stall. or put him back and move the other girl to the stall.
With so many comments you probably won't see mine. However if you put Fall in With Beefcake she would be having babies in July. Sell or raise those piggies. You will have time to breed her again for a January or February berthing. Put Fall in with Beefcake. You will thank me later.
Also if you end up harvesting them it will be in the slower time of the year. Maybe February or March? If I am counting right.
you should get horses for you and all your kids so you dont have to rely on fuel so much and its preper safe too
