Energon is definitely my least favourite show from the Unicron Trilogy, however I do think that FH did a fantastic job with this toy. Energon OP has never really looked that good design-wise, but this toy did try to improve many of the issues with the original toys.
Personally, I don't like either backpack look. Both make the figure look under- engineered. Designers needed to work harder to make this look slick. Yuck.
Well you see kids, Energon Optimus was never designed being able to have backpack options, and Fans Hobby may not be perfect, but nothing is. So please, don't expect something flawless out of everything.
FH isn't really trying to be masterpiece, just more of a modern day Unicron trilogy toyline, even going as far as emulating the type of boxes such toys appeared in rather than more premium packaging.
Some of you guys seriously need to curb your expectations if you think that FH's Unicron Trilogy lineup is supposed to be MP level. How often do you see MP figures made by Hastak and even other 3Ps include a wide variety of gimmicks? Those are designed to be display pieces, not adult CHUG toys like this, hence why they have super complex transformations. Also, Energon OP is notorious for being one of the worst OP designs to date, so expecting FH designers to fix something that wasn't designed that well to begin with is asinine.
