Juan, I went for my first time when I was 60 and I had an amazing time. Thousands of people 40 and older go. People who make videos tend to focus on the young and pretty. I was worried about going because of that but was pleasantly surprised at how many older burners there are. Watch this video..Charlie Goes to Burning Man. He was 81 when he went and loved it so much he made a video about it.
That's great. If you can work it out over time you can do it. First is the tickets which isn't cheap. After that you can manage the rest with some ingenuity. I spend the whole year getting a little bit each month. You don't need everything new.

This is not a normal thing, so don't think about it in normal terms. We have a saying, "The playa provides." So, there are ticket buys throughout the year, but it's such a big undertaking that people bail even at the last minute. BM even has its own STEP program, to securely resell tickets. I have arrived at the Reno airport with a ticket, trying to catch a ride in, and seen people without tickets or a ride find both and get there first. There are lots of Burner communities and camps that can give you guidance and help, older online communities like ePlaya, were you can see if people selling tickets are longtimers, what camps they've been in, if people think they're trustworthy (The code is to sell to you for what they paid, face-value, so jacking up the price or even lowering it too much is a bad sign). They have thousands of low-income-tickets and volunteers get ticket the 2nd year free. There's tons of ways, but it might be incredibly easy or you might have to work hard to make it happen. Like life. The most committed usually wins.
Remember if you are going to Burning man 2018 through Cedarville Calif stop and get some chocolate at Rabbit Trax last gas station before the event. "The Adult CHOCOLATIER will be there again this year!...prices are the same as last year! 😎😍😉

I also can't wait to inhale copious amounts of dust and shit sand for a week after I get home.

I have never found anything attractive about Burning Man. A friend mentioned I should attend once and then make an opinion. I have to admit he is right however as time passes the event seems to become more and more a streamlined posser event and I don't think I could attend with an unbiased attitude. I'll spend the money some other way.
What an idea evolves into and how you choose to interact with it is as either rewarding and genuine or is as 'posing to be...' as whatever form you choose to move toward. Our tribe needs this kind of expression and eye to our shared experience now more than ever as Skynet creeps toward actualization. Perhaps hoo-haw magical mumbo but playing in the dust and energy is a powerful ancient reminder of the creator spark we all share and that fuels us. Get ya some rolling-in-the-sand play time fired-up! :)
The good part of this is all you people who think it's so awful or don't approve of what you think it is, even though you actually know pretty much nothing about it don't have to go. You won't be missed and the event won't suffer in any way if you're not there. It will be better without you.

Truest comment I've read so far Alfonso and I've been watching a few BM vids lately. I've been to a fair few festivals and raves and had good times and bad. Mostly good fortunately! It depends what mindset you have going in. Admittedly the ones I had the best time at were the ones I got completely f'd up
It's not boring! If you can't find something interesting every time you turn around then you just not open to probably the most interesting event in the world. You don't have to use drugs either. Just experience something different. Yes it's a harsh environment, but if it wasn't then everybody would be begging to get in. It will change the way you look at the world... Burn baby burn!
notice most of these vids are set to MUSIC rather than the actual audio there.... probably because the video MAY be too boring i reality..... It is a bizzare event obviously.... they think it is absent of ego, but I doubt that for most part EGO is on display with the get-ups and antics. It is what it is... cannot really dis it cause they have the right and will to do it and attend it.... free country here., well , sorta... less free than it was 30 yrs ago.
