Natarajan is a massive miss. I want him to be in playing 11 as he is doing very well. I also feel Abhishek Sharma should have been accommodated as no one scores quickly than him among Indian openers.
Team selection have put lots of time to arrive good team. I only have concerns with Hardik performance with bat and ball.
Hardik should start bowling 3 overs at least and come up early for mumbai to get back into form. He is too engrossed in captaining the team.
Abhishek Sharma? How can you come to a conclusion just by 1season performance? He didn't even debut for Indian team yet. Directly playing WC will add unnecessary pressure to him. He will get this time once top guns like rohit, kohli retire.
Yes, Abhishek Sharma deserves the place in the evelen, see his domestic performance of 2023/2024, he was the best player with second most sixes and second most highest runs in the tournament but here players are selected based on just IPL performance, If IPl performance is more important than stop Indian domestic cricket... Nattu not selected, this is also a worry in death overs where Ahiskeck Sharma can bat at any place and useful bowler, he is genuine Al rounder unlike Rinku and Dube who doesn't ball in IPL or domestic cricket they got the chance

Some years ago when ind were performing poorly in the 2021 wt20 a journalist asked the then captain virat kohli on replacing rohit sharma to which his response was you'll replace rohit sharma? 😏 Unbelievable! Back then everyone blasted that journalist but the truth was that he was right. This kind of mentality is why we leave guys like rinku singh because for us only names matter. Even now as captain rohit sharma might have recommended some out of form players just because they are his friends.

There are selections like Pant based on prejudice than actual performance..DK and Sanju performed lot better than Pant in past year..He should not have been selected over Rinku..pants strike rate is 120 where as Rinku got 176. Pant needs pitch like Delhi and bowler like Mohith to perform

If there would have been no Rohit, no Virat then selection would have been very easy. We could have easily slotted Gill, Rinku, Samson, Tilak, and others in playing 11.
But since both giants wanted to play T20 WC, we had to change our plans and suddenly move back to the experienced guys instead of youngsters
Sanju Samson has played 25 T20Is batting in top order has 374 runs at an AVG of 18 SR of 133 and most of those runs have come against Ireland Zimbabwe Srilanka,
this guy doesn't have a decent record in any format he has played, T20Is, Domestic T20 , First Class, List A ... , does have a good record in ODIs but has played only 14 innings.
Samson is the very definition of the term Flat track bully , 90 percent of his runs have come on absolute flatbeds. Do a little exercise, go and check out all the 50s he has scored in IPL , not just this year but all of previous years ones , you will find that the avg run rate of in those matches would be north of 10rpo. 10rpo was a big deal till last edition might not be this year. This guy is playing for 12 seasons in IPL , playing in top 3 and never had a 500+ run season, must be a world record
Just comes every season in IPL scores some easy runs , gets thrusted into the team , only to fail meekly , this happens every year. But His PR team is strong so he doesn't have to bother. He is playing domestic cricket from a long time , if he was a good enough batsman, then he must have a good Domestic record. A first class avg of 34 is very telling. West Indies pitches are not e like IPL road pitches , we need proper batsman not sloggers.

It's astonishing to see so many people in comments are counting this IPL as a standard for selection. This IPL is one of the most imbalanced show of cricket with nothing to offer for the bowlers. No swing no spin, a belter track. Wickets are not going to be like this in World Cup. You don't judge a batsman based on his ability in a flat deck, you also need experience in a team to handle pressure situation. IPL performance should not be the only parameter of judgement.

The BCCI should not have made the u turn with respect to keeping out players like kholi and rohit out of t20i. Why on earth they are playing. Might get to a of useless runs and will have great averages but theirs runs will be either too slow with a lot of opportunity cost. In T20 WC, if we have Virat and Rohit - we never win …they were there in last all WCs, India never won any WC with this duo and this is too heavy on MI and RBC players - who are unfortunately bottom 2 teams in IPL (that shows current form)

1. Doesn't make sense to have 4 spinners in the squad. Should replace Axar / Jadeja with Abhishek Sharma & Yuzvendra Chahal with Riyan Parag. Abhishek Sharma & Riyan Parag provide sufficient spinning options while also providing solid batting depth.
2. Pant in no manner has been able prove himself in T20Is with excessive opportunities given. 66 matches ; 22.43 average ; 126.37 SR.! To give context on the number of opportunities given to Pant, Pant has played 10th highest number of T20I matches in the history of Indian cricket! Would have chosen Dinesh Karthik over him.
3. Mohammad Siraj is definitely not a T20 bowler. Aside from Arshdeep, Mayank Yadav is the only potential bowler who has the ability to be a genuine 2nd pacer beside Bumrah.
4. The current squad definitely lacks a bonafide and reliable finisher! No player in the country has the pedigree to match Rinku Singh's ability to finish games.
5. The selection of the Indian team seems to have been done very conservatively and timidly without considering to give opportunities to new but more deserving talent.

India need a finisher who can sail through towards end when team is in tough situation and Rinku has done that may times at international level as well as in in IPL. Looking at our top players current form looks like T20 World cup will be nightmare this year!! :)
This is the bias to select old players and give them place in team. Players like Jadeja, Rishabh Pant are in team just due to bias or some lobby. Virat plays with 120 strike rate in international matches he himself decides team needs anchoring when its not needed. Players like Jadeja is mostly for bowling as he is complete failure in batting and when he fails in bowling he is of no use. Pant has hardly recovered from injury and he hasnt done anything in international T20s.

With Rohit, Virat making 15 and for all practical purposes into the 11, I'm not expecting any different result from past t-20 world cups. Good part is this time they have left out KL, so may be this time, we are better t-20 side on paper than last time, but I don't believe this is India's best t-20 team. Atleast handful of players are still in based on their past reputation/financial-business gains , and would be found to be the difference in India not winning another ICC event inspite of having the reservoir of talent outside the team.

Worst team selection as usual. Rohit , jaddu, hardik and pant not in form. Instead we could have taken gaikwad, axar, rinku and jurel maybe. Arshdeep and siraj are in worst form. Instead we could have taken natarajan and honestly I felt sandeep sharma should have been given a chance seriously, every time he performs but never gets the deserved treatment. He even took 5 for against Mumbai now.

No I am commenting after checking once again.
It is easy to blame Rohit.
And he did perform very poorly in last 2 season of IPL.
But Rohit do have better statistics this year.
And currently Rohit and Jaiswal are the only 2 openers who are playing aggressive brand cricket.
There may be others like Abhishek, prabh Simran but Rohit scored more runs than both of them.
Only Abhishek has better strike rate.
But he didn't have international experienced.
And for the people who have proved themself in international cricket, IPL performance should not be blockade, I am not talking about Rohit now, I am talking about Rinku.
Rinku showed what he can do in the last IPL,
and he proved himself in International matches.
Excluding him just because of the 9 IPL matches is not only unfair But might also cost India the world cup.
Rinku is someone who can score quickly like 20 of 9, 30 of 13.
And he can also play as anchor if the situation is critical.
Or just come in 20th over while chasing and win the match.
There is no one in the 14 member squad who can do that.
Or atleast there is no one who have recently done that(in last 1-2 years).
SKY might be able do that,But he is a top order batman.
So omitting Rinku will prove to be costly in the world cup.

I dont think to take out 8 overs from hardik jaddu dubey would be a good call you need atleast 4 wckt taker in 11. Go with 5 bowlers including your allrounder 6 batters with dubey then you are risking 4 overs from pandya dubey batting till 7 no point in playing bits pieces player have proper batter dubey/samson at 6.
Sanju Samson over KL Rahul is the right call, because he adds lot of guts and glory to this batting side. The winning combination should be Rohit, Kohli, Samson, SKY and Dube.
