    This is my favourite version of the little fugue reimagined as EDM. I love how the timbre of the music rises and falls with the piece's tension. Other versions don't do that and simply apply EDM effects to the piece, or even worse cutting out most of the music so only the melody is left.

      Hey! I'm so glad to hear that! I remember listening to other EDM renditions of bach fugues and picked up on the same lack of detail. I made sure to add the changes in timbre to keep it interesting!

    Bach's music is THE archetyp of Music itself. For this reason in other 300 years he will be still astonishing and modern, no matter if played with mouth harmonica or with set of electronic machines!!!

    I am enchanted by this version... the different registers and registrations created using the synthesizers (all parts are clean and audible). Filtering to adjust the tone. The drum programming (what a lovely surprise) and then the double time feel at 2:52. I was also happy with the tempo, although it might be a little festive for the purists! Thank you so much for this interpretation and the wonderful video.

    this is the best edm arrangement of the little fugue everrr!!!! so many arrangements abandon the fugue structure entirely for just the melody and a few chords, but this arrangement demonstrates such an acute understanding of the structure of the piece with how the production is tailored to the different sections!! every voice line is accounted for! this is such amazing work 💛💛💛

      We played that years ago while our children were small. We all loved it. The recording is now lost and I cannot find it anywhere. Have you any idea how I could aquire a copy?
      We even had a story board that we created for the piece. It started with children viewing an ant moving a grain of sand then watching a bird fly over them then following the bird over the ocean and avoiding a breaching whale. As instruments are added we fly out of the atmosphere, past the space shuttle, the solar system, galaxies and nebule, and as it ends everything reflected in the eye of the girl who was originally watching the ant before she runs off.
      A friend wanted to animate our idea for our planetarium but costs were too high at the time. Hard to believe I can't find it anywhere. Are you sure it was Wendy Carlos? I thought it was. Maybe recorded under Walter Carlos but I'm not sure.

    This is such a joyful and satisfying musical event if you like Bachs "puzzling" creations and the flexible sound of electronic music. As a fan of classical music and of Walter Carlos "Switched on Bach" (1968) I love the feeling when "it all comes together" and the music becomes complete. I can't help associating with the scene from the movie "Close encounters of the third kind" where a few notes from the humans turned into an alien outburst of complex revelation of musical communication.

    I really don't like this rendering, sounds like a cheap commercial jingle. And need to say that this piece met electronic instruments 55 years ago by Walter Carlos using the beast modular Moog, so this concept is anyway far from innovative: Have been a dozen of musicials playing Bach on synthesizers since decades ago. 2 thumbs down.

  • @southernbiscuits1275
    @southernbiscuits1275 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even by electronic standards this is old-fashioned sounding. Switched-On Bach is timeless. This version lacks originality. It relies on an over emphasis of bass and echo effect to "impress". Again, old-fashioned and unoriginal sound. Embarrassingly bad.

    • @tylermorrill6967
      @tylermorrill6967  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Though I agree that Switched On Bach is timeless, I disagree in saying that this sounds old-fashioned in context/comparison with Switched On Bach. SO Bach was released in the late 60s, recorded on era equipment. It doesn't get more old-fashioned sounding than that.
      Originality is subjective, your version of originality is clearly different than mine and personally, I am not here to talk down my nose to you about yours.
      I chose what felt right to me and frankly I am very happy about it, as are the 450+ people who liked the video and I'm sure a portion of the 19k viewers. Thank you for your unsolicited opinion.
