I’ve listened to this 150+ times and I’m still awestruck. Best tenor tone I’ve heard and this piece is just so beautiful. Definitely an inspiration for all saxophonist.
Beautiful sound on soprano, alto, tenor and baritone. And also composer, this is one the best saxophonists and musicians in the world!!! Congratulations professor Steven Banks!!! You are one of my inspirations.
Thank you, Matthew, for this nice note! That is really something that I strive for, so it’s nice to know that it comes through for you. All the best to you.
This is incredibly moving and one of my favorite pieces I have ever heard, but I have one problem with it: I can’t figure out how to stop listening to it…
Truly stunning. This has the makings of a new standard classic for the saxophone repertoire, and more importantly even as such a classic piece that it would be transcribed for other instruments in the future by faithful admirers just as the Rachmaninov cello concerto was so transcendental that it warranted transcription for baritone saxophone. I was already moved by your baritone performance of Opus 19, particularly the altissimo notes. I was holding back and then couldn't anymore and had to let out quite a few tears after reading your compositional story for Come As You Are while listening to it. Thank you for this gift. You are truly a force to be reckoned with and deserve to be brought to the forefront of contemporary classical music interpreters and composers. And I love your beautiful African shirt.
Alejandro!! This is too kind - thank you so much, my friend. I hope you are well. I REALLY love your videos. They put a smile on my face frequently. ☺️

What an epic work! What a pleasure to listen to - I can’t wait for an opportunity to also experience this live. Congratulations, and thank you for pouring so much of yourself into this composition and performance!
The composition and the performance have a great balance of refinement and exuberance. From what I can tell, you definitely achieved the goals of the program note.
Mr. Banks, I just want to say, this piece was absolutely gorgeous. I swear every song you play just has so much meaning to it. I love your Baritone Solo Op. 19 one so much, and this new one has become my favorite!!! My favorite part is 1:35 when you guys are lined up perfectly. Do you ever to have this for sale, because I would instantly buy. Keep up the great work man!!!!!
Kevin, thank you so much! I will, indeed, be selling the score. I have to make some adjustments to the score before making it available, but it will be sold through my website, steven-banks.com.
The piano is too loud and too percussive. Maybe close down the lid, and throw a wool blanket over it? It would soften the noise coming out of it, and the saxophone would have a better time.

Beautiful! Is the score being sold anywhere?

the only reason i know you exist is beacause of music class.
