Parchment paper wouldn't work because it doesn't have wax on it and you need that wax side. You also wouldn't want to use wax paper because it has wax on both sides, and it would stick to the heat press.
You have no idea what you've done for me!!! I have the JoyXtra, which I'm really happy with but now I can do what I wished I could do but didn't think I could - until now!!! Yay!
I buy the felt that is stiff and works well with Explore. I also use cricut felt which is also stiff and works well. Both materials with the deep point blade.
Awesome work arounds. I do have 2 makers , 1 maker 3 , the Joy and the Joy xtra . Good to know if I just have a small piece of felt I can use the Joy xtra. Just a hack I want to mention (not for the joys) if unsure if it will cut thru the material , I load the material at the bottom of the mat and when I send it to the machine, when the mat comes up I move the design to bottom of the mat where I place the material before sending to be cut. This way if you need to check it , it won’t be hidden under the rollers but at the bottom of the mat where it is exposed. So much easier to see. If it didn’t cut you just hit it to cut again. ❤
This is great cuz alot of times I don't feel like digging my maker out lol. Great job I always learn something new here can't wait for your valentine video..😊
You can buy rolls of self adhesive green felt, made for lining jewelry boxes or even pool tables. I haven't tried it, but it should work with a deep cut blade.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I wish Cricut sold felt colors separately. Most times I just need one color. I am going to try the Micheals brand with the wax/freezer paper. I really appreciate you showing us how to edit the cut settings. I didn't even know you could do this. Also, does the rotary blade make it easier to cut?
Can you use the freezer paper with the rotary wheel? I'm asking because I did a felt project. It destroyed my fabric mat. So I'm wondering if the freezer paper would save my mat.
I used Freezer paper,(it also said plastic coated as your brand) and it stuck to the heat press. It did not stick to the felt. I did make sure I put the shiny side down. Any suggestions on how to get the sticky stuff off the press?
I have parchment paper. Wonder if that would work.

@@KaylasCricutCreations thank you so much. Glad I asked!

Taking notes so if I ever do felt, I'm prepared. Thanks for your hard work💕
Thank you so much for watching!! 💗

Good to know that works!! Thank you!
Thanks for such a clear explanation - and for doing the experimentation for us.
I have never made my own cut settings, so I was glad to see that.
fantastic tutorial, wonderfully explained ☺☺☺

I've cut the dollar tree stiff felt sheets with my EA2 no problem (with out freezer paper or anything)
Oh wow!! I'll have to give that a try!! 😀
I read one tip that said to use glad cling wrap in between the felt and the mat. About to try that one out
Update, tried this and it went horribly hahaha. Like laughably horrible. Maybe they meant press and seal? Not cling wrap 😂

I’m having problems cutting felt with my explorer
