Love your informative videos. I'm opening an E-bike Shop next year, Planning a Grand Opening in March/April and taking possession of a 2k sq ft space in January for buildout. The shop is right next to a 40mi bike path so I'm going to tap into the rental market, alongside sales and service. I might pick your brain soon for suggestions and even pay for your consultation.
It's really cool being able to watch you start this from the ground up. Best of luck to you and I look forward to seeing more of how your business grows.
Great video, glad that TH-cam pushed this to me. You are so right about shoes! What a pain in the neck. Very, very expensive to maintain good shoe inventory. Clothing is also terrible for this. We basically only buy on closeout right now, which luckily there's a lot of.
I have a Strava friend in NY that purchased a Duarte recently. Like the design. Instead of buying new bikes I try to upgrade what I have. So, new wheels, components, etc.
support your local mom and pop bike shops! improve incrementally, we are in recession corporations ignore it, its the public that is being affected. I wish you the best1
Shouldn’t you love Walmart bikes? More people who will need service at some point. Why don’t you sell used bikes instead of tying up so much with new inventory?
They do provide a lot of maintenance work but I don’t like how the customers feel frustrated. Normal Walmart bike is between $125 to $200 to fix. When you just paid $150 to $300 for a bicycle and the bike shop guys charges you more, people get frustrated. Not a great customer experience.
His prices are totally reasonable and actually on the low end for good mechanical work nowadays. Sounds like you aren't familiar with the industry. Many shops are doing $90/hr or more.
I don't know what they charge where you are. But car mechanics are $200-$300hr. Bike mechanics aren't much cheaper. People commute on bikes instead of owning cars. 🤷♂️ So their rates seem reasonable to me.

I’m here if you need advice. I could have optimized a lot more in the beginning and ignorance tax must be paid when you don’t know.

I need to start looking at closeout. Thanks!
@2:07 No city bikes with useful features and internal hubs? Are Americans still little Lance Armstrongs when it comes do bikes?
