    Nice . I grew up here in Seattle born in '59 . What a great place to be a kid . My Bro's & I could go downtown to the center on the bus at night to ride the rides at the fun forest and not get hassled by anybody . I wouldn't let my 10 year old kid do that today .

      Thanks for watching! I went to Seattle recently and it's actually not bad at all. There's some homeless in the downtown area but not too much. It's still enjoyable and there's a lot of cool and interesting places. Thanks for the comment.

    Its a damn shame they demolished the Orpheum Theater. That was a very beautiful building. I go by that location every day and it's crazy how much a city can change over time.

    Homelessness in freeway park is definitely a huge problem. Needles and drugs everywhere. Not safe at all

    • @Billcornhole
      @Billcornhole ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m pro needle.
      Controversial take.

    • @shaggybreeks
      @shaggybreeks 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Homelessness is the RESULT of huge problems, such as drugs, untreated mental illness, housing scarcity, etc. IF we gave proper care to the CAUSES of homelessness, it would take care of itself. Leaving needles should be punished severely. Get the CRIMINALS off the street, and the remaining homeless people would be much less of a problem. In Japan, there are homeless camps in public areas, which are kept clean and orderly. At times, they have to move, but the authorities always arrange a nearby destination in advance, and give residents ample notice. The authorities recognize that these people HAVE to live somewhere, and the residents appreciate the order and safety provided by cooperation between them authorities. IOW, they are grownups.

    Hey, at 1st and university, where the harbor steps are now, the street used to go farther west over post alley, on a wooden frame. You can see all of this in the opening scene of the 1973 movie McQ.

    • @Delorean217
      @Delorean217  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben Wolfram Thank you for mentioning that! Yes you are correct... it does extend further, I really enjoy the clips of the movie showing Seattle in 1973. It really was a cool time... thanks for commenting :)

      @@Delorean217 ha, I totally missed that awesome picture of the wooden structure looking up from Western ave. Here is a puzzle, though: look at the awesome pictures at Wandering In Seattle (Google search that) and you'll see the building on the north side of university is gone, leaving a fence along 1st ave (which he has a great color picture of) to keep people from falling off the edge, and down below, there's kind of a park where the building was. Also there are what look like widows in the east brick wall, going up to first ave.

    Oh and that sur la table was a building over when it opened,I think. The current location is where st Vincent de Paul was back then. The Seattle archives have a ton of awesome pictures from the early seventies showing that and a million other cool details at the market...Oh, like the building that the Dismone bridge used to go to, across western ave that burnt down, leaving that parking lot that only this year or last got a new building.

    Very cool 👍 pictures of the Seattle area that I grew up in! -&- I will never forget the "Bonmarche" miss spelled? On 3rd Ave and Like, I was only 10- yrs old and I had to sell Pretzels on the corner, underneath the Monorail for $12.50- a day for 12- hrs a day. For Puget sound pretzel Company. In 1977. I now looking back at 55 yrs old, remember that The City of Seattle was my only home. I now live in Fort Myers FL, and I still want to go back to my home. 😘✝️😇👩‍🦰👍🙏
