Dimash - Autumn Strong (秋意浓) with English subtitles for everything

- Dimash singing "Autumn Strong" in the Chinese television show, Singer.
Its difficult to make a good translation of songs like this because if you do it "google translate mode" i.e. word-to-word, it does not make sense. If you try to do an explanative translation, it becomes too long and hard to follow as one sentence in the original language might take 2-3 sentences to explain in the other language. This is very common when translating Chinese as a lot of meaning can be compromised into just a few characters. The characters generally also take up less space than English words which makes long sentences look shorter.
To make matters worse, this song has a whole backstory tied into it about the Japan/China conflict during WW2.
Because of all this, I have tried to translate it in a way so that the sentences makes sense in English without straying too long from the original meaning in Chinese. If you really want to dive deep into what this song is about, I recommend that you read the backstory. Its pretty easy to find, just google "autumn strong backstory", (btw, autumn strong is a really bad name for this song as its more about the feeling of autumn).

This song is originally composed and sung by Koji Tamaki in the late 80s title “Ikanaide.” However, Dimash executed this song both in Japanese and Mandarin with outstanding performance.

It was further popularized by Hong Kong's Jacky Cheung back in the 80s but Dimash's version is so much better.
The production of this show is just insane. The live orchestra, the choir, the backup singers, the lightning. Plus great camera angels, shots of competing artists, crying and cheering people in the audience. The list just goes on and on. Adding subtitles (and translations if necessary) is also a great thing. China obviously knows how to do a great show.
Well said, I'm amazed how great this whole production was done! Everything about it, I'm in awe. This rendition of this song by Dimash is so hauntingly beautiful especially once you know about the story behind the composition of this song. This song makes me cry everytime.

What it is is that 'Demash' brings something far more than just a song to his performance. He gives some Unique atmosphere to a storey of God's World. like lyrical poetry. I had heard this artist before and thought he was over rated. Then I listened to this song. OMG! I am totally amazed. This is absolutely impressive. I think they there are missing a great deal of his talent by the choice of songs they have him do. THIS really captured more of the scope of his real talent. There are so many songs I envision him singing. Sadly he never will sing those songs. He seems to be more eastern-centric in his choices of songs (rightfully so since he is Kazakh). What do you mean? This is a Japanese/Chinese song, meaning Eastern. And in my opinion his Kazakh and Chinese songs are among the most beautiful ever. First, he is an independent artist and sings what he loves. Secondly, I absolutely love almost everything he sings. Thirdly, he sings in many different genres and styles. Welcome to the magic of Dimash. It was so unfortunate that the pandemic occurred right as his career was about to take off. He is absolutely the best and I was skeptical like you at first but I got hooked the first night I listened to him.
I think these kind of eastern centric songs fit him more. I don't like his English version songs, Maybe because I'm a native English speaker and the accent sounds more comical. Once he masters the accent and pronunciation, he would be unstoppable. Nevertheless, he is stunningly amazing. His voice is like no other.

He's not overrated. He is a brilliant singer. The thing is that he feels the need to show off every. single. time. he sings. Yes, we know you can sing. No need to do runs and riffs and the whole scale of octaves every damn time, dude. Most of the time, it doesn't even fit the song.
That's the only reason I've stopped listening to him. There are still songs that I come back to, simply because of the way he sings them. He has a beautiful voice and does many songs justice. But sometimes, less is more.
I m not going to lie - this is my favourite Dimash's song. I like it even more than "S.O.S" or "Sinful Passion" or "Daidau".

It is just so incredibly beautiful and soulful. I never tire of it and actually memorized it in Chinese so that I can sing it softy to myself and keep the song with me all the time!!!

I am surprised by his voice as much today as the first time I heard it. I'm convinced that Dimash's voice is heaven's version of elevator music.

This is by far, the best song he ever interpreted in this competition. There is no way to articulate how deep he gets into our feelings with this one. And he did not overused his range either...simply perfect❣

Having lived in France and speak french, English and partial comprehension of Japanese, I would reflexively say, "of course" Dimash can sing in Japanese effortlessly because of his ability to speak Chinese, Kazakhstan, Russian and English; and not to mention that his first song was in French which launched his notoriety in China/Russia since 2017, and managed to remain "unknown" from the western media and had already a fan base of 650M before bursting through Europe and America in the 2019.( not sure if my timeliness of his popularity is correct) - anyway all this to write, I really don't think he is too insecure if he's acceptable in the western media or not or whether his language skill is doable when most loud-mouth critics are monolingual... I think he's a legend and truly astonishing artist. It behooves the so-called "greats" wherein lies his success and greatness. Most of the so-called greats are so "generic" and "has been" It's boring 😴 and ooh well... ciao

Cuando Dimashi hace la parte lírica, de verdad que me transporto, igual con los finales. I experienced something similar when I first heard Edith Piaf’s voice in the recordings years ago. I did not understand a word - AND UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING !!!! And she just stood on the stage and sang without any effects "Non je ne regrette rien." The same thing happens when I listen to Dimash. He didn't sing in his native language he performed this song in 6 days he learn Chinese in those days and had to transfer that vibe in a language it wasn't his keep in mind he did it in 6 days.
The ending Dimash gave to this song was perfectly beautiful -- Dimash, the musicians and the song captured to the final notes tfeeling of loneliness and nostalgia so exquisitely as if in one final tear drop. I am dimashed! Bravo!

For those who are puzzled by the fact that the translation into English of the Chinese lyrics here is utterly different from the translation into English of the Japanese lyrics that Dimash sings in his later performance of Ikanaide.
The original song "Ikanaide" ("Please don't go") was composed in 1989 by Koji Tamaki, with lyrics (Japanese) by Goro Matsui.
The song ("Autumn Strong," alternatively "Late Autumn") that Dimash performs here is _not_ the result of translating those lyrics into Chinese! Rather, it is Jacky Cheung's 1993 adaptation of Tamaki's song, the Chinese Mandarin lyrics of which make no attempt to translate the original Japanese and amount to different lyrics with an entirely different meaning.
