So at the End the forth phase of Yami, and after the cutscene when Ammy regains the power of Shiranui,
Two Japanese Symbols came up
照 and 天
One means Brilliant, the other means Heaven.
The first came up when the Sun came out from behind the Clouds
and the second came up when Ammy let out a Howl and then the last boss fight began.
照 天 Means shining sky.
BUT if we reverse those into 天 照
It becomes Amaterasu.
Shivers, man.
That scene there at the end, where Yami is the strongest he has ever been, Ammy is so very weak, and all hope for the world has fled...and suddenly all of the good deeds that Ammy has done are brought to light by Issun, and everyone throughout all of Nippon suddenly realizes how their lives were brightened by this unassuming wolf, and their gratitude and faith just pour into Ammy...
It's the only time that a video game that has ever gotten this kind of reaction from me, and it makes me cry _every single time._ The most beautiful and life-affirming scene I have ever seen in a game. _Masterfully_ done.

It's easily one of the greatest scenes ever composed. Seeing each character realize that Okami, the greatest god, had been amongst them, and had cared to do miracles for them, for even the smallest of things, was the most humbling thing I've ever experienced.

Your comment pretty much sums my feelings about this scene. It moves me to tears every single time as well. What hits me the hardest is how well everything plays for it: the moment which all seems doomed, Ammy regains her strenght thanks to everyone's gratitude and prayers towards her. We know what's about to happen, we're playing for a good ending so something good's got to happen, but we still aren't quite ready for it.
The clouds opening to show the sun reappearing in the horizon and the song playing the moment Ammy howls has such an amazing momentum to it, everything comes in the absolutely right time, I can't easily describe it into words. It strikes me with a strong feeling of hope and triumph, to put it the most simply I can.
Literally, the sun rises again.
I was honestly so happy to see a game in which you level up not from killing necessarily, but from helping the people of Nippon. It's a nice twist from a game that came long before Undertale did.

One of the best games of all times and a stand in for my no.1 game that showcases how games are an artform apart from others. hope we do see some triple a games that dare to do something like that again soon.. never a sequel however. can't top perfection (Okamiden doesnt count)

Let's go one day to the Ise shrine with a pure heart and perhaps you will able to understand who is Amaterasu Okami Sama, not just a simply videogame character, but a really great goddess... Just let me to think this music is beautiful and suppose the composers can consider the purity of the Goddess Amaterasu as a truth.

This game was so beautifully made.I love this game so did my friends.I just couldn't believe it sold more copies in America than it did in Japan at release.Such a unique game!
If Okami ever becomes an animated film I'm hoping this exact theme plays in the intro, it could be a great segway from studio logos onto silent imagery-only retelling of the original Orochi defeat !

The beginning half is the Ryoshima Coast theme and the second half is Reset Thank you I believe :3

The first time I saw okami, I already fell in love with it! The music and style feels so RIGHT! You know it's a great game when you can spend an hour just running around, taking in the art and music

.... I wish modern games till have these types of games.... I like EDM, rap, and ect and all that... But these just feel... More epic, relaxing... And ect but that's just me great job btw
This game was heavily influenced by old japanese culture and the of the religion Shinto. There really hasn't been a game about this type of culture for a while now, but I guess there's Ni-oh. I don't really know a lot about it, but it does have a lot of japanese cultural references. Though it is a dark souls type game. I have no clue about the music...

If you want another gem of a game with Japanese mythology as the focal point, if you have a Vita, you owe it to yourself to play Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines. It's easily one of the best RPGs I've ever played. :)
Games like Skyrim will be old in about 10 years. But Okami. Okami remains eternal.

My favorite part of the game so far was being shrunk and having Issun on Ammy's back. It was nice, and knowing what he actually looks like helps going with his development.
And it came out only two months before Twilight Princess, too, so there's very little chance it was inspired by Twilight Princess.

i will cry everitime when i watch the final boss section, is very emotional for me, i beat the game 2 times on ps2, more 2 in nintendo wii, one in nintendo switch, and i will but this game again for my computer to play this master piece again

Okami and Asura's Wrath were the only two games that have genuinely gotten me to cry through both story and soundtrack. And live to be my most favored games.
Lost Odyssey is one of the few games I've ever played to ever get me emotionally invested in the characters, to the point of even making me cry at one point.
