    The difference between the "rounded" and "elongated" clams is that they are actually different sub-species. Their names are "T. capax" and "T. nuttallii" respectively. I have been digging these clams my whole life and only became aware of this about 10 years ago.

      Thank you for the info I too have been digging them my whole life except of course when I was too little. We always called them Horse clams. I noticed the larger ones are always the round ones.

      I believe the rounded one called gaper clam and the other one goey duck.

      @@Jennifer-gw4ww Nope, not even close. Look at pics of the Geoduck (not goey duck) and a Horse, Horseneck, or Gaper clam. Very different.

      @@seasonaloutdoorswitherin297 That's interesting as where I live they are usually about the same size with the elongated clams having a longer siphon (neck). The largest one I've ever harvested was the elongated sub-species.

    May I ask which beach you went in this video?

    • @seasonaloutdoorswitherin297
      @seasonaloutdoorswitherin297  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Puget Sound Beaches in the Hoods Canal up to Port Townsend area. Follow the regulations to see which beaches are open before you plan on going also call the biotoxin hotline to make sure its safe to eat.

    Unfortunately, digging in eel grass is extremely destructive to that ecosystem. Nice clam though.
