JonathanGD is a popular creator in Geometry Dash, known for his XXL Demon levels such as Dark Travel, Dark Odysey, the Future Funk series, the BuTiTi series, and more. I'll be ranking all his rated levels in this video, and give some of my thoughts on them along with Jon as a creator :)
Now that all that juicy keyword spam is out of the way, I just wanna say that I'm pretty proud of how this video turned out. It's far from perfect but I'd say this is easily my best vid so far. I've slowly whittled away at it within the last 2 months, and most of that went into the writing.
Really hoping to get back into making content and get a new era of higher quality stuff like this (and maybe even throw in a few actually good ideas too lmao). I've improved my audio setup a good deal and might some more still. I'm also trying a lot harder to find a way of reading my scripts that sounds like I'm actually trying. Editing isn't the craziest thing ever but I hope you enjoy the new lil jam guy :) Tried not to overuse him lol
Also thumbnail is made by me. I have no idea how to draw, but I wanna at least try to make more thumbnails like this. Really happy with this one. Like I said tho, biggest improvement (other than the audio quality) is the writing in this so I hope I can get more efficient with that in the future lol.

Now that Monolithos is out, I'm sad to say that I'd have to put it at #6, bellow Future Funk. The quality of parts varies dramatically. Some parts are top 3 worthy easily, while some make the level feel like another Butiti 3, and everything in-between.
My favorite parts are easily the final parts of both modes. If the whole level looked as good as those, this would even have a chance at beating Erou and Biru (maybe, it is pretty short for a Jon level and while the song is very good, it's not my go-to cup of tea).
You can tell the middle parts were a lot more rushed and overall this level feels very uninspired. I hope Jon has a lot more fun making his 15 minute level, and I know that he's capable of WAY better stuff than this when he's inspired.
I have to say tho, Monolithos is very very fun to play. BuTiTi 3 didn't have that going for it lol

Tbf Erou has a similar problem where the quality is very inconsistent. It is less noticeable in Monolithos imo, I agree with the level being very fun (except for the swingcopter but that got consistent). And yeah JonathanGD said he was tired of building Monolithos and just wanted to build his 15 min. level (Real Travel)
Jam i think you should've mentioned that XO has 6000 more objects than The Lost Existence. That's how low object level it really is.
I think the reason Jonathan's levels are so popular is because of the soul put into it. Each one of his levels takes you on a grand journey as big as the one that made it come to fruition. A love for creating is present in each one of his works whether dated or not.
Also the little jam oc is such a funny goober protect him at all costs.

Agreed. Simply amazing of how Jonathan grew so much as a creator, a skillful player and a content creator he is as well. He's truly amazing at what he does and makes in the community of this game.

I was gonna create a JonathanGD creator review like 2 years ago but I never got it past the scripting stage so its good to finally see such a high quality ranking of his levels. Good video!

I played red rescue team and explorers of sky and I really liked those and I hear super mystery dungeon is pretty good
I remember when Biru came out and I would play it a ton, I enjoyed the sync it had a lot. I wouldn't beat it until last year, and luckly the extention wasn't too bad to deal with. Hyped to see the ranking later :)

Fun fact, the first thing I saw about gd is a video of dark Odyssey and that's how I came to know about gd and how I started playing this game. This level is in high regards for me just in that case but really it's a good level. Also great video btw you sort of have similar opinions as I do

Super Mystery Dungeon is one of my favorite games, I highly recommend it.
i cant even begin to comprehend how someone out here can have the patience to spend 2500 hours building one level
the highest editor time i have on a level is 115 hours across 3 months and i was more than fed up with it by that point

the only good thing about butiti 3 is that the nexus completion looks pretty cool
To be honest, Butiti II is like my Top 2, it's better than any other level (except Dark Odyssey, my favorite one). It's fun, unique, and… weird in the best way possible.
Erou is not even close to my Top 5, it's beautifully calm, tones of mind-blowing effects, but… something went wrong.

I personally don't like Biru bcoz of my experience with it ( I cannot tell you how many times I've nearly fallen asleep) but I do respect the effort that went into it .
And Ofcourse HANDS DOWN Dark Odyssey best level from him.
It's so good and nostalgic , no cap i felt emotional during the last part .
Definitely in my Top 5 favourite levels of all time!
Overall I'm a fan of Johnathan's work
me enjoying biru does appear to be a hot take
I replayed biru while doing a 1 attempt challenge , and it was really enjoyable and calm . Turns out slow levels works well when you're not trying to beat it & it's just to experience it .
The only thing I could hate in Jon levels most of the time is not the gp, not the deco, but man the coins are brutal

Butiti III is definitely the hardest JonathanGD level, so not as many people have tried it, but I really like the effects and gameplay, and how it stays true to the series. The part with a lot of lag holds up really well today, as well as a lot of other parts such as the mini cube reminiscent of the 80% ball in Butiti II
Jonathan literally spent 100x longer than I did on my biggest level than on his, his time dedication is admirable

So glad to see Biru not forgotten about. Biru is a top 3 level for me, and I think that the level is one of Jon's best levels just for the fact that he was forced to use one color and he still managed to keep it interesting.
yeah it's really underrated imo. The theming really brings it up and the atmosphere is amazing

am i the only one that absolutely loved future funk? not talking about the second one, it's.. scary. future funk was pretty nice, not anything exceptional and after spending 4000+ attempts on it, it's one of the only levels that i've never gotten tired of becuase it's just pure eye candy, it has a general theme and really nice background/effects, it's gameplay is honestly too satisfying, it's pretty balanced (except for 99%, whyy). Really nice video tho, loved your editing :D

I don't have time to read all of that now but I've seen a lot of people say I should play it so I'm definitely putting that on my list
Honestly I love the darker atmosphere of Butiti III, along with its glitch theming throughout. It's almost a complete 180 from the goofiness of the first two, whilst keeping the neo digital aesthetic.
oh the earlier parts are actually pretty good but it just really falls apart later on
I don’t know what exactly it is about his levels, maybe the duals, the endurance needed to beat his levels, or the decoration that is you can tell what objects made it yet still are unable to piece together how it’s made, but even after 3 years of trying on mobile, and still only 3 demons, I still have yet to beat Future Funk II, or any of his other levels, and I still love playing every single second of it. Call me bad or whatever you want, but I have never had any other creator, player, or other such figure influence me as much as Jon has. If you aren’t aware, he streams his level building nearly every day, and you can get some great insight on how he works and it’s truly amazing to watch him as he slowly brings his ideas to life. Never more have I loved looking at levels than when they are built by JonathanGD, and while there are other creators that have similarly put together levels like bli who are no doubt as great as JonathanGD, there’s a certain fullness to his levels that I can’t see anyone else replicate.

JonathanGD's levels actually introduced me into enjoying songs made by onefin, and it also influenced my interest in PMD. Just knowing about these kinds of levels made my life for the better.

He's truly amazing at making his stuff and how we grew so much as a creator, player and a content creator. His levels truly hits some of us hard in the feelings that we've never felt. Even for me of having an imaginary moments of being in one of those levels by myself or with him, like an adventure when more of the song kicks in and what he made of his designs. Honestly, i think Jonathan makes really good looking levels, but man that gameplay is bad. Its just so monotonous and boring, especially in his easier levels. Also why does always put skipchecks on his orbs, just WHYYY, like half the time it doesnt work unless you time it in a very specific way

We're roughly the same age, we both make music, we both have TH-cam channels of primarily GD content, and I'm guessing we're both on the spectrum. You're like if the government cloned me but gave me buffs so I could make pretty levels and good video essays. Freaky
Very good video man! Jonathan’s levels have really been sort of hit or miss for me. While I like some levels like Erou, FF2, Butiti II, The Farewell, Dark Travel & Odyssey I really don’t like how unbalanced the gameplay difficulty is on a lot of them. I hate Biru because it plays like an Easy Demon at the beginning but 2-3 minutes in it shifts to a Hard Demon. Also the 99% troll trend was horrible & completely ruined some of his mid career levels for me. Thankfully he has stopped doing that now as well as verifying his levels himself. Gameplay is an important aspect for me though & although some of his levels may be masterpieces deco & mechanics wise, some of them play a bit like garbage. My favorites from him are Erou, The Farewell, Monolithos, & Butiti II because they avoid these complaints I have with the gameplay. Butiti II does have worse difficulty progression, but the ending isn’t terrible & it’s an Insane Demon so I’ll give it a little more slack. Jonathan’s levels are always really special though & I’m excited every time he releases a new video about them. I have distinct memories about when he released levels like Dark Travel, Future Funk II, Erou, & Butiti III. I’m excited to play Monolithos when that releases since just like his other Easy Demon levels, it actually falls into my skill range unlike all his others.
yeah his balancing isn't for everyone, although I find it's a lot more fun when you practice his levels a ton

By the way, this is my favorite video of yours so far. You had confidence in your opinions, gave room for vulnerability when you saw it was necessary, and acknowledged the popularity that JonathanGD has. Despite more than enough people appreciating him, I can see from the video you have a connection with him no one else can have.
I really like how this video was written. Some jokes here and there, but also some serious, heartfelt topics. It's a difficult balance to achieve, but you pretty much nailed it imo.
Jonathan's levels are truly something unique, for better or for worse. And there's definitely some that outshine others. But in the end they're all good levels, even if the gameplay isn't the best at times. You can just see the effort put into them and it makes them quite memorable.
And while his creativity certainly plays a big role in what makes his levels great, I especially find the music to be of great importance. Best shown by Onefin's songs. They fully immerse you in the experience the level is trying to replicate. One of my favorite music creators, without a doubt. A bit of a shame that for a while this led to his videos getting flooded by GD players talking more about the level than the song.
Also, on a sidenote, you should definitely play PSMD. The beginning can be a bit boring and long-winded. But once you get out the first village, things get really interesting. Also fantastic music that you could listen to for hours. My favorite game ever.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of Jonathan's gameplay but I must admit that he puts a lot of effort into his levels and that's admirable.
I like Jonathan gd because he is indonesian and im indonesian too
Jon has single handedly got me interested in Indonesia and from talking to him he barely knows anything about Indonesia
Future Funk II also has the worst 98% jump in gd history
I've seen worse
I like the darker tone of Butiti III, and the glitchy theming, but it doesn't feel as "eventful" as Butiti II. Butiti II had the vocal parts with lyrics, the Juniper house and bossfight, the throwbacks to the first Butiti, and the classic rainbow duel. Butiti III has a rainbow duel too, a nice visual with the dash orb after the duel, and a cool part where the OG Butiti block is just chillin, but compared to Butiti II, there's not a lot of stand-out parts that really cement the level in my mind. It's less like a Butiti II sequel, and more like a darker remake of Butiti II.

I'd say Butiti II and Future Funk are my favorites. They were the first JonathanGD levels I discovered, and are still unlike anything I have ever seen in GD. For years they've been my favorite levels in the whole game and still are :)
Hot take, but I really do not like Dark Odyssey all that much. The decoration's INSANELY good, I'll give it that. But the gameplay is incredibly inconsistent, and it caused EVW to stress out a lot while playing it. It's the only demon level that I've beaten that I hated grinding; I typically enjoy my time with demons.
Future Funk I/II, Biru and Lost Existence are MUCH better levels and are much more consistent, hence my love for them.

I had fun with the level but I also got really lucky and fluked it. Overall I like Jon's levels better that have a focus on atmosphere.
