Great video. I like the flash. One day I will probably buy a lightening. I would love to see ford make a plug in hybrid F-150 and not charge an arm and a leg for it. $65k-$75k for a nicely equipped xlt or lariat plug in hybrid would be so sweet.
Not sure if you like Ram trucks but check out the new Ramcharger. If Ford could make something like that but more affordable it would be a big hit. For 90% of use cases you don't need more than 250mi of battery range. An integrated gas generator can fill in the gaps to solve the towing range problem.
Thank you for the video. The flashes the model I’m waiting for, but I’m also waiting for the Tesla plug so I don’t have to mess with the adapter or the awkward parking at the superchargers. Great points. I still believe in Ford as a company. I’m buying a Sierra EV, but I’ll always be a Ford guy at heart. Ford missed the mark somewhat with the Lightning - the main problem is its charging speed, and that’s not something they can fix with the Flash. But as Ford holds off to 2027 with its next-gen, I believe that they will catch up in the long run. The F150 is the most popular vehicle in America because Ford has delivered what people want for a price they can afford. The shift to EV technology may have created a challenge for Ford to overcome - one that they aren’t currently the class leader in - but in the long run they will prevail. I bet in 10 years I regret not waiting until 2027 to buy my truck, but at the moment I can’t wait that long.
After test driving both Flash and Lariat, I gotta say: the Flash just feels so cheap on the inside and I couldn't stomach paying $60k+ for it when the Lariat is only $7k more 🤷🏻

Lightnings are amazing, I love mine, they’re just too expensive for most people. Only reason I got mine was there were so many incentives with an end of the year model. Msrp is insane on these.
Thanks for the first decent overview of an actual 2024 F150 Lightning. I wonder why Ford just didn't include the J-3400 / NACS adapter with new deliveries as opposed to having customers order it after delivery of the truck.
It sounds like a simple fix, but both the manufacturing and logistical changes just don't move very fast and are complex. Multiple companies including Ford are having issues trying to have NACS adapters in stock and that should be a much easier thing to get right.
Unless your claiming ford is bringing back the v8, which you’re not, it’s insulting to even pretend this ev will do anything to get ford to bring back the v8. This is just another lightning that will lose ford tens of thousands due to fords piss poor management and allergy to giving buyers what they want. Not surprised gm sells more half tons
Ford should have put the NACS connector on the truck so new customers are NOT buying OLD outdated equipment for the North America market. This goes for all new EV'S in North America.
The market for electric vehicles is shifting. Early adopters and enthusiasts have all already gotten their vehicles and now they need to start focusing more on the mainstream. Building Halo electric vehicles is fine but you're never going to sell those in huge numbers long-term. This is a new industry and manufacturers will make mistakes but will learn as they go and everything will be fine in the long run.
I love my lightning pro, I'm really glad I was able to get it. VW should have to do a second pass on their Electrify America system, it's a disaster. I haven't used it yet, for fear of exactly what you just ran into. I ordered the Tesla adapter, so hopefully when I get that I'll be more inclined to take the truck on longer trips.
they should put the charge port in the same spot as the gas trucks, it would save even more money since they are already producing the parts for the gas models
Tesla practically owns all of the "gas stations" currently for EVs. they are light years ahead of the competition. That is one of the biggest setbacks for all legacy auto makers transitioning into EV
@@craizygolf1980 there is 282 million cars on the road. If everyone drove electric you don’t think there would be a charging problem? You would be waiting hours and hours for that charge lol
@stephenritter586 ur telling me u drive 350 a day... ? I used to be a concrete crew leader and drive 2000 a week, but my question is, how many do u drive a week ?
I currently own a 22 Lightning and that would be a big issue today with the charging infrastructure. There's more on the road today than there were last year at this same time and were going on vacation next week. I'm not looking foreword to the charging experience during this time because most of the us will be on vacation also and guess what.....More ev's trying to charge and basically the same amount of chargers as last year. I do have my Tesla adapter so I have the option to use those, but pretty much every ev manufacturer will have access to those also in the coming months. To top that off, Ford nor apple has routing to these tesla chargers to automatically route you to them, so you have to manually add them. Ford needs to get with the program and update your maps ( I can't use charge assist while driving so that really doesn't help) and also if the charging stats are on the 24's why haven't the previous vehicles been updated with these features? Are ya'll listening Ford? I'm thinking Tesla should have charged all the auto makers that wanted to get on their network a fee to help expand the network at a faster pace since they can do it like no other charging company.
Give me an EV lightning with 500 mile range, quick charge (200 miles in 15 minutes), and no blue cruse. oh, and for under $40k. otherwise forget about it.
It's physically impossible to make such a large battery for a big truck for that price. I wish they get at least 400 and then I could eventually buy one used.
The fact ford apparently partnered with chargepoint shows me they are clueless. Their dcfc offering is slow and clunky compared to others like delta, or autel
not cheap @ $0.36 per Kw., like telling the kids to eat at home before the trip because we aint eating till we get to Grandmas. And if we do stop, its only for a snack.
Good video. Nice to see they updated the F150 Lighting. I see these on the road occasionally. Having access to the Supercharger network is a game changer for us. I own a '22 Mach-e with over 34,000 miles and do not plan to ever go buy a new ICE vehicle again. My wife and I just completed three separate road trips and found the vehicle perfect, even in the 115-degree desert. I'd love a Lightning, but don't have any need for a full-size truck anymore.

I like your videos but the laughing is annoying.
I’m still waiting for my adaptor. For 6 months now
Unless your claiming ford is bringing back the v8, which you’re not, it’s insulting to even pretend this ev will do anything to get ford to bring back the v8. This is just another lightning that will lose ford tens of thousands due to fords piss poor management and allergy to giving buyers what they want. Not surprised gm sells more half tons
Bring the cost down to about 40-45k
I mean I’d take an ev, if it was gave to me.
Your a braver man than me.. I'm staying away from them entirely. I love my combustion engines.
I would too. And sell it the next day.
Same here. Been married 23 years. Wifey said immediate divorce if I ever came home with an EV…..my marriage is definitely safe.
Ford should have put the NACS connector on the truck so new customers are NOT buying OLD outdated equipment for the North America market. This goes for all new EV'S in North America.
I have a 2023 lariat. $10.50 for 530kms.
Won’t get one until they come with NACS natively
Why is he pronouncing buc-ees that way😂
The market for electric vehicles is shifting.
I wish they would make a small EV truck.
Could you imagine how bad the charging problem would be if everyone was driving a EV
If u charge ur vehicle right, u shouldn't have that problem
@@craizygolf1980 there is 282 million cars on the road. If everyone drove electric you don’t think there would be a charging problem? You would be waiting hours and hours for that charge lol
@stephenritter586 ur telling me u drive 350 a day... ?
@@craizygolf1980I drive 600 miles to work twice a month from East Texas to West Texas
The Lightning seems to be selling well enough as it is, but give me an EV Ranger or Maverick instead. I don't need a tank to cart stuff around.
"give me a Superduty with 20k towing, 20+ mpg , no def, and under $40k. Otherwise forget it"
The fact ford apparently partnered with chargepoint shows me they are clueless.
Remember…. This guy is a dealer. EVs are toys…. nothing more
Yes, they're toys ... that make twice the HP and torque of your V8, while costing 5X less to operate in town. My kind of toys! 🙂
