He's got some tough going against greats like Koji Kondo. But yes, he should totally just score an album based off tracks from existing Mario Kart games and send it to Miyamoto.
Ive thought for a long time that Cory would make a legitimately perfect soundtrack composer, whether it be for a video game, or an anime movie, or anything like that. He has such range and ability to compose for so many styles! Hearing him talk about wanting to do a score for Mario Kart just solidifies this opinion.
I realize that I'm probably the only person who feels this way but let me say this. I LOVE Cory, and I LOVE the Vulfpeck with all of my heart, but if I could choose the one person to be friends with (assuming I had only ONE choice), I would pick Petar. He just seems like the coolest guy ever, and somebody who would be a great friend no matter what. And then there is the whole awesome-at-playing-drums thing that he does, too! I got to see Cory and the Wongnotes about a month ago in my city, and Petar was the ultimate hype-man! Not only was he being the rock, and the metronome, of the band, but he was also playing the role of wing-man! Any time that he felt the audience wasn't appreciating the music hard enough (and believe me, we were appreciating it HARD), he would do whatever he could to motive all of us to clap, cheer, and go even harder than we already were! I realize that probably none of this makes any sense by now, but dang it, I love Petar, I love Cory, I love Vulfpeck. I'm just so happy that these people exist and make music for me that makes me happy!
The level of sophistication, musicality and irony is at 11 here. I'm so happy Cory Wong lives and works on this planet. You should get JD Ryznar, Hunter Stairs, Steve Huey and that guy to run the 'Yachtski Scale" on this.
It's not as detailed as On the One but you can get some more information on how they recorded Turbo in the Wong Notes Podcast with Henrik Linder, that you can access for free on Premier Guitar website.
…and then you do it all live, and none of this really matters.😎 The band and arrangements are beyond killing it, and I’m sure you have waaaaay more fun. I know I do.
How many times has Petar seen Some Kind Of Monster? I re-watched it again the other night and already I’ve forgotten most of the quotes. Unreal SKOM recall dude. Respect.
The good thing to come from the EU tour being delayed is that I now get the chance to potentially see this masterpiece of a song live. Let's freaking go!!!
Thanks for this episode Cory! I've been listening to this song a lot the past week, really cool to see how it got together. Also love the sound effects lol
ur the best cory! so hyped for this album, the vibe is tops. these videos diving into every track are super interesting and helpful as an aspiring amateur producer!
I love this behind the scenes tour of the track!! One thing struck me as very funny...many things are created digitally and then we press it on vinyl for ... what actually? To listen to something analogue? lol
Absolutely love how rough that guitar solo track looks!! That wave peaking throughout, but knowing that was THE TAKE for the tune so surely you buffed TF out of it to use it haha. Yall Rock!!
12:45 I learned this melody by ear recently, playing with double stops on the G + B strings with the root + 5th. I thought something was wrong with the sounds, turns out it was just WONG
For the David Byrne percussion sound, get an old brake drum (they fit great on snare stands) and find a way to mute it for the quick decay. Classic percussion ensemble technique yoooo.
I'm a musician and I don't mess with software at all and this is all pretty gibberish to me I'm trying to follow along. I really enjoy these segments Cory they are educational. Just this year I finally got a microphone SM 57 and SM 58 so I'm learning the basics. I'm still staying away from the software though.
Ahhhh I was there in San Diego for your show and I played Morley Field that weekend as well! Would have blown my mind to see you guys out on the course
Cory I love your music! Just want to give you a heads up that Trail Songs Dusk isn't available on the iTunes Store in Canada. It is in Apple Music, but not the iTunes Store for purchase. All your other stuff seems to be there, but just this one is missing. Might want to fix that. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Thank you for giving insight in how you soundscape a great track :) Recently bought a base because of Joe Dart and now Cory is giving me these insights to overdub etc. Been trying to produce music for so long (pianist), and with these guys as an inspiration its the first time ever I have a feeling its going somewhere
I would buy whatever Nintendo system the kids are buying these days and let my kids play Mario Kart all day just to hear the soundtrack if they let you guys do it! Someone get a Reddit movement going and make it happen!
Dude biggest surprise of this vid is that you haven’t created movie music. Next time there’s a retro cop drama. Bring back Chips or TJ Hooker! Streets of sand ran would be awesome.
Those are actually in-ear monitors, which do act as an earplug of sorts but also allow him to hear the mix on the computer that he's working with. You'll notice that Petar also has a pair in so they can both listen in.
Here's the thing Corey. You keep throwing around that disc golf flex. What the people want to know now is what are you throwing? Who are you watching? Discraft Chad? Classic innova enjoyer? The people demand to know
We've all been saying you would crush a Mario Kart soundtrack for years cmon man
Put Assassin on the pitch reel, job done.
@@AndrewBakke exactly

With a little help (not needed but still) from Dirty Loops and I think it would be something epic
NBA JAM would be dope!

I love the drum sounds from the track being played while Cory gestures explaining the drums.
Yes! Like the legendary Rowan Atkinson sketch 😂

zawinuly makes me happy. This whole tune makes me think of my junior year in high school. In a good way a really good way. Aloha
Steely Dan loves this song as well. I really felt like the whole song was an homage to peg
Imagine if Cory or vulf getting Donald to do Vox and Rhodes on 1-2 newly produced tracks?
Then I could die - seen and heard it all.
love Petar 😁 the GOAT
An episode of "on the one" for one of the songs from Turbo would be super dope!
It's not as detailed as On the One but you can get some more information on how they recorded Turbo in the Wong Notes Podcast with Henrik Linder, that you can access for free on Premier Guitar website.
Can't wait for the future Mario Kart track G sus & the Manger. We'll be waiting...
Been listening to Smokeshow on repeat since it came out. Absolutely love it! Love your music Cory! You're the best and keep it up! :D 💪
I’ve been listening to Smokeshow on repeat while working on all my final papers. Such a fun and atmospheric tune!
Cory Wong is my favorite dude that there is in the world
Wait, Cory Wong is a disc golfer?!?!?!? I did not think I could love him more!!!
petar's glasses in this one are dope
22:27 I love the Vanilla Ice reference! He's a freakin GENIUS
…and then you do it all live, and none of this really matters.😎
The band and arrangements are beyond killing it, and I’m sure you have waaaaay more fun. I know I do.

I enjoy these videos about as much as I love the music. Love the insight to how it all gets put together and see you all cut up over it. Love it.
CORY OMGGG!!! Absolutely adore this track
I love this, definitely would watch an entire series of these. Cool way to do a behind-the-scenes
And now here I am praying every day and night that the universe makes a Donkey Kong vigeo game with Cory Wong on the soundtrack happen
The good thing to come from the EU tour being delayed is that I now get the chance to potentially see this masterpiece of a song live. Let's freaking go!!!
Loved this!
On the one for any song from the dirt loops collab please!
I was blown away by this tune when I first heard it! Stoked to check out this breakdown! I really dig the drum sounds
20:02 Love Cory all the more that his mind goes to 'crazy sesame street character' ^_^
22:44 "I love the repetition"
Have you heard the good news sir?
"Repetition legitimizes"
-Adam Neely, some time in the 21st century.
Great to see you here, I MISS YOUR PODCAST, I can't WALK without that! I'm gaining WEIGHT!
Thanks for this episode Cory! I've been listening to this song a lot the past week, really cool to see how it got together. Also love the sound effects lol
That’s a proper guitar solo!
ur the best cory! so hyped for this album, the vibe is tops. these videos diving into every track are super interesting and helpful as an aspiring amateur producer!

Oh man, that solo solo'd. That was a beautiful Peg homage.
Petre,Petre...koja si ti faca zapravo. :))
Missed these!!
This Cory guy is producing a crazy amount of music and content. Very impressive. And great music.
Hello Cory, thank you for this actual 'class' for how do you make music!!
This is nuts!
Loooooove Smokeshow - thx for posting Cory!
Absolutely love how rough that guitar solo track looks!! That wave peaking throughout, but knowing that was THE TAKE for the tune so surely you buffed TF out of it to use it haha. Yall Rock!!
on the one!! 😍
I learned a lot from this video. Thanks for pulling back the curtain a bit!
12:45 I learned this melody by ear recently, playing with double stops on the G + B strings with the root + 5th. I thought something was wrong with the sounds, turns out it was just WONG
Wicked track and dope solo. Thanks for the breakdown.

Cory I looked up that Versace video and the very first song was a Steely Dan song, pretty good and funny pairing by Jack
Specifically "Do it Again".
Ahhhh I was there in San Diego for your show and I played Morley Field that weekend as well! Would have blown my mind to see you guys out on the course
Welcome to "On The Wong", my name is Cory One
I love absolutely everything about absolutely all of this. Fucking brilliant.
My order is in!!!! Again, I will say, I feel like I'm in a Mervyn's shopping for school clothes.
THAT's DOPE!
Cory I love your music! Just want to give you a heads up that Trail Songs Dusk isn't available on the iTunes Store in Canada. It is in Apple Music, but not the iTunes Store for purchase. it's mine :)
i love u cory wong you are my inspiration
I would buy whatever Nintendo system the kids are buying these days and let my kids play Mario Kart all day just to hear the soundtrack if they let you guys do it! Someone get a Reddit movement going and make it happen!

Cory just needed a trigger because the kick sound was so good that the real sound would have caused everyone to cry. very considerate.
You guys say Phil Collins for that industrial sound, but it really reminded me of Lay Your Hands On Me from Peter Gabriel's Security
6:44 "David Byrne, Talking Heads..." - vibe reminds me of some Nik Kershaw moments! (All good!!!)
So great to see these videos of you guys explaining your thought-process. One question though: Whats with the earnplugs Cory? You have them on always?
Those are actually in-ear monitors, which do act as an earplug of sorts but also allow him to hear the mix on the computer that he's working with. You'll notice that Petar also has a pair in so they can both listen in.
let's gooooo
all jokes aside archetype cory wong is incredible im using it on every tune for my upcoming ep
I love over to my wife to say “I want to try Cory Wong’s course” and instead say I want to try Cory’s Wong.
Here's the thing Corey. You keep throwing around that disc golf flex. What the people want to know now is what are you throwing? Who are you watching? Discraft Chad? Classic innova enjoyer? The people demand to know
God i love this
Damn good show sir
look at those chairs!
Is Petar from Serbia? if so, is he a Nuggets fan or a Mavs fan?
🔥🔥🔥
Come play in the SF Bay Area!
I was wondering why I got a “late 80s early 90s talk show network drama” vibe after multiple listens, and Petar nailed it. Mike Post collab plz‽
can we get one the one for follow the light? PLeeeeeaaaaassseee!!
is "d aug & the kennel" still available. i got a husky that could be a great singer

You Guys are bringing so much good mood in the morning, thank you 4 :-), but the coffee pot looks not very stable on keyboard :D)
Cory please share your Tiki playlist!
Agreed!!
dude, you would absolutely crush Mario Kart
Is that the studio where John does most of his awesome mixing, or is that a different room?
yup
You should post a video on Saturday that is literally just a g sus chord
Hastratta absolutely screams Mario kart or Mario Odyssey. A Cory Wong Mario soundtrack would be incredible
This tiki playlist needs to be for public consumption
Just spotted the Helix!!
There a hint of Chris Rea, On The Beach somewhere in there. But man this is another fab track from Cory.
Cory for the new Mario Kart soundtrack !!!!

Gsus : the holiest of all chords
Cup of coffee on the piano 😱😱😱 tsktsktsk
