hard to believe, but back in the day, the music press were slating Yes, saying they were pretentious , pompous, irrelevant and overblown....how wrong they were

@@L33ReactsAwaken is my favorite song in all music history. I call it the star song of hope. The crescendo near the end is the instrumental representation of the rapture of the church. That stargate event is the blessed hope of all Christians, and only Yes could do justice to that subject matter. And they did it big time. My first Yes concert was in 1977 for Going 4 The 1 tour. Amazing show.

I can honestly say that Yes is my favorite band on the planet. I've been listening to them and going to their concerts for over 50 years and watching your reaction to this masterpiece brought me to tears, 😢 it's how their music just hits you to the core if you get it, and you definitely get it Lee, I'm so glad that you discovered them. OMG! It's one thing to listen to "Awaken" in the studio, and another to see it done live. I'm soo grateful that this shit is "down for Posterity" to be seen/heard by all. That last line..."like the time I ran away, turned around, and you were standing close to me"...means so much to me, and I know, so many others. Glad you listened to the studio version (with authentic pipe-organ) 1st, but...MAN aren't they magical to see live!? Well done Lee! Thanks.

After seeing a dozen live Yes shows since 1973 (and several of Jon's solo performances), I've learned to watch Jon's hand and body movements during the song. He uncovers all the "odd" rhythms hidden within the music, which I would otherwise not have noticed. Especially in Awaken. Check it out. I trust many Yes fans may have noticed the same. With Peace and Love to all! (Michael)

First part of the song, Steve is playing an electric 12--string guitar. It's headless so it's less apparent, but that's what makes it sound so rich and full.

My very good friend from high school passed away 8 years ago. He was a huge YES fan. We went to many shows together over the years, etc. He came to me in a dream a couple of days after he passed, and in that dream, he put his arm around my shoulder, looked at me, smiled and said, "it's all going to be ok." That's the short version of course, but the dream was so real. That's what this music does for me. YES music has been what I like to listen to in the best of times and also in the worst of times. It always makes me feel better...no matter what. Glad you have discovered them...I hope they can do the same for you! Peace brother...😊

Without YES, we'd have never have known what music can truly be! YES I was there Live again & again dreading the day when it would eventually come to a close. And it's been an unbelievable 19 years since this perfect incarnation. Holy fk! Luckily I was blessed once again to see Jon perform it again with The Geek Band (YES excellent cover band) for probably the last time in May. The actual Symphonic Tour and undoubtedly Jon performing AWAKEN Live with Todmobile Orchestra with Choir is a must. Maybe one of his most uniquely beautiful renditions ever!

Great reaction! I think the fragmentation in spiritual life we see today, is the result of many factors. One thing is true for me, however, an awakening is being able to see truth from bullshit, whether it's in the way a person writes or talks. If you know your own truth, who you are, then you can see others who are "true" to themselves as well, along with those who hide their intentions with lies, big and small. The truth does not "covet", whether this be material or relational. This such a great song to address all the nonsense going on. Amazing that it's from 1977, when I was 19. Lol Cheers!

Lee it’s funny the YES song I been recommending “That, That Is” was new material from 1996; The Keys to The Acensenion Album , all YES songs are fabulous, but even in the late 90’s The Ladder album from 1999, Magnification is an unbelievable album from the 2001 There’s never been a group of musicians with this must talent & while some want the same old YES when in truth YES was always changing to, 90215, AWBH, The Big Generator, UNION & The Open Your Eyes Album we’re always YES pushing the YES’s musical boundaries, YES TRULY IS THE BEST!!! I saw YES IN CONCERT From 1972 Close To TheEdge in New Orleans, THE TALES at LSU ASSEMBLY CENTER IN BATON ROUGE, to GFTO back in New Orleans in 1977, my last YES Concert in New Orleans was the 90125 show & after that I saw YES at many different venues in the Atlanta, Tennessee region about 15 different shows, plus numerous solo shows of Jon’s, Rick & Steve . And of the 20-25 shows I’ve actually witness there wasn’t a bad one in the bunch, YES were the consummate professionals stars who always had a theme of Goodness, Love & Salvation you have people say Jon wrote sounds for the sound of the words, maybe a very little but all YES had a theme of Salivation. & Hope.
RIP Mr. Peter Banks, Mr Christopher Squire, & Mr. Alan White, I THANK GOD THAT I WAS ALIVE DURING THE GREATNESS OF YES.
