This show warmed my heart . I was alone for Christmas. It brought back memories when we had a houseful gir Christ Mas . Brought back tears to my eyes .
Watched about 5 minutes and decided to put it on my Christmas Day list of movies to watch. I played Santa all month on Christmas morning will go play Santa to a friend of mine in the nursing home then come home fix my meal and sit down and watch movies all day long relaxing and being inspired by my selective Christmas movies.
I absolutely loved this movie...we are all the same, money or not. If only everyone could show the same kindness and caring for everyone that is down trodden
Your so right Robin , I also wish this also ,I think that’s why I love these old classics , they take me away from our evil world for awhile ! God Bless you and your family , stay safe .❤️🙏🇨🇦
It inspired me as a kid. As an adult I'd cook for days, throw a big party and ppl brought cash or gifts for kids. On Christmas day we had 39 foster kids come for dinner and presents in my 2 br apt. It was WONDERFUL!
Another wonderful movie with Joseph Schildkraut 🌹He is always the perfect gentleman 🥂So enjoyed it 🌈 Thank you for inviting him into our living room 🍾🎁💫🐳
The "mansion" set is amazing...the staircase, the large tile floor, how the rooms flow off the main foyer...just incredible, stunning really....What a set!
Praise The Lord ,another Christmas 🎅 and. Here I am watching my favourite Christmas shows , Thank you foe every thing you do to get these dramas uploaded , Happy Holidays, also A Blessed New Year . December 21,2021.
So True. We don't have the writers or actors willing to do movies today without sex and profanity and gore. Thats the selling point today , sex, it's a must in every movie. It's difficult to find a cartoon today that has a "G" rating, lol
Lol, here, in April of 2021, I'm watching a Christmas movie of all things. But proudly to say, it was more than well worth it. So charming. Love the warmth and generosity that's portrayed here. And omg, what a most beautiful, gorgeous humongous home they lived in. Such huge large windows, doors, and most beautiful winding of a staircase. The butler and maids definitely have their work cut out for them, trying to keep the whole house clean and kept up.
The Cheaters is an excellent Christmas movie. When I was a child this was shown every year during the holiday season. I wish someone would upload the English film classic "The Holly and the Ivy" which also used to be shown every year in December, but is almost never shown on broadcast or cable tv anymore. They have worn "It's A Wonderful Life" out with endless re-broadcasts.
Glad to see so many people enjoyed this wonderful old film. TCM played it four or five years ago, but I've not seen it since. Too bad, as The Cheaters deserves a wider audience!
So love this movie 💗🍾🥂The wonderful Joseph Schildkraut is a very favourite actor of mine 😇 He was exquisite in A SHOP AROUND THE CORNER with James Stewart 🌺🍧🌻 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to all & thank you ☺️ so much for sharing with us 🌈💐
Sweet, wonderful movie. They just don't make movies like this anymore. Mr. Schildkraut is a wonderful actor. Saw him in Marie Antoinette, played a totally evil character, and in a lighter role in Shop around the Corner. Love this movie.
This is a classic I agree Hollywood movies of today cannot compare. I also really enjoyed watching a movie thank God with no profanity no sex and no outrageous violent scenes what a difference .
Wonderful! Gorgeous mansion and great acting. Mr Marcham was superb as was Miss Watts and the entire cast. A petfect Christmas film with a moral message about greed overcome, finally from guilt and fear of the Scrooge ghosts. Thank you for uploading. Xxx❤❤❤
This is an absolutely delightful movie! I've never been disappointed with anything that Eugene Pallette or Billie Burke appeared in. A terrific cast makes this well worth watching! Thanks for sharing this.
This was actually the third-to-last film which Eugene Pallette made, though he would live another 9 years. (He made two more films in 1946, and that's all she wrote for his movie career.) The tipping point was when 20th Century Fox fired him from "In The Meantime, Darling" the year before, because of his openly racist behavior (toward Clarence Muse in particular) early in the filming.
I LOVED this movie and will bookmark it to watch.every year! Imagine, as old as I am, and had never even heard of it! It's become an instant favorite. Wonderful storyline and excellent acting! Thanks so much for posting!🌈🌈🌈
Joseph Schildkraut was excellent! He gives his all in every film. Billie Burke was excellently cast as the humorous element to his intense performance. Thanks for posting!
This 1945 movie starred Joseph Schildkraut (18986 - 1964) and was re-released in 1949 as The Castaway. It was a regular film at Christmas on TV in the USA all through the 1950s to the 1970s. Schildkraut, now largely forgotten, was a silent era star who successfully transferred to talkies. He won the Oscar for his role in The Life of Emile Zola (1937) and a Golden Globe nomination for playing Otto Frank in The Diary of Ann Frank (1959) - he also appeared in that role in the stage production. In 1962 he won a Primetime Emmy for his appearance in an episode of the TV series Sam Benedict. His last film, released after his death, was The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965).
Has a hint of My Man Godfrey. Love these old movies! This is what put Hollywood on the map. They don't make 'em like this anymore. So sad😢😢😢. Than you for sharing!!!
According to IMDB, this script was originally intended as a vehicle for Carole Lombard - - -which (along with Eugene Pallette) would have given it Maximum Godfribility !!
How very nice ! Great cast ! Billie Burke has, or had by now I suppose, an incredible talent for expressing the intricacies of her feelings through variations of intonation on a single syllable !
Amazing, the number of positive reviews. I don't have cable, never have had it, so I had never heard of or seen this movie before, I assumed from the title that it had to do with marital infidelity. I therefore looked it up on Wikipedia just before starting to watch. According to Wikipedia, this movie had a somewhat lukewarm reception when it debuted. It was criticized for wasting a fairly talented cast of actors. IMHO, this picture might have fared better if Paramount, the studio that was originally set to produce it, had put their name on it. Instead, it was produced by Republic, one of its few deviations from WESTERNS and serials. The production itself looks like an adapted stage play, but apparently was not, I loved the story by the way. I can almost imagine today's Hollywood trying to update this scenario...and totally ruining it. Wikipedia calls this a screwball comedy, I don't think that I would agree with that description. There were no crazy car chases and no rapid fire dialogue with characters talking over each other. But it is a pretty decent movie. Unfortunately, my favorite post WW II (?) Christmas movie will always be Christmas in Connecticut.
this was a lost movie for many years. i did see it on very late-night tv in the 80s but was not able to find it on DVD till 2 years ago. TCM showed it last year, but it's not on their schedule this year. I have always LOVED IT - thank you so much for sharing !!!!

A sweet bedtime story to ease my insomnia! Thanks for posting, I love this! One of my new favorites! Someday maybe, "Come to the Stable" will appear...keep Christmas in your heart, every day of the year!🎄🎄🎄
Greetings from The UK! This delightful film, had me in stitches! Especially the scene where Soldier Stephen arrives at his girlfriend's house, only to be met by a mad exodus! LoL! ..... It also had a serious side to it, where the situation all of the characters, found themselves in, allowed them all, to re -evaluate them selves. It had a hint of 'An inspector calls' about it! That was a great, old "chestnut" of a movie! Thank you for the download and separate ending which was right there in the right column. This filmhas a wonderful, old-fashioned Christmas spirit to it. Very rare.
This is a brilliant little gem of a Christmas movie. The cast of familiar character players are given what might have been stock roles, but each is nicely filled out as the writing allows them the room for each to grow as the plot progresses and deepens, leading to a nicely satisfying and uplifting conclusion.

Peter Hyatt Ironic, considering that women were doing men's work all through the war and were still wearing shoulder pads to make them look more mannish. :) The good old days when men were ineffectual fools and women were ditzy fools and they raised a family of spoiled brats who had to be taught a lesson in how to behave.
Ahh the good ole days that never were as good as often remembered hah! The days when bully's ruled by fear inside them, would pause on beating up some poor kid in order to stand upright and open the door while saying "Good morning Miss Applebalm!" only to shut the door and have the boys get right back to beating up each other. Those were the days of white picket fences where even adults liked playing pretend, as they did when they pretended to have perfect families and perfect children and the feeling of fear including being embarrassed by their kid doing something that was no big deal, but not fearful of being a a curmudgeonly father

Wonderful Xmas🎄movie. Great cast w/Billie Burke as the ultimate flighty wife. 1st time I've seen this classic film, so glad it was uploaded...such a treat....they really don't make them like this any more!
At least this copy had the last 10 minutes...Thanks for that, the climax, & whole point of the movie. Another channel didn't, & was very disappointing...really killed the mood...so, thanks again!!! ha
drop that "greatest generation" crap! that was invented by Tom Brokaw to sell a book and rubes like you fell for it. There is no generation called "the greatest generation"
@@Marcel_Audubon Wrong. They were the greatest we've produced so far; because they had to be to overcome and give brats like you the life you SO take for granted
@@Marcel_Audubon The style, entertainment and classiness were the greatest as well. We've descended from there in many ways, though we have also gotten better in other ways - only natural given another four or five generations
You're only confirming in my mind the answer to this question: If that's the Greatest Generation, which is the "Worst Generation?" --- The present one...of course that's been said for generations

Just so you know how much money we're talking about, counting inflation, 5 million dollars is worth about 57 million today. Average cost of a house in Los Angeles today is around 600 thousand, it was about 40 thou in 1945.
I thought that I recognized the actress playing Ms. Watson. Ona Munson also played the fabulous and unforgettable Belle Watson in Gone with the Wind. Amazing talent!

Another channel didn't, & was very disappointing...really killed the mood...so, thanks again!!! ha
the other channel was being merciful to its viewers
A reminder to the "greatest generation" and to us now of what really matters in this life
drop that "greatest generation" crap! that was invented by Tom Brokaw to sell a book and rubes like you fell for it.
@@samueldavidrucker7514 nonsense
You're only confirming in my mind the answer to this question: If that's the Greatest Generation, which is the "Worst Generation?" --- The present one...of course that's been said for generations
What a great film, I just loved it.
WE have a dvd of it and watch every CHRISTMAS .ONE of the best CHRISTMAS movies ever made right up there with IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE , MIRACLE on 34th STREET ,CHRISTMAS in CONNECTICUT, WE'RE NO ANGELS .
Also "Christmas Eve" (an excellent 1947 United Artists release).
I needed a Christmas movie right now. Thank you!
Kathy me also ..I needed this wonderful pleasant to listen to and watch this classic....I am 69 yrs old this kind of movie does a body good!!!
Pitiful Hollywood movies....they don't have a clue...
@@nataliehale2312 Merry Christmas Natalie!🎄🎄
thank you--i saw this many years ago, and have thought of it often, not knowing the name or how to find it. it's one of the best. so glad to see it again.--greatly appreciated
Thank you so much for this ! Wonderful show. So happy to see the end too :)
I use to watch this movie a long time ago. I couldn’t remember it’s name or exactly who was in it. It was one of my favorite Christmas movie. I’m so happy I can watch it again.
this is one of the great Christmas movies.but very few know of it, they show it more often, not just show A wonderful life, I think this 0ne show real people.. how they can change, no angle to help
Billie Burke was great at playing rich dingbats, and I love her...
Wow ! Have you ever seen a better movie?
Billie Burk was the good witch in Wizard of Oz
Glinda.
What a delightful film, thank your for sharing!
Lol, Billie Burke, reminds me of Betty White ... maybe not in sound or voice, but her looks here
She does. Beautiful women !!
