"Remixed" from STEMS (separated audio tracks). I did this because I really like Wes Borland his guitar parts.

@@philyates7670 I'm sorry, just my opinion.
I was so into limp bizkit around 98 99
They were great. Fred Durst was kind of a tool and that song My Way, I always thought it was a Fuck you to Wes and the other members. (I'm probably totally wrong)
It wasn't much longer after that album that Borland quit or was fired.
Durst then went on to try and find a replacement and did it on MTV and the whole thing had a mainstream nasty lame approach and execution.
I'd love a whole album of LB without vocals.
So having said that, Wes Borland goes on to release Big Dumb Face. I was excited to hear about that back then. Well when I finally get ahold of WB BDF, it was a total shock and disappointment.
I was soooo mad. Here was his chance to prove to everyone that he was one of the top Key players in that band and was never gonna be replaceable.
Both bands ended up sucking so bad.
I might have my time lines mixed up, certain facts wrong, but in the end it wasn't till a decade later that Wes finally did an album that was good, but was too late.
      Any thoughts?

@@russellpaloor8225 Big Dumb Face was never meant to be taken seriously, it was Wes having some fun, but I know what you mean.
I always felt Limp Bizkit were a great band that sheepishly followed a poor front man who sold them out to further his own PR image. The lyrics got lazier as time went on and the band suffered as a result. The music videos took away how great they were musically by repeating the same cheesy format. Look at the track Gold Cobra. Musically tight and great, but lyrically lazy, cliched and shit with a terrible chorus and a music video that Limp Bizkit had done to death. Hold On and Boiler were the main two tracks that I thought were great overall on Chocolate Starfish and the last two great tracks that the band put out and last decent video that actually let the music be taken seriously.

He doesn't need to be a great singer, but he is a hell of a visionary, hell of a producer (Staind was also a mayor thing for the genre, and he put them on the map) .
He got one of the best fusion (hip hop/metal) drummers anyone could get (john can play any style of music perfectly though) , one of the best active 5string bass player there was at the time (look him up) , then actually a pretty underrated GOD of fx guitar player , PLUS one hell of a sampler on lethal. I used to show my brother the 'My Way' instrumental back in the Comcast On-Demand days. It was a demonstration in really tight song-writing. Listening to the instrumental, your mind fills in the gap of Fred's melody while allowing you to hear the INCREDIBLY produced foundation. Buried underneath, you can hear Wes' intricate delay-heavy riffs playing something you clearly couldn't hear beforehand - it's so good. You can even hear really cool things that John and Sam are doing while never ever letting up on that groove.
We used to make up new melodies and harmonies on top, imagining what it would sound like if Scott Weiland or Layne Staley were the vocalists.

    • @philyates7670

For me the problem was that musically they were excellent, but ever since Significant Other the lyrics have largely either been lazy, recalls to previous songs or just tired cliches. The music is let down by Fred Durst, simple as.
Add to that their music videos have been largely dumb since Chocolate Starfish with the exception of Boiler, where most treat the band and the song like they're a novelty. Fred directs a lot of these. Coincidence? That's why I think a lot of people got put off them and why they weren't taken seriously. Nu Metal was struggling to be taken serious as it stood so it wasn't helped when someone backs up the claims of it being a dumb genre by doing dumb things within it.
Look at the song Gold Cobra. Vintage Limp Bizkit. Musically a solid tune with Wes, John and Sam all on point. But the lyrics and chorus are fucking shit and the video is diabolical. Once again, a LB song let down badly due to Fred's involvement.

The opening riff reminds me of being on a late night road trip, and coming on the bright and clean lights of a gas station. Its a contrast from the darkness and headlights of everything else, yet its all the same. Its cold and distant, yet comforting and at home from monotony of a late night drive. You pull in, letting your eyes adjust to the clinical yet dirty feel of the station. For a brief moment your deceived into thinking its day, but sadly it isn't. This song will always be great, and gives me an immense nostalgia to a time I miss dearly.

Outside of TH-cam and discovering non-major label music for yourself great popular music is dead. classic mainstream albums are dead. nobody knows how to
make a dope hook or memorable melody anymore it's all the same style , same auto tune , no individuality , no smash hits that deserve it.

    About your leadership
    And I will straight up
    Leave your shit
Cause I've had enough of this
    And now I'm pissed
    Yeah
This time I'm 'a let it all come out
This time I'm 'a stand up and shout
I'm 'a do things my way
    It's my way
    My way, or the highway
Check out, check check... out my melody
    Just one more fight
    About a lot of things
And I will give up everything
To be on my own again
    Free again
    Yeah
This time I'm 'a let it all come out
This time I'm 'a stand up and shout
I'm 'a do things my way
    It's my way
    My way, or the highway
Some day you'll see things my way
    Cause you never know
    Where, you never know
    Where you're gonna go
Check out, check check, out my melody
    Just one more fight
    And I'll be history
    Yes I will straight up
    Leave your shit
And you'll be the one who's left
    Missing me
    Yeah
This time I'm 'a let it all come out
This time I'm 'a stand up and shout
I'm 'a do things my way
    It's my way
    My way, or the highway
Some day you'll see things my way

It is when a sub par rapper and singer but a hell of a visionary and bussinessman surrounds himself with the best musicians he could find on the market back then.
Sam and Otto are probably the tightest rythm section in the geanra, Wes is such an underrated guitarist and does all the album art, quirky genius. DJ Lethal is just that, lethal on the turntables and is not afraid to experiment. Just watch him do a "turntable solo" on Metallica Sanatarium cover. They weren't afraid to do what they wanted. Fred is a douche but the rest of the guys are genius.
