How to Install Searchlight Simulations Gevo's on Train Simulator 2021(Read description)

- On this tutorial I show how to unzip the compressed files with 7-zip then have them install on the right path for Railworks in order for them to show up.
The games are installed automatically on you C-drive, I install them on my D-drive to save space on my SSD Drive since its only 500g. So that creates two paths. One on C-drive on program files (x86)Railworks then only has 3 folders. That is not the path you want, this is what you want, here is mine for example:
D:/Steam/steamapps/common/Railworks
Then you have up to around 85 folders, check you assets folder and you have folders like:
DTG/DTM/RSC/Searchlight Simulations/Kuju and whatever else you have in there.
I didn't exactly cover that on the video so hopefully in the description will help to get a better idea of where I was installing the mods.
I also discuss of how many Train and Truck Simulator fans are on here, I need to know because I may a separate channel for American and Euro Truck simulator. Train Simulator 2021 seems to be the successor on Diesel Power Gaming!

how do you do the lights i cant get it to work
I don’t get why the back lights, or trailing locomotives headlights are on at all times now when I installed the packs. (Which I know that’s a feature on some real locomotives, but not all of them)
Hey bud, great tutorial on this. I just got TS Classic and was trying to get the GEVO-12 Soundset to work. It didn't work the first time, so I did the 2nd process which was over-write it. It still hasn't fixed it. Got another solution? I've been trying to have this to work since about 2020.
Does this usually happen or is it a problem. The NS ES44 default lights in the front dont even turn on except for a decal to make it look like it’s on. And the searchlight flares have the same issue but the headlights are actually on
Very informative video. You just got yourself a new subscriber. I'll have to watch it a couple more times to understand. I tried installing the enhancement pack but to me it sounds horrible for some reason. I think some files do need to over write. The horn doesn't sound right on my install is a good example. I'm fairly new to train simulator and have lots of questions. Is the fast track feature easy to use? I like how you use that to test your locos and sounds. The sound pack I downloaded is from searchlight and it was free. Its the one for GEVO. I use the ES44DC.
I have a problem where I download the BN bundle and when I place the units on the track, they just sit there and smoke

sorry to make another comment but the pack i need a tutorial for is the sd70m 16nb enhancement pack branding patch not the sd70ace 16nc-2 pack branding patch
Honestly it all follows the same protocol, it all depends where is you Railworks folder install in your PC

When I click on the installer a message pops up saying windows smart screen has stopped a unrecognizable app from running

do not do the sd70ace branding patch cause i cant afford any of searchlights paid packs rn
everything seems to work but the 16N-710G3B and the GEVO headlights show up as nothing(The bulbs light up but there is 0 light being emitted from them so it's just pitch black in a night scenario), Is there something I missed?
(Edit, I have re-installed it about 3 times and it's the same, everything else works besides the headlights)

Ok I've checked mine and I do not have that issue. Try this and it's going be a pain but worth it, if you haven't tried this.
Verify all files on Train Simulator. After that you have to reinstall all mod S.S sounds and Krellnuts car sounds if you have that installed.
Next on editor double check that all boxes are checked for WAudio and Searchlight Simulations. If you still have an issue with the SD70ACE try to contact Searchlight Simulations they still support that mod I believe.
So if anything repeat the Enhancements installation process and overwrite the files. Hopefully this will help you, best of luck!

When I opened the installer (for the GE 7FDL16 pack), I couldn't see the "This PC" option, what should I do?
My best guess is that your PC may be set differently but basically just follow the path that you have railworks installed

Hey man, I was wondering if I could get some help...
I've installed all three of the free enhancement packs (GE GEVO-12, GE 7FDL-16, and EMD 16N-710G3B), but only the default Kuju GEVOs are working (UP ES44AC and BNSF ES44AC). I've installed it for the first time and tried, which yielded no positive results besides the Kuju's working, so then I tried to overwrite, but again, same results. I even completely wiped all of my Searchlight Simulation mods and reinstalled, but nothing... basically, out of all the packs, only two locos are working (technically one since the Kuju UP and BNSF ES44AC are the same model), so... not too sure... it doesn't make sense to me though how non of the other GEVOs are working... not to mention no locos in the other packs are functioning properly... thanks for your time in advance, hope to get a reply!
Edit: I got all the sounds working thankfully! Now it’s just the lights that don’t work...
Sorry for the late reply, I'm glad you got it working. All I've done when I come across an issue like that is to overwrite up to 3 times and finally works. The main issue is to push Searchlight Simulations to support and update these mods. They currently don't and to make matters worse they haven't been active at all.
Did you enable it in the route editor by checking off MILW Audio? If you have that and dynamic lights enabled, it should work.
@@JessicaKasumi1990 hey, i got the same issues just like this comment author had. I’ve done checking off all MLW bla bla bla in route editor, but when i close the scenario and open it again, the light won’t work again, do i should enabling it in route editor everytime i want to play the scenario ?

I just downloaded the GEVO and 7FDL-16 pack and the horns are working, but the headlights are still showing the default ones. Do you have any tips?
Yes I've had issues recently, just repeat the installation process again. Then check it again until its installed 100%

@@spartacussimulations5571 So what I did was to run a scenario and if it’s “World Edit”-able, I just had to activate the mod into the map. If it’s created by a player, I’m out of luck.

hey, i got the GEVO pack and GE 7FDL16 pack, i got some problem
1. Dash 9 from penn coal, it only spawn the coupler(no engine is rendered - floating coupler)
2. NS heritage GEVO just crash with out of memory
Note : this is a clean new instal
other than that thanks for the tutorial, it give me the final piece of the puzzle so the lights works

If you only get the floating couplers. You're missing Geo. Files or path is misplaced.
The crash I'm not sure though
Well i can get around with the dash 9 by deleting the dash 9 folder inside the railvehicles folder, for the ns heritage gevo, well, i have to take the audio folder to other place, reinstall the gevo and plaxe the audio folder back. So the dash 9 and gevo were using default lights and physics, but i think the engine sound is modded and the horn is definitely modded.
I'm gonna try and play around with the config files to see any missing lines and reline them
Problem I have is that the sounds only work for the lead engine. it doesnt sound like the engines are all running as MUs. they just stay in idle sound
Unfortunately that's how it really runs
Nah there is a file type in the file itself that lets you add the other locos sounds other than the lead unit, you have to set them up in order, it’s either the .SMS file or the .Lua file you setup in there that let’s you have all the dpu’s running, OR you can just be annoying like I am and lazy and jump thru the other locos once you get the consist moving, you knock off the independent and train brakes in each cab, move the reverser if it lets u, usually won’t, and then notch the other locos either wide ass open in 8 or whatever and give it like 5-10 seconds and they will come to life, so then when you jump out the train to watch it go by or beside the train their all screaming or like if you got dpu’s at the very back, it works good for that. I’m pretty sure this mostly is glitch I’ve found that works on the mlw sound packs tho but works good and easy 💪
Please help friend. I install the pack and sounds work but the headlight dont work(weak white headlight with no light field in the cab
I fix it. But this time another problem on my sherman hill es44 cab sound dont work and bell in the cab no sound

Hello friend is there a way to check the sound pack and save it, because i drive one scenario that i save it progress and i come back a few hours later start the saved progression scenario and the sound pack don't checked(the old headlights) Greetings
Well unfortunately this maybe due to the recent updates and is messing with the mod. Your best bet is to email Searchlight Simulations about the issue.
Now they will tell you that they no longer support most sounds Enhancements which is true. But the more people continue to push this Enhancements we might have a chance for them to work on them again. Honestly from my side I could not tell you really the problem. If I find the same issue and find a solution I will get in touch again. Sorry I couldn't help you 100% hope you find a solution as well, cheers!
Is the Tehachapi engine compatible with these sounds
Yes, although there is a patch and a specific Zip file for the krellnut's wagon sounds.

Yes sir, but it is definitely more complex. I have failed in some and succeeded in few. I will have to look more into it to have a legit video on it.

Hey Man I loved the video, I’m just a little confused about the BNSF ACe logo, how do I extract the file with the password? Everything else works it’s just that there’s a patch over the logos on it
When you extract the file, you should have a MLWAudio notepad file and has the password. Copy and paste and boom done

@@spartacussimulations5571 I finally found the part where you put the passcode in, and I found a pdf with instructions, but I still cannot locate the notepad one with the password, I’m horrible with computers and trying to get into this game has been difficult, I wish it was simpler to install, or at least simple enough where noobs like me could install it without having to ask for help
My Up ES44's inside cab sounds are tweaked but other than that -- A ok.
Anything is better than the original DLC for sure.
@@spartacussimulations5571 No doubt about that -- I wouldn't touch those locos without the enhancement packs. Now they at least see some rails in between the AC4400 and SD40-2's from searchlight.
Saw that CSX ES44 from the vid and purchased it myself -- only to find I don't have the EXACT one needed (I have the one from Marias Pass) But now have to purchase an entirely separate loco -- one I already have various copies of -- just tp get the CSX logo'd ES. I'm betting there is little difference between the two.
Lol yes sometimes it does become annoying at times, because you find out that you don't have the proper file for a mod. There's 2 versions on the ConRail Sd40's from Searchlight Simulations and I found that out when I was installing the CSX repaint. I had to purchase the correct one

Completely awesome video until it went into hyperdrive. Anyone can click a installer (hopefully) but not everyone knows or understands the build.menu part. That is where 9 out of 10 people fail IMO.

I hate this game lol. I’m trying to add the mlw files manually using the bin files and editing them and some I’ve gotten to work and others I feel like smashing the keyboard
Lol, yea don't let that simulator do that. I haven't even gotten that technical with it.
@@spartacussimulations5571 nah I’m gonna get it. Prolly be in a retirement community by the time I got it down but ima get it. It’s basically real similar to FSX and how you add and edit the files to add aircraft and stuff on flight sim thru steam, but train sim is alittle different, but I’ve got like half of it down now adding whatever sounds like horn and ketstrokes to any train you want by editing the proxyxml files and it’s good, but editing and adding the engine sounds is a bit more complicated like the different sounds at distance and how you add them in the bin files so it replaces all the factory engine sounds inside and outside the cab, I get that right bout half the time now. So making slow progress but I just don’t like letting stuff whip me
That's really cool that you've gotten that much into it. I've actually gotten bored with it and burned out, even with the truck simulators. Keep it up perhaps you'll help make it Train Simulator exciting.
