Fantastic drills and circuit. Can anyone tell me why, when using the suspended bucket to learn the double leg circles, the gymnast supports himself on his elbows rather than on his hands? Most of the other drills emphasise that the arms must be straight and I know that if you learn some skills with bent arms, it's very difficult to unlearn it.

It encourages the hip drive towards the front of the circle and heel drive towards the back of the circle for speed. Also useful for if gymnasts have sore wrists. Although the arms are bent, the gymnast is not trained to use his triceps to hold the bend in the elbows because the whole forearm is in contact with the mat. Therefore the drill doesn't result in any bad habits that may need to be corrected when developing the circle in the future.

I think he mentioned it could be done with the elbows if the gymnast had sore wrists

Not loving his questions at the beginning. That whole “maintain balance.” Not how I felt it.

Многовато разговора. Тренер мне кажется больше на своей личности зациклин.
