As a Sheriffs Deputy in SC, waxed my entire shotgun that I stored in the trunk. I would reapply a new coat every year and it never rusted.

Used this wax for 25 years in my employment as conservator in large Public Library in England. Before using this, which is meant to impart a protective layer, thorough cleaning/ degreasing is necessary. Yes the wax will remove a certain amount of surface grime but not deep seated gunge. or mineral oil soaked into gunstock. Removing this oil needs lots of time, methylated spirits heat and Vulpex soap. Results are worth time and expense

I bought this wax after watching this video last year. I'll never go without it again.
I sanded down a Mosin Nagant stock and then put 3 thin coats of linseed oil and 2 coats of Renaissance Wax. It looks and feels like a totally different rifle. Thanks Larry.

I was introduced to Renaissance Wax back in 1991 by Dr. Jack Atwater at the U.S. Army Ordnance museum. it is used on all manner of historically fragile artifacts. a "Soft-type" nylon tooth brush is best for any application.

My old Stanley rafter square had rusted terribly in my unheated garage. I wire wheeled off the rust, and applied a coat of Sno-Seal, mixed with a couple drops of oil. Sno Seal is made with bees- wax. It worked great as a rust preventer.

Larry does it again, great video, great idea, and thanks.
I like to put shoe polish(the liquid) on any black "plastic" stocks. It covers any scratches that aren't too deep and makes it look better without adding almost any major shine to the mat finish.

I just bought a jar of Renaissance wax and was going to apply it to my rifle's stock this weekend, but now I'm wondering how that will affect any future applications of boiled linseed oil? The trouble with this situation is 95% of all guns come from the factory with wood finished in spray lacquer with is tougher than just about anything else. Wax, oils and other finishting products simply lay on top of lacquer. This video only pertains to the few guns which are not finished with lacquer from the factory. Maybe some older military rifles from back in the old BLO days. Even the custom hand finished stocks will have something better than wax. The wax is however great for metal.

Actually the wax was created specifically to treat wood, leather, and metal antique arms and armour. The Armaments Wing of the British Museum wanted something that was safe for all three surfaces, and Renaissance Wax was engineered to meet their criteria. So while technically it wasn't created specifically only for firearms, it was created specifically for antique weapons of all types.
