Gorgeous. Love the tone of this reporting. Disneyland Resort owns plenty of land that is zoned for parking and hotels. They are very nicely communicating to the community their need to use that space for theme parks, and doing so respectfully of local residents and businesses. They aren't asking for taxpayer dollars or for anyone to make any sacrifices on their behalf. Great approach and I hope it works out.

Certainly hasn't been like that in the past.

They are asking for rezoning, which ends up being more valuable than piles of cash. Think.

If they want to remove parking to add more attractions, then they should advocate for good public transit around the city. There will be less parking for the guest and so they would have to park farther away from the park. And if you invest in public transit, it'll make it easier for guests to get to the park.

Maybe Country Bears and the Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh could for once co-exist----keep WtP at its current locale, replacing the Bears, who can in a new locale, or, more obvious, restore the Bears to their original locale, moving WtP to a new local. Oh, and also, Nightmare before Christmas could be, moved to this new area, too, so ,instead of re-skinning the original HM with Haunted Mansion Holiday, that could be changed to the new area planned, if and when it DOES open, as an all year round Jack Skellington allowing the OG HM to be the 1969 same, with the usual updates like modern day Hatbok Ghost, etc. Who knows? Maybe it'll be as big as Walt Disney World! 😎 Oh. and one final thing. I would love to see the replaced iconic structures (since early 2001) like the resturants and candy store that fell by the wayside when Downtown Disney and Cal.Adv.opened at that time.

Granted also, it's a smart idea to use the parking spaces. Thing is, with how their crowds are already, how would that help with less parking? It's a bit up in the air for now but I'd love to see what they do.
Edit: I think perhaps it could be dealt with by multi-story parking, but that might cause a bit of crowds for a few months.

@@MinerMends Well if anything Disney already has the land they'd just convert parking lots they own which are frankly ridiculously sized. And most likely use their remaining parking lots and put parking garages on them. There might be more traffic going into those garages and more foot traffic to be honest all the resort hotels are near disneyland and there aren't many homes in and around the Disneyland area in the resort district so it shouldn't be TOO bad but.. the traffic going to may be problematic.

This is why Reedy Creek was born in FL by Walt and Roy Disney. Zoning must go through Anaheim City and Anaheim communities to be voted upon. I can remember in the middle of the "Carousel of Progress" when I was little, the building would stop and the audience was ushered to the second floor where E.P.C.O.T was all mapped out per Walt Disney's ideas of the future in FL. Within parts of FL, there are remnants of EPCOT buildings that were started for the Prototype Community. There is still so much land that Disney still owns in Anaheim as well. Just now they have buildings on some of their land space and along with parking lots, etc. Need to get the Imagineering/Architecture hats on now.

Honestly, replacing Simba and rest of the west side parking is just silly. Disney should just buy Gardenwalk and build a third gate in the current Toy Story parking area while constructing a new massive parking garage at Disney Way.

    • @nikolausepp8093

My understanding is the owners of Gardenwalk aren't interested in selling.

That’s understandable, but the previous owners of Gardenwalk years back were more willing to sell the lot to Disney.

Let Disney do what they want. The city knows how important Disney really is to them. I don't want to hear anything from the residence. Don't move by Disneyland and then complain about traffic and noise. The only residence who are allowed to have an opinion are those you lived there before 1955.
