hii mak.About what you said of espresso, coffee is a big part of my culture and I can assure you that making espresso with a stove coffee maker is not only tastier but it's also a lot cheaper than buying it from Starbucks. And It is not as hard as some people on the Internet make it seem.Sending love from Cuba
i was just about to comment the same thing! I'm from a cuban background as well, and cafe cubano on the stove was a big part of my childhood! definitely check it out mak!
Yes get you some cafe bustelo and a percolator and you’re set (it must be cafe bustelo for the best results) love me some cuban gasoline in the morning
Don’t let nobody tell you it’s difficult all u do is take the pre ground cafe bustelo and put it in the little basket and fill the bottom part w water and put it on the stove that’s how us Caribbean’s do it - sincerely a Haitian girl addicted to caffeine
Making espresso is really easy. If you want Italian espresso the easiest way is to buy an espresso machine or a moka pot. If you don´t really care if it´s Italian espresso or just black coffee I highly suggest you to buy a filter coffee machine (those are really cheap and affordable) and just make how much coffee you want. And after you make your coffee the residue that´s left in the filter you can use it as a fertilizer in your garden.
Mak - homemade cold brew is the best! You can just steep the ground espresso overnight in water (in a big jug) to make the concentrate, then strain and keep in the fridge. Moka pots are also a great option, just thought cold brew would be super convenient since you add ice anyways. Hope things settle down soon!
About the coffee, I'm Italian and I highly suggest you getting a moka or something similar, the ground coffee costs nothing and it takes literally two minutes
Hi Mak! Hang in there it will all be worth it. When I was in college I worked in a real estate office. We had agents from every culture and our own full kitchen, so we had every kind of coffee you could imagine. Greek, Cuban, Turkish, Italian, French, Iranian tea ……you name it we drank it. I guess what I’m trying to say is homemade is always best. Experiment you be surprised how simple it can be.
Im happy for you two to hopefully not be long distance anymore. Hopefully, the housing situation will sort its self out shortly. Im going through something similar currently as well. I am a huge fan of the podcast you do . I wish the best for you and your future. Your content is never boring. Most of the time, you can make me laugh quite a bit.
I make my fiancée espresso most mornings with a Moka pot on the stovetop. As simple as it gets. Put in water, put in ground coffee, wait for it to boil over. 💯
I really loved the editing in this video !!!(it’s always good but the rythme was extra cool, the whispering, the run, the talking, the insert of that funny text, it’s all great)
Coffee-wise, I use an aeropress! It's fairly cheap and super easy, especially if you're moving around a lot. I've taken mine backpacking, camping, if I'm going to a friend's place for the weekend etc. it's excellent and very cheap compared to other espresso making methods
Hey Mak, for stovetop espresso I’m a fan of the bialetti Venus (works on induction stoves too). It’s like a modern Moka pot. Add coffee, add water, heat, wait till it makes noise, done. Basically like making tea
As someone who works in a coffee shop and drinks a small iced american double shot every shift, but who refuses to buy a coffee machine cuzzz i wanna spend that on rash impulse purchases instead I swear the trick is to find a good instant coffee. Granular pieces tend to be yummier in my opinion than the powders but it's kind of a find as you go kind of deal. I'll pour in just enough hot water that it melts and then pour over a ton of ice + the occassional creamer
My mom got a manual espresso machine at Walmart for like 30$. She buys the already ground coffee. You boil water add coffee and water to it and press it. Super freaking easy and only like 3 steps!
I just realized it's been exactly a year ago this month that I started watching (and eventually subscribed to, but I don't remember when exactly) this channel.
6 years ago when I was 22, I did a lot of travelling. I'm Australian and in 1 month I went to Florida, England, Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden. About 3 out of 4 meals were local, traditional, or just something we didn't have at home. But ever few days I just needed a cheeseburger or McDonald's or something 😅
Mak, I make expresso with the stovetop thing and everything including the grounds and the sugar was $30 (lasted me a few months based on my caffeine intake) and it comes with instructions on how to make expresso in the box. I highly recommend it. Some places it is called a cafeteria, expresso maker, or even stovetop coffee maker so it has many names for one thing but is easy to get in the store or online.
I lived in LA years ago and housing was a nightmare, i imagine it has only gotten that much harder to find a place that ticks the boxes. You gotta do what you gotta do. Glad they are compensating you for the wait. ❤
Have you tried Turkish coffee? It's also extremely strong and tasty but WAY easier than espresso imho. Also you get to use this cute little pot and it foams up. Js. One caveat: if you don't like cardamom it probably isn't for you. I'm sure someone makes Turkish style coffee powder without it, but I have not seen it (nor looked for it, so hey ymmv). Love, another woman of the plains.
espresso-recipe from me: if you can find it (i am in germany) buy ground lavazza espresso, its very good italian espresso, in a can and put that in the fridge. like that it lasts longer and stays fresh. i habe one of those little espresso cans which you put directly on the stove. you fill the bottom half up to the hole with water, put the filter in - fill it up with espresso and put it on the stove. its finished when you hear it bubble. it takes about 2minutes! ❤
Stove espresso makers are such a classic in Europe, it's been done since forever, you can do it, it's tasty, it's effortless, it's timeless. There are different sizes too, so you could have a triple with one brew. If you want to go extra get a coffee grinder :)
AND ANYTHING GOES, I've done it so many different ways, you'll always get something tasty, and you'll figure out EXACTLY what you like eventually. Starbucks will be history by then...
had to click on Mak's video coz I was startled by a stranger parrot uninvitedly did not want to leave my house and wanted to play peek-a-boo but in the end scared me so bad coz it wanted to jump on my head
We bought a coffee Ninja. It has a “specialty” setting that is basically espresso. My girlfriend refuses drip coffee, but that setting over ice with a little white chocolate and cream replicates her Starbucks white mocha americano. 👍🏼
I also have a car with 220k miles on it. My bf and I saved 600 dollars by putting our break pads on ourselves. Im not a mechanic and have 0 knowledge of cars, we just watched a TH-cam video made specially for my car, and did it! It took 5 hours total, but only cost about 150, compared to 600+ at a mechanic! It’s stuff like that that will keep your car going
You guys are adorable! In our wedding vows, my wife loosely quoted Dr Seuss, about how love is finding someone who's weirdness matches your own. I hope you have all the best weirdness for each other ❤
moving is hard, especially if it's not the first time. People normally think that if it isn't the first time you already ger used to it, well you don't; at least for me, because I moved from house to house lots ot time, i changed continent twice and it's not easy at all, at least I'm with my family and met some nice people but it's still hard when you miss your friends and can't talk to them due to the time zone; and I'm currently having a s3xu4lity crisis, so...yeah, it sucks
Hoping for the best for you and girlfriend ... Sorry about the complications, but thanks for the Sunday vlogs and Wednesday Chosen Family podcasts ❤❤☺☺
What a chill vlog~ 👌 I’m glad y’all are coping well with everything that’s going on around you. I hope y’all have a great rest of the week! Autumn is upon us~ let’s enjoy it before it goes away too quickly 🍂🍁🍂
My wife finally gave in and got a Nespresso and wished she got it sooner. She worked at Starbucks for years as a manager and is PARTICULAR about her espresso based drinks. She thought Nespresso was a downgrade to what she’s use to but no she said it’s better than any espresso/coffee even from Starbucks.🎉🎉🎉
This video made my week!!❤❤❤😊😊 The shopping cart moment was ABSOFRUITLY ADORABLE and funny🥹😍 Same with the milkshake bit😂🥰 Also, never any pressure to post! I'll watch anything you post no matter what or when❤😊 I'm sending so much love around you Mak and those you love!❤😊❤
the way you described coffee snobs was hilarious hahahahaha but so true!!! i swear theres always a simpler and easier way to do espresso, dont listen to them
I’m SO sorry I agree with your girlfriend on the smoothies. Bc we watch you and I’ve seen make smoothies that don’t look good but I never comment cus you drink it anyway 🥹😝🫤 Edit furthermore, you deserve to have smoothies that taste good AND are good for you. Glad she made you a smoothie of love 🫶
Hey Mak, Have you found a woman owned car repair center? They are more conscientious and truthful. Your Toyota will last, if you get good advice and change the oil!
not it my experience... just have to chuck out the grains and wash like normal. running the faucet through the mesh usually is enough to clean the mesh part.@@Makingemi
Genuine question, as a masc presenting women, isn’t a bit dangerous for you to be in the state of Florida right now, with everything that’s been going? I just hope that your safe 😊
bruh you must be so sheltered. so many red state women wear baseball caps and sweatpants and dress like farmers. you have no idea. ironically, being a down-to-earth tomboy is only coded as gay/deviant in liberal cities.
I love how mak is whispering in the start, Its giving asmr love it
Oh and that “normal voice” warning saved me thanks ahaha
i was afraid people would turn their volume way up 😭
no yeah that warning is genius

this is very motivating to actually learn how to make it
i was just about to comment the same thing! I'm from a cuban background as well, and cafe cubano on the stove was a big part of my childhood! definitely check it out mak!
Yes get you some cafe bustelo and a percolator and you’re set (it must be cafe bustelo for the best results) love me some cuban gasoline in the morning
They sell cafe bustelo at Costco it’s comes in a yellow container
Don’t let nobody tell you it’s difficult all u do is take the pre ground cafe bustelo and put it in the little basket and fill the bottom part w water and put it on the stove that’s how us Caribbean’s do it - sincerely a Haitian girl addicted to caffeine
OMG sometimes it’s just so comforting to have something that is stable and consistent even if it’s not “the best” of whatever it is.

You can get an Aeropress for the espresso! It's kind of versatile so you can do a few different things with it. Super cheap

Highly recommend just making your own cold brew. Cheap, so easy, and you can prep a ton ahead of time so you’re ready to go every morning.
I still love whatever you have to post even if it’s a nice and chill vlog. Love you!
good to know ❤

I've heard Moka pots are really good for homemade espresso. Cost effective, too. My favorite is making cold brew in bulk.
Mak describing men making espresso are running from something was too relatable to life experiences 😄
Just get a moka pot / stovetop coffee maker and put your grounds in there. It's cheap, delicious, quick, easy.
You guys are adorable! In our wedding vows, my wife loosely quoted Dr Seuss, about how love is finding someone who's weirdness matches your own. I hope you have all the best weirdness for each other ❤
