Loved this little insight to what it's like, working as an English teacher in Daegu's countryside! Also exciting to hear all the possible options you can pick from for your next move! Happy new year 🥳
Hello my lovely! Wow - a life update video...I didn't think anyone cared that much haha! I teased them in this video, however, I'll be making a video shortly about my future plans. Staying with EPIK? Moving cities? Moving countries? Going back to the UK? I'll keep you in limbo from now on haha - but an update is coming soon for sure! I hope you're doing well :)
A Korean pear - that makes sense! Thank you! And wow!! That's so crazy...I'm guessing they must have lived in the countryside of Daegu just like me too :) I hope you have a great day!
You should videos urban area videos local market videos like nobody make because everyone make videos about Seoul and Jeju glamour like no one make country side video's plz plz 😭😭😭😭
Hello! So great to see you're the first comment (again!) There's so much to do and see in the countryside so I should take more videos showcasing it - you're right!
How did you get your bus pass set up?? Did the school help you with the daily things like banking and bus passes??! You’re so happy and cheerful i loveee ya 😂 💜 xxx
Hello :) Your bus pass is super easy to set up. You can buy a bus card from any convenience store and top it up there too :) With banking, banks are only open during the time you'll be at school, so for me anyway, I took half a day at school and went to the bank with my co-teacher. Most co-teachers will offer to help and set it up for you so don't get worrying too much :)
@itsalexmark Hi Alex! Quick Q on eye exams, eyeglasses or contacts prescription. Are these included in the medical coverage that’s part of our EPIK teaching benefits over there in Korea? Would we be able to easily set up once a year checkup w an eye doc? If not what do you recommend for how to look for eye doctors with affordable coverage to get glasses and contacts? Ditto w dentist checkups. I’m trying to nail down any other logistics prior to going. Thanks in advance for any tips + advice! 😘
Hey Lisa! In terms of eye exams/test, these can be done at most private opticians and they charge really reasonable rates with a lot of shops all over Korea. If your eyesight is severely bad, like mine, then you can use the hospital. This is then covered by my medical coverage. There will usually be a local health center in your local area so don't get worrying too much about this, with most people speaking English. Have a great day!
Ahhh congratulations!! These next couple of months might feel like the most stressful ones of the whole process - but you've got this! My biggest piece of advice is to go open minded as wherever you're placed/what your school is like, your experience is whatever you make it to be. There'll always be native teachers relatively close by and take every opportunity that is presented to you - you won't regret it! Best of luck :) If you need any more advice just let me know :)
As always, so grateful for your videos and personality!
Ahhh! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video :) I hope you have a great day :)
I wish I was as cheerful as you are in the morning haha

I got a placement to be an EPIK teacher in Daegu. I start in two months and I'm crazy scared. Do you have any advice for a newbie?
