She was the definition of technique to the max. She was deceptively powerful, as most soviets of that time who do extreme difficulty despite their frame.
Beautiful routine. Elegant, flowing, meticulously choreographed, working with the music, difficult tumbling - this is the epitome of the Soviet style. Even her mistakes were elegant. It really just makes you stop and join together in appreciation of a great exercise. *Looks at Jayson D* Or maybe not.
God, this routine is absolutely insane, the whole package, exeptionally difficult tumbling complimented by terrific choreography, real masterpiece. Hat down to Saadi for creating such an outstanding gymnast!
It's so unfortunate that this wonderful gymnast never made an Olympic or world team. She is a full packaged gymnast. And I have never seen a gymnast to this date, in my mind, who performed the incredibly difficult "double full in" somersault. ;)
This routine is superb for its time, the floors were dead back then and its still superb in 2023. That first pass is even more difficult than majority of passes in WAG until this day. She combined grace with power, This is what you call Artistic Gymnastics! We don't give her enough recognition.
This isn't a double double, this is a double full-in. Alexis Brion also did one of these, but nobody else has ever. A double double was first done by Aleftina Priakhina in 1986, not Silivas though Silivas got it named after her.
It IS both a double double and a double full-in. Double double means 2 flips and 2 twists, which is what that skill has. What it's not is a full in full out.
The commentator is wrong, Tatiana performs a double full in: it's like a double double but the two twists are performed only in the first salto. It's hard to tell that that is what she is doing because it is such a complex and rare skill, and her form is a little bit negligible. If only she could have performed it at Worlds or the Olympics!
The fact that the CODE is fucked up (god, asswipe, is this your first gymnastics RODEO?) and does not distinguish between DIFFERENT SKILLS which require DIFFERENT TRAINING does not mean they are NOT DIFFERENT SKILLS to anyone with more than two brain cells. littlestarinthesky is exactly correct; the commentator is WRONG.
No, TECHNICAL TERMINOLOGY AT THE TIME referred to it as a double full-in. Apparently you never read International Gymnast, did you? Several different IG writers named it correctly then, as did Kathy Johnson once in some ESPN broadcast. YOUR ignorance is not the standard for all world knowledge, nor is YOUR lack of familiarity with the correct terminology an excuse either for YOU or for your *pitiful* attempts at posturing and condescension.
It can't be argued because you are so ignorant you cannot even see the reality of words describing DIFFERENT THINGS. The point at which the twist is done makes the skill different. A double full in is NOT comparable to a double twisting double back, as the OP and I have informed you multiple times. You're not only moronic, you are very, very dull. Run along now.
I know right. Grudneva shouldn’t have been chosen over her or Kalinina, but like Kalinina said it was politics as two Ukrainians were already named to the team and of course they needed a Russian on the team as the other members were Belarussians or Uzbeks.
@afgymnast96 yea thats right 1986, also one other girl did it before 1988. and i'm not shure but a double-full is not the same as a double-doubel, I think she ment a double-fuul in;)
I'm part of the gymnast community too and a double twisting back flip to me sounds like a backward flip with two twists :P Thus why we don't call a full in back out a full twisting back flip, cuz that sounds like the full twisting tuck back on beam. That skill is TECHNICALLY a double double cuz it's two twists and flips, however that usually refers to the full in full out. I agree with the other commenter; I'd refer to this as the double full-in.
0:31 "I don't think I've ever seen that move performed by a woman". Other gymnasts had done it previously and Silivas did in 1988 Olympics, in front of the broadcasting cameras.
Well, your 'welcome to gym' is a few years late, but thanks very much for the warm welcome anyways. I did not intend to say it was a double doulbe - obviously it is not. However, I would say it is a double full in.
If you resort to name-calling because someone got the name of an element wrong, please do your homework first and look up how the element is actually called. I'll give you a tip - it's NOT a double twisting back flip!
If only she was on the 92 team and we could’ve seen this routine on the Olympic stage. A true work of art.
She was the definition of technique to the max. She was deceptively powerful, as most soviets of that time who do extreme difficulty despite their frame.
It blows your mind that the Soviet team was so deep they could leave athletes this good at home.
Beautiful routine. Elegant, flowing, meticulously choreographed, working with the music, difficult tumbling - this is the epitome of the Soviet style. Even her mistakes were elegant. my thoughts exactly
Really sad....she was astounding in every way.
She'll always be remembered. And she'll gain new fans through youtube. :)

Top!
this was glorious! absolutely love the 1.5 turn to back wo. I need to watch more if her!
It's so sad. It's like Saadi was grooming Groshkova for the Barcelona '92 Olympics with this Spanish-themed FX. But it wasn't to be. :(
This routine was surely ahead of it's time, specially the 1½ turn and the second tumbling pass😮

It is a double full in. She was the first with this; Priakhina’s (1987) was a full in, full out.
Preciosa rutina, de mis favoritas 👏👏💓
fantastica wowowowow
thats amazing
@gymmonkey41 If I recollect correctly, not many gymnasts did front passes in the '89-'92 quad. The became more popular in COP in '93
Sensacional 🎉👏

The placement of the twists makes it a different skill, requiring different execution. So technically she is wrong.

And, actually, you moron, Priakhina did the skill first, though she never received credit for it.
ALGUÉM sabe me dizer por onde anda essa ginasta hoje aos 49 anos e oque ela faz da vida atualmente?
Obrigada a quem puder me responder.🙏
someone spent a lot of time at the ballet bar...
@afgymnast96 I'm pretty sure it's Elfi Schlegel giving the ... commentary.
Don't understand how they could take Grudneva over Groshkova in 1992
I know right. Grudneva shouldn’t have been chosen over her or Kalinina, but like Kalinina said it was politics as two Ukrainians were already named to the team and of course they needed a Russian on the team as the other members were Belarussians or Uzbeks.
WOW! i can inmagine why they call this the best routine ever!
not only is the tumbling great but also in het dance moves!
was the score a 10.0???
Tatiana Lysenko did alot of these same moves in Barcelona&the judges didn't reward her for it. Groshkova probavly would have been scored the same way.
Lysenko,Groshkova,Gustsu... Three Tatianas with amazing difficulty and elegance
@1hipster1
yes thais quite strange
@afgymnast96
yea thats right 1986,
also one other girl did it before 1988.

elegante similar al estilo de Korkhina
Does anyone know who broadcast this meet?
Was that a full in+half of a silivas?
Anyone know the name of the music?
La comparsa
@@marwahussein666 thank you 😊
@gymmonkey41 Double Double doesn't count?
It's not a double double. The double is in the FIRST somersault. It's a double in back out.
Very similar to Elvira Saadi's floor in 1974_1976
If you resort to name-calling because someone got the name of an element wrong, please do your homework first and look up how the element is actually called. I'll give you a tip - it's NOT a double twisting back flip!
after her final pass it looks like her neck breaks and her head snaps off...very dramatic...I'm just sayin'...
Why they picked Chusovitina (for me the less talented of urss team) and let her out
