When I started listening to this story about Leonie, I just had tears falling the whole time. This is such a touching story for mothers who have difficult children.
HOOOOOOOLY SMOKE!!! I never read the story of a Saint I could identify with as much. Leonie suffered because of her own mind, her own very real limitations, but Holy Mother what fierce and powerful faith came from that suffering. I am a convert, converted to the Church after a lifetime of mistake that mirror Leonie's pretty fairly. But how I love the stories of the Saints especially wonderful saints like this. Zelie, Mr. Martin, all the girls St. Therese....Gotta meet them all when I get Home. Lord, guide us ALL by your mercy.Amen
How wonderful to learn all this about Leonie - Sr. Frances-Thérèse. Thank you for this video! Gives so much hope to many souls who are struggling - and to the mothers of such souls! Servant of God, Sister Frances-Thérèse, pray for us and for our children!
I’ve always been drawn to Leonie’s story….in reading Therese’s book she always seemed to be the odd one out. A former Carmelite o me told me that Leonie might have had Autism Spectrum Disorder. She would be a powerful intercession for ASD families!
What I see is a family graced with great faith who rightly held it more dear than life. These are what I believe would be called "chosen." Most of us aren't like this. But I do believe God is ready to give us the grace to belong to Him in this way. It's about what we are willing to abandon to have it. "Go and sell all you own, and come and follow me." With spouses children and work, I have to abandon myself right where I am. I pray we all can get closer every day.
I truly love this video about Leonie! Many years ago I read Story of a Soul, Story of a Family and Leonie Martin and your video reminded me of the many beautiful details about the saintly family! I've searched for the Story of a Family as an audio book but have not been able to find it. I'm still searching! I enjoy your channel so much! Thank you for all the spiritual treats! Bless you and your family! 🙏
I’m so glad you did a video on Leonie. I got to know her from 2 books. “The Extraordinary Parents of St. Thérèse of Lisieux: Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin” and “Leonie Martin: A Difficult Life”, she is a beautiful soul that never quite and the world should know more about her.
Asked her holy sister to pray for me. The 17th June rc faith retuned. Later I discovered that 17 June is the day venerable Leonie went to Heaven. Thank you St Thérèse in Jesus.
When I read about the maid story, I was really sad for her. Learning disabilities, poor health, and a secret tormentor at home, then the death of her mother, no wonder she struggled.
This is bizarre! How can they know this much about her and she's not even beatified?? Try as I might, I cannot feel any kinship with St. Therese... but with this Martins sister, I thoroughly can. I will pray to her 🙏🌹❤️
It's kind of hard to put oneself on the same "wavelength" as Saint Therese of Lisieux. The "Little Flower" was so devout, so holy from such a young age, the gifts given to her so amazing...who can understand that kind of grace? But read 'Diary of a Soul" with an open heart. At the end of the day, the way I see it, it's all about Love.
In my personal experience, Léonie complements my devotion to Saint Therese. It was just after learning about Léonie that I finally understood Therese, because Leonie was the smallest soul you could find, and it was for that reason that she is the Martin sister that learned the little way best. With her I can see how my limitations may be my path to Heaven. Its almost as if Léonie translated Story of a soul for me, and now I see what Therese was actually teaching this whole time... Léonie needs to be canonized!
That's correct, but the video never stated she was the youngest. Maybe you find it confusing because the story focused on the first 3 oldest girls before Therese came along? So yes, for a while, Leonie was the youngest until Celine came and then Therese.
Poor woman. She had a nasty mother superior and an overly controlling mistress of novices in Caen. I knew some girl in a similar situation in another visitation monastery. Seems to be typical of these visitandines, who seem to think that the fact that they have less physical toughness than other orders must be compensated for by emotional abuse and coldness. Such a shame.

It's not an accident that you found her story. Make her a very close friend and pray to her for assistance in all your needs!

The picture was recognized right away -- that's Lione!
This was well done. I always wondered what happened to her. What an exceptional family!

I thought it was so heartbreaking to hear how she stayed so close to her mother after that. She must have been so conflicted!

story of a soul is the best spiritual book I have read , it's meant to be an easy version of the bible, it's beautiful

There was much love and affection between all the Martin sisters, but Celine was the disciple of Therese more than anyone else.
We recognized the picture who it was, Leonie.

Leonine was not youngest is the Martin family. St Therese of the Child Jesus was. St Therese of Lisoux.
