- The Mighty Forest River that has an entrance with mind blowing escarpments is where I haven’t been for quite a few years and now it time to show you how amazing the country is around Wyndham. On this adventure I explore new ground where to fish but the wind is not playing the game, but I keep pushing on.

In my 3 years in Wyndham in the 1990’s I had the Oombulgarri RFDS clinic every week. Used ord air Cessna charter as RFDS didn’t want to risk their Beechcraft Barron on Oombulgarri rough airstrip although it did fly in for emergencies. Record was 12 minutes from takeoff to landing a bit quicker than your trip.
The clinic staff did take me for a fish after one clinic but no Barra. I flew all over that amazing country from Derby to Balgo Kalumburu & Darwin on the RFDS planes.

What a great backdrop to enjoying your favourite pastime. Extra fuel and ice and you can stay out even longer simply fantastic. The colours appear to be dancing around the rock face depending on the different times of the day and the trees are a deep green colour from decent rainfall. It's a great contrast. It reminds me of the Grand canyon in the US. You have to see it at dawn and dusk and middle of the day the colour changes are breathtakingly beautiful. Lifes great mate!🤠👌🤙👍🎣🐟✅️
Spot on Chris about the colours mate changes 3 times of a day the video footage doesn’t do it justice. Dry rare to be able to get fuel dropped of a you would have seen in vlogs not to many boats on the water and where I head too. The Grand Canyon would be amazing to see in real life ❤️. Absolutely loving life mate

Heaps of crabs Pete, it’s a bugger we can’t use traps in W.A especially Wyndham as we are so close to the NT. Would make it a lot easier not checking every 30min and pots getting ripped apart from crocs

only been to Wyndham twice, once in the late 80's and again in 2021, both by car without a boat just exploring....huge mistake :) Absolutely stuniing backdrop on the escarpment and hills in Forrest River, reminds me of the East Alligator fresh water side in Kakadu. Great drone footage in the cave and have to agree you can't beat freshly cooked saltwater barra either hot or cold.

Very similar country mate from Kakadu. I was hoping to see aboriginal art work in the cave but no Luck. Can’t beat a salty Barra for sure.

Yeah mate it did pretty crazy and also a bone 🦴 if a roo or something. I really wasn’t sure to add the cave in but thought some people will like it.

Amazing Country mate and that’s just the tip of the iceberg got some special spots that will blow peoples minds away. Very lucky here the fishing can be good all year round good chance I’ll see you out on the water

Amazing Brother Dave. I miss Wyndham. We’re all a bit nervous about the next episode. I remember back when you were using barbless hooks. From preview it doesn’t look like you’re using them now. Ouch. Beautiful scenery in this episode.

Is the Forrest River accessible by public roads or private land OR only by WATER ?

Why don't you put a couple of pots in and give us a bit more variety ?
This trip I couldn’t take crab pots as the Ord river doesn’t have crabs up in the fresh and then the crocs would rip them apart. I didn’t plan going to the Forrest river or spending a few more days out on the water. With such a small boat and having crab pots plus camping gear makes it hard and with W.A rules we can’t use traps. That would be a lot easier and not checking every 30min plus the burning of extra fuel. I think I done 480km for the whole trip.
I will be mixing it up soon Mark and definitely will be taking some pots out while camping. You have read my mind

The other part is tides to mate there’s 7m defence from low to high where creeks just don’t hold any water so when crabbing normally it’s on small tidal movements 👌👍

Hey Sean, I am mate but I think my boat is too small and really have to plan those trips if it blows up not fun at all so I can’t help you out there sorry. Have you tried the barge that leaves from Wyndham ? He heads up that way often mate.
