@@sexysdub it depends on the size of bead. Standard size beads is usually a 6. Because the stretch cords are fairly thick I would only recommend one string and tying 2 knots.

Nice and informative vid. I have 13 permanent waistbeads and all made with different threads. I used fishing line, upholstery thread, dental floss, spider wire & trilene cord ( those two are types of fine fishing line). They all have pros and cons. Some have popped over the years but most of them I've made with 14 or 30lb fishing line. But I want to know what type of thread they be using in Ghana and some African countries.

Look for size 10 double the strand if using small beads with a beading needle and triple it if your using size 6 beeds or larger. So I have five strands of beads which fit rather snug when I got them originally. Over the course of a year I lost weight and nearly lost a few of them to the latrine. I need to restring them and then re-tie them. I’m thinking the very last type of string Nymo (I think it was)…. Wish me luck!!!

@@fj4396 so am I, I have 13 strands I have been wearing for the last 5-6 yrs but over the yrs some have pop and I redo them. I use mainly 30lb or double 14lb fishing line and I use a crimp and crimp cover when I do. I also used spider wire and trilene cord (20&40lb) which is a type of fishing line I get from the fisherman store, I've tried dental floss but that freys after a while like the upholstery thread and the embroidery thread.
I also use bicone beads as wells and the constant friction cause cut through those threads more easier than the fishing line. So it's a bit of a trial and error to me to see which thread is more durable especially for permanent waistbeads.
