I noticed not just in this but for awhile that a lot of Mexicans play this fighting game the most rather than the top ones like Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc. Is it because of the availability of the game or just their personal preference and just love this fighting game series the most?
Apparently in the 90's it was relatively easy to bootleg certain arcade boards, and SNK cabs were (surprisingly) cheaper and more efficient to copy. This led to an abundance of cabs in China (which is why SNK is so popular there as well, just look who owns the licenses now) and the surplus were sold to countries like Mexico. Since consoles were much more expensive to get than spending change on arcade machine, many youths had their early gaming experiences with these cabinets. This is one of the reasons SNK properties are so popular among Latin and Mexican communities.
