Plowing deep snow - FINALLY!

- It took a long time but we finally had a half way decent snow storm. I love plowing snow and I was getting bored! The skid loader plow did its job, Bugs and Jade showed up for work and it really wasn't bad at all. Enjoy
It was nice to see Bugs. I miss seeing all of the guys. God bless, brother in Christ.
Watching this video now and you mentioned one of your goals in life was to own your own shop where you can park your trucks looks like your there Ryan good work my friend
People who don’t like cold and snow, could probably never understand, but snow clearing is a very rewarding job to those people who enjoy dealing with it. I use a large wheelhorse tractor, with a heated cab, and electric chute rotation and deflection, it’s relaxing with a sense of accomplishment when you are finished. 👍
i enjoy the cold from a warm environment but it has to be the most satisfying thing clearing that powdered gold
@@shanebryant6478 I enjoy the warm too, that’s why I have a big heater in my cab, lol 😂 can actually do my driveway in shirtsleeves, and I have a large driveway. 😁 I’ve been modifying it for years, getting lazier, and lazier. 👍
Snow clearing is not rewarding. I did snow removal for 15 years. The cleanup afterwards is terrible
@@HolezGT I can understand if you are doing it for a living, but for personal work it’s rewarding to me, gets me outta the house, and I enjoy tweaking my tractor. I have done some professionally, and dealing with homeowners can make it a lot less fun. And if you read what I said, it’s for those who enjoy doing it, doing something you don’t enjoy is never going to be rewarding. Hopefully you are doing something now you enjoy, it makes life a lot easier. 👍
With that set up, anybody would enjoy it! Lol
My dream job. It's so peaceful and serene being out in a snowstorm. Just wonderful
having plowed that property for over a decade, i'd be happy you left all the free salt. same with that drive thru. been there, done that. thx for sharing
If you Will put both Visors Down - when you turn on your defroster it will push the Air back down and cause the windows to Defrost Faster, I used wind shield washer fluid 1 gallon pour 1/2 into another gallon jug, take a bottle of rubbing alcohol and pour 1/2 into each gallon jug and buy a bottle of Rain-X and pour 1/2 into each jug - Shake- then put 2 oz. Of Dawn soap, in each jug and fill with more windshield fluid- shake one more time- and fill tank under hood, Believe me - it works Great, the alcohol keeps it from freezing, the soap helps with the bugs, and the Rain-X helps with the Rain. I was a Long haul trucker for 20 years- it works- Good Luck 🍀
Good tips 👍💪
Awesome. Thanks for taking us through the process 🙏 ❤️
Your comment about the condos was spot on. I did one of them a few years ago and that was the only year, people complaining because their driveway wasn't the first one done. Not worth the headache of dealing with those types of people.
You got some good guy in bugs..
No doubt.
Your blessed to have the ones who surround you ..
Hey don't give up n getting a shop of ur own hope one day you get it especially with winter I'd b nice to have all ur equipment nice n warm n stored
Ryan. Great video! The glowplugs on a duramax use the exterior temperature to dictate how long they should be running. They also cycle after when the ignition is running dependant on combustion temp etc. Your truck also has a DEF tank heater that works based on the same concept. Hope that helps. The noise you're hearing is not normal, in 4x4, I would take a video of it for the dealer. I have owned many duramaxes since they came out.
whining noise is NOT a normal occurrence when 4wd Auto is on. This goes back to GMT800 with the introduction of the AutoTrac Transfer cases and Auto 4wd. Are you using Auto 4wd or manually switching to 4-lo or 4-hi? Its possible the axle has straight cut gears within, but unlikely. Also possible whine from going "too fast" in 4-lo
Thank you for the info I have a 2008 DRW 4x4. Some mechanics say glo plugs don’t worry. Just crank it up. But. I usually half turn then crank after a few seconds. Don’t know if that is right but would like. A better insight info on it. Thanks. TIA. MICHELE Greenville Fl. 😊😊
Awesome video Ryan. I work for my states DOT. Plowing and salting the roads is my favorite part of my job. I also own two pickup trucks with plows and salt spreaders. My son and I also operate a lawn service. We plow 35 driveways and 4 commercial parking lots. I go out and plow after my shift and help my son. My father had an asphalt paving business he started back in 1962 and he plowed snow for winter income. Dad had a 1979 Ford F-250 back when I got my drivers license. He would finish his route and any extra calls he got for plowing were mine to do. I always liked when it was a snow day. I made good money back then. Snow is in my blood …!
Those boss plows are nothing but trouble here in Canada but they do work quite well when they want to it’s kind of a shame
It’s a nice touch and helps us snow plow workers work efficiently when we plow the roads. I hate to do it sometimes but it’s easier like you said to maintain driveway approach to keep clean. I haven’t been bother either with my areas but definitely the city plows appreciate it too.
Hi to Bugs and Jade! Great to see them both. I think Jade was initially kinda nervous that she wasn't driving with her dad but as usual, the more you talk to her (dogs in general) the less nervous they are.
Our dog can be a real Nervous Nelly now that he's getting up in age, but if I sit and talk to him (it's just him and I these days since my daughter's grown up and moved out and on with her life and career) he settles down. I firmly believe that if dogs are particularly bonded to their human, hearing their voice is comforting.
Whether this is right or not in this case, it was great to see both Bugs and Jade. Sure miss seeing them over the winter.

Yes sir! Glowplugs on modern diesels only needs a few seconds. Alot of people in modern common rail diesels dont even realise the glow light comes on it goes out that quick
Bugs calling jade a lil crackhead had me rolling 🤣😂
I’m a general manager at McDonald’s and that’s exactly why we will pull you.
We are being judge based off of performance.
It will continue to be that way with the direction fast food is going.
Gotta love and respect the kid doing his job properly.
The timer is from a company called HME
Hey Ryan, the reason the glow plugs don't stay on very long is on new common rail diesels they have such high injection pressure and superior spray on the injectors that they light off a lot easier than the old lower pressure injectors. My work semi doesn't even have a wait to start glow plug light, you just start it and it seems to fire up. Almost identically whether it's 0° or 95 °.
0f isnt very cold here in canada try -40c
@Bullet Bikes nice biceps, flex them harder. 0°F is cold for a diesel engine.

I really enjoy watching the snow roll off the from of the plow as he does the long push.
Hope all the condo residents appreciate you being out in that weather clearing the snow! Nice work!👍👍🇺🇸
Wow all that snow ❄ here no snow yet in Tennessee you are so nice too be Plowing all those houses and roads I hope they Appreciate what you do
Ryan, the glow plugs on the new truck stay on a lot longer than that light. Watch your voltage gauge to tell when they turn off before starting on cold days. It’ll make the glow plugs last longer.
Leave it Chevy to be Baffons
I live in South Dakota, we have similar winters. What happened at 9:02 with the truck spinning out happened to me once. I was driving slow, I barely moved the steering wheel and I went spinning😂 I’m glad I was the only idiot on the road at that time.
Tip for you when your sitting and idling your truck if you push the e brake down 1 click then press set on the steering wheel for cruise control your truck will high idle around 1000 rpm. It will warm up faster and is better for the engine to idle a little higher.
Tried this on my 18 sierra 1500 gas but no luck. Is this just for diesel engines?
Just works on duramax diesels
l injoyed watchen you plow. i watche every viedo u make. god bless you and your family. great work!
Love the video with Bugs and Jade, love the snow, but I'll keep my south Texas weather. You are right your popularity does reach other contractors. IM PUTTING THIS IN BOLD SO YOU SEE THIS. im sure someone has commented this already. but you should absolutely love the way that plow hooks up, you should NOT be fighting with it. you should drive in (as long as your straight) and it should go right on. ive dealt with this in the past. ive owned a ton of boss plows, if your hole is not the correct height off the ground you will have the exact issue you have where it wont line up properly. i kow the required height for the smaller dxt and vxt (8.2 and 9.2') plows is around 15.5-16" im assuming your plow is the 10ft boss, which has different height requirements. if i remember correctly the center of the holes on your mount should be 16.5" from the ground. its very easy to adjust. let me know if you have any other questions.
As a person that lives in a place where it never gets anywhere near cold enough to snow, this is really fascinating to watch.
Hey man I'm a Diesel Tech in Rockford IL. If that truck is still under warranty take it in and have that transfer case checked out. Definitley not normal for it to be sounding like that. Love your channel my guy and been watching since 2020.
thankful to see a new video!!!!!! This has become my nightly routine. I work for the largest util company in the plains area in the network operations center.. basically staying awake until midnight.. your videos are amazing, and often time carry a message i need to hear. thank you for being a great role model
We have a very similar truck at work with the same boss plow. The plow is always a pain to line up. We have a slide out step on the side for when you need to get into the bed to move salt. Make sure you grease the bed pins really really good because they rust really fast
At the end “oh right on my new truck”. I guarantee Jade is cleaner than both the Darryl’s.
I gotta say man, i watch so many blue collar workers doing different trades on TH-cam, you are the only person other than the dirt money that I would actually love to work for. You just have so much knowledge and are so humble, I’m sure you’re such a great boss. Happy to see you and your company doing good in the snow. Good luck in 2023
Ryan my man! Doing gods work! I’m sure your community loves a great guy like yourself helping them out! Great video!
Love he is able to bring his dog with him. Mine also goes everywhere with me.
So good to see Bugs and Jade! They are such an amazing duo! 😅😅
I sooooo missed seeing Jade.
I love me some Jade , and Bugs is super cool.
I live in the Rockies. If you have a light powder snowfall, use a leaf blower to move it off your trucks. It’s quick work. Even my battery powered blower will move it. I saw my neighbor doing it two years ago and thought he was nuts. Then I tried it.
Good stuff Ryan, your community are blessed to have you ❤
Found a job doing construction and start looking up videos out of nervousness but ended up going down a rabbit hole, I watched this every night lol
From Erie pa we normally always get a lot of lake effect snow. This year we only got a few light dustings.
I work in the ND oilfields and i cant remember a single time we had problems starting our heavy equipment in the severe cold... especially our bobcat. People will leave it outside in -25* and it'll fire right up. Obviously It isn't good for engine and hydraulics but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Another great video Ryan! I can never get bored watching you and the boys livin the dream LOL Keep up the great work you will be rewarded!!
1981 my family bought a gas station.. The first week it snowed 16 ft.. I had to weld extend the boom 3ft on a 8end Ford tractor making piles higher then our buildings.. BC 🇨🇦
I don’t know how… but you make the most simple things interesting. To us who’ve never seen that side of the world it’s very amusing. Keep doin your thing man!
I always tell my sidewalk guys if the lot are clean dump snow somewhere else not on lot where it was just plowed …if lots not plowed sure push snow there …great video
Morning victory family love the videos Ryan thanks for being my favorite channel on YT
Hey Ryan! Im taking a diesel diagnosis class currently. For the glow plugs being on so short is because of the newer trucks they have different ways of heating up the cylinder. If it's from adding less il under the piston to changing the timing of the injectors or even throwing exhaust gases back into the cylinder. Older diesel have a pump line nozzle designs which cant adjust injector timing just injector pressure. The newer ones have a common rail which can do that. It also has to do with the fact that they're more complex and can heat up quicker and depending on the temperature either stay on longer or shorter. Hope this helps a little bit.
Stay safe bro. I love your videos keep up the good work. Praying for you and your family and coworkers. I hope you guys have a great 2023 year. I've been watching every video since day 1.
Get a aux tank and fill it with off road diesel. Save some bucks in the long run. Different ways to go about it. Keep it up Ryan!
I’m more disappointed that he didn’t take the garbage out then he’s fired Daryl
Ryan, I enjoyed this video. I love snow, but here in East Tennessee we don't get much snow anymore. It was soothing to see the snow. Buggs and Jade are great to see anytime. Buggs is a great loyal employee that you can always count on, and trust to do things on his own. Even if Jade got in the seat of your new truck with snow all over her. She's a great dog!!!
Where’s the Destroyer been? I feel like I missed something with that? Did he get the boot from Victory??
If you ever have issues with snow sticking to your plow or even anywhere you don't want snlow sticking get a can of Pam cooking spray works amazing I use to use it on my ATV plow love the videos

For anybody confused about why the young guy at the window wanted Ryan to move to a parking spot when there was nobody behind him. These fast food restaurants have a time frame they aim to have cars moved on by, usually 20 seconds or so. So if they know you’re order will take more than 20 seconds to prepare you’re moved so it looks like they’ve hit their target to any bosses or so watching footage of the store of giving you your food within 20 seconds - even though they actually haven’t. My old partner used to work in McDonald’s and told me this
Yup this is true. It's usually a sensor that on the road that times how long the vehicle has been at the window

The newer deisel engines are high-pressure fuel systems. So the plugs don't need to be on long for it to start the truck. It's normal don't worry about it.
Love your videos Ryan!! You guys are awesome!
You're right.... I bet its normal because it's a heavy duty setup. It also probably has a upgraded Allison and transfer case compared to the pickup version. You could have it checked... but I would say it's normal. Also maybe because of the gearing in the Trans and rear. That could make the driveline whine more. From a tractor- trailer point.... I would hear the driveline whine more depending on the rears.

You have a brand new truck Ryan, but on my old 89 gmc when the rpm's would rev past 2000, the speakers would emit this noise similar to what I am hearing from your truck. Of course, the speakers in my 89 were original to the truck and the radio didn't work so it was easy to pin point where the sound was coming from. Never got that one explained to me

Its funny how fast food places have you pull up. Its because their sensors record how long cars are waiting for their food and if they have you wait too long that branch gets points against them.
