I've been obsessed with Barns Courtney for a month, have seen everything there is to see about him on TH-cam (and obviously have listened to his albums non-stop), and it all started with that Lollapalooza video, I was amazed and so worried at the same time hahaha, like suffering with joy! I really really wanna see him live one day.
Damn, Michael, what you just said about bringing the audience in, instead of “presenting” their art.... this is what I love about Shakey Graves....and I don’t know much about playing guitar, but even I like your quick, smart dissections of artists playing!
I recall hearing an interview with Gregg Allman on the radio before the Allmans came to town, and the interviewer asked him "what do you want the audience to get out of your show?" His response was "Their money's worth"
Well, this video was certainly different. For the first time, I didn't pay attention to the reaction lesson. Instead, I asked myself these questions: Who got her the nurse's costume that fit her perfectly? Who was tasked to source the gurney quickly? Who was backstage, freaking out, ready to call 911 in case the opposite side bone broke with that jumping on one foot? Now, I have to go back and take some learnings for this video. As they say in Social Media, thanks for sharing this one.
I’ve said my whole life (even as a young man) that music isn’t always about being the most intricate. I love the prog rock bands but damn do some of the simple bands put on a show. It’s all about connection in stadium concerts like this. When you’re in a small venue you can get away with high level stuff and even bullshittery but big crowds wants sing along and interaction.
Michael... Love the channel. You're definitely my favorite youtube guitar player teacher talking person guy. Yup! Here's the thing: The internet isn't what it appears to be. Despite the abundance of content on the internet, and the ease at which it is claimed the average person can connect with the world, we all know how hard it is to find things--mainly because there is so much. So thanks to talking person guys like you who "sift and report" so to speak, the rest of us are able to "find" much easier. Case and point: Barns Courtney. Cheers brother. Be grateful.
Seems like Barns's almost signature thing is literally breaking a leg while on tour and performing nevertheless. I saw him when he last was in Poland with My Chemical Romance and same thing happened - he broke his leg (probably even the same one) on the airport in Warsaw and performed either way giving a great show, walking around on stage, jumping. He probably even destroyed one piece of stage equipment (as tech guys near me commented) when the electricity went out due to a nearby storm and he got down as near as possible to the front row and sang something with his own acoustic guitar. Great perfomer & so much energy on stage ^^
Michael, you are really a great TEACHER, and a great person, I really enjoy each of your videos! Keep it up! Stay Safe. I have sent you a personal email.
Michael, love your videos and a long time fan! You said once, probably more than once. You love when people show you something that you’ve never heard before. Please do react video to my new favorite band: Greta van Fleet - Build by Nation (official live)
You should check out and do a react to some JJ Grey & Mofro, awesome band with a distinct sound. Songs to check out would be 99 Shades of Crazy, The Sun is Shining Down from the OurVinyl sessions and from the same show Brave Lil Fighter. Derek Trucks plays on the studio cuts of Lullaby and Every Minute. Promise you won’t be disappointed.
@@indianasquatchunters Got tickets to see them in September, can’t wait for it!! I’ve seen JJ do a solo show a few years ago but never with the whole band. It should be a great show.
Hi So, not relevant at all to this video but I've been scrolling down on all your videos and can't find any reaction containing one of the best guitarist alive, and of all time (at least in my book). Steve Lukather. Would be great to hear you analyze some of the things he's done. Sooo much to chose from aswell. Otherwise - a great channel in every way. Keep it up!!
whts up man u got 12 thumbs up good ! groovy ness, find 10 min of delight every day, at least its a very framton riff, but at 8.05 what? on the ground! wtf mass hypnosis
Love Barns Courtney!! You should react to Pride and Joy by Brandi Carlile. This is the completely unplugged version which is absolutely incredible and shows off just how purely talented they are! th-cam.com/video/swbCYNdm6b4/w-d-xo.html This is the amplified version which also fantastic. Really it’s all about preference, they’re both amazing. th-cam.com/video/W7vxzRBcGg0/w-d-xo.html
Night's still good for a gram or two and have a little fun before they put us in the ground are great lyrics 😎 llf wrong song. That's sinner. Give it a listen

I’ve enjoyed his songs since 2022
The best concert I have ever been to was Barnes Courtney. If you can find a little general admission one, absolutely worth it.

Seems like a lot of trouble just to get a woman to dress up like a nurse :-)
Sorry, but did this Barnes guy perform a song? I feel cheated and want my money back. He will be quickly forgotten.
