    Pretty darn clever. I like it. Thank you young man for learning to crochet and being willing to teach the things that you know.

    Thank you, interesting stitch. Tunisian has very many different stitches it seems. Good tutorial, very clear instructions.

    On return pass row 4 i keep winding up with 6 stitches instead of 5, was so frustrating. Everything else was spot on and well told. I know i must be doing something wrong either in the beginning or end, i truly hope you help me, i loved the stitch and tutorial! Thank you!

    On the last rows of my experiences with Tunisian crochet, I inserted the hook under the front bar of the shell and also under the front loop behind that shell, and then finished it to a single crochet. In that way I had single crochets all across the row.

    It might take forever but this would look beautiful in a large throw that's been felted.

    It would be extremely helpful if you told us how many total stitches should be on the hook after each row..... I started with 20 and by the end of row 3 was down to 12 so I must be doing something wrong..... Have been through the tutorial twice and keep getting the same result.

    I think at the end of row two before starting three when there are five loops on the hook should it not be that you chain two them pull through the four then draw a loop and pull through the last two? when you go back you say there are three chains there but there aren't.

    Tips:1$ You need to work it really loose. 2)There arent 3 chains between the shells, there are 2 so you just have to look at whats there and figure out for your self the best places to work the stitches so that they are as far apart as you can make them.working into the first chain is an extreme PITA regardless of how loose you try to make it , so try just pulling up a loop from the whole chain space and seeing if you like it, For me it looks fine and I am Happier not spending half a minute to work through each first chain .3)If you look behind the work you will see there are two loops behind the top of the shell, its easier to put the hook downwards into both of them, it becomes easy after a short while once youve got the angle right.

    What kind of needle if you are doing a baby blanket? That is a lot of stitches to hold on a regular size needle

    • @ericcub78
      @ericcub78 ปีที่แล้ว

      you would use a Tunisian crochet hook that has a long cord on the non-working end to hold all your loops.

  • @SydMountaineer

    It's not 10 + 2, it is 3 + 1, so starting with 12 stitches will not work, you'll be missing one loop if you start with 12. To practice this stitch, start with 10, 13, 16, (or any multiple of 3 plus 1). What's very frustrating, and not fair to viewers, is that the person doing the video starts with 12 sts, then stops the video after showing the repeat twice, then when they come back, at about 2:50 , they have 3 loops left on the hook - but if they had truly started with 12 sts, there will only be 2 loops left on the hook, not 3, so it APPEARS that they were able to end with 3 sts for the half shell at end, but that's impossible, so viewers think it should work out that way. Not funny.

      If you just go to the main page and then the crochet stitches I found the tutorial in their list of crochet stitches. Or just put in newstitchada.com/tunisian-ocean-stitch/ and that should bring it up - or use the http: if it doesn't. My browser doesn't need it.

    I also have a hard time following this video, and I'm not very familiar with Tunisian. It would be helpful IF you would continue through stitches several times (or entire row); since there are only 2 rows to repeat, those stitches which were difficult to see / understand may become clearer as you go completely across ?

    Can anyone tell me how to c2c tss? Or better known as corner to corner tunisian simple stitch?

  • @satsumamoon
    @satsumamoon 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is very quickly worked once you figure out how to do it. Its also easy once you figure a way to remember how the ends and beginning work eg. Return pass: Beginning, if there are two stitches before the first group of three, then YO and pull through before commencing the pattern repeat, otherwise, just commence thepattern repeat. End of row)If there three stitches left at the end, then just yO and pull through. If there are two, then chain two first

    • @SydMountaineer
      @SydMountaineer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problem is with the repeat, it is 3+1, not 10+2. If you do it with 12, you will end up with only 2 sts left, which is not enough to make the half shell on the end.

    • @patriciajrs46
      @patriciajrs46 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SydMountaineer Thank you for pointing out the problem. I am going to have to go back and learn the context of the formulas. I have forgotten what they mean.

    Having a hard time following you, on the first return. Not clear where the chain below is and where to skip. I can't follow written instructions and pausing video is my only way to learn. When you are describing the chains to draw through your fingers were such that I couldn't see. LOL, my best guess was a mess several times. If you do this again maybe you can slow up and zoom in on your work? I love this pattern and will continue to try to make this work.

    • @kraftyiam
      @kraftyiam 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree with you. I was excited to see it come out on the first pass, l to r, but going back to left I couldn't tell either. It would also depend on how many chains one started with in order to get the '5 loops' at end as in the video - what a mess...didn't come out pretty at all for me either :-(

    It's great hearing instructions in a voice that's not female for a change! I did have trouble following the instructions, though. I agree with what someone else said in that it would be helpful to know how many loops should be on the hook after the forward pass. I would assume 12/22/32 etc from the instructions, but I didn't get the correct # of leftover loops on the return pass, so maybe it should be multiples of 12? (12/24/36)?
