Ah, well it's happened plenty of times. Check out Shamil Zavurov vs Mansour Barnoui, Islam Makhachev vs Adriano Martin's, Ikram vs Khamzat, Daniel Pineda vs Movlid Khaybulaev, Magomed Magomedov vs Patchy Mix I, Michel Pereira vs Lorenz Larkin vs Mukhamed Berkhamov and there's plenty other examples.
Even ikram on 3 days notice is a problem. Rob made it look easy, he looked switched on.

As someone who's never been in a real fight but have gone through a bad tooth infection this is very interesting for me. Worst pain I've been in so it's a relief to hear a tough beast like Bobby Knucks felt it like I did.

Rob vs Sean is fascinating as a standing fight gets because we have arguably the best controller of distance in Strickland versus arguably the best closer of distance in Whittaker.

man those certain toothe pains are literally the worste pain ive ever felt. I dont even know if getting your arm cut off would be worse (joking) but its that serious. Its not just the toothe the pain starts effecting your whole jaw and then into your brain. Its crazy he had that taken care of only 1 week out.

Volk just dropping how he would easily have a 4th fight against Holloway is kind of crazy considering how Max whoops other guys and Volk will take him again on a whim. Levels to this stuff.
And Rob is right he isn't anyone's replacement fighter. He is the most popular MW and has the most prestige in the division barring Izzy.
After his first loss to Izzy he said, “I’m not going anywhere” …well Whittaker was either the champion or a top 3 ranked middleweight before Izzy’s reign, during Izzy’s reign, after Izzy’s reign, during Izzy’s reign again, after Izzy’s retirement and during Izzy’s return from retirement. He beat all the guys Izzy beat and when they lost to Izzy there was always something wrong with them that night or the fight, but after losing to Whittaker they just said they need to work on some stuff at the gym….

He said he is not coming back till the end of the year, or beginning of next year. That is 5-8 months in addition to the time he has already taken off

We were all hoping for the long break, but apparently Volk has too much pride to take a good long break and is likely going to get violently knocked out in his next fight. Sucks to see my favorite fighter go out like this. Doesn't matter if the UFC won't give him a fight, the guy didn't have the sense to avoid sparring for more than three and a half months, after two back-to-back knockouts. I guess his career wasn't worth a couple extra months. Pride can really kill you man
