Rest In Peace To The Great Comedians Robin Williams & Gilbert Gottfried.
I didn't know Gilbert passed! S.O.B! 😢
@@horimo8920 it’s OK. His last role was playing God in smiling friends. (a good one, not a douche bag.)
@@horimo8920it was awhile ago but yea
@@jacobwood7156The last time I saw him on TV was during the pandemic. Crap, I'm behind...
Why Do You Type Like This? It Makes Your Comment A Bit Difficult To Read.
One detail I really like is that when Aladdin is Ali whenever he lies the feather on his hat droops down in front of his face.
2:00 Fun fact: the reason Robin Williams did not voice the Genie in Return of Jafar is actually pretty noble. See, in the first film, he hated he was being used for brand recognition at the risk of shutting out new talent. So the agreement was they could only use his name for a maximum of 25% of the promotional material. Disney broke that, so in retaliation he refused to film the second movie.
Wonder what made him come back for King of Thieves then?
Wish I knew. If only I could find the video I learned this from...@@DarkLord-7
Because Robin wouldn’t drop out of voicing Batty Coda in FernGully
42:01 Jim Cummings, who also voiced the Guard Captain in ALADDIN
The creators of KIM POSSIBLE, Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle, wrote the two ALADDIN sequels and also exec-produced the TV series (as well as became the Head Writers).
Williams actually quit playing the Genie largely because of Jeff Katzenberg, who largely promised they wouldn't advertise the Genie in their commercials and Katzenberg obviously ignored it when test audiences were obviously loving the Genie.
Dan "Homer Simpson" Castenella, who voiced the Genie in RETURN OF JAFAR and the TV series had already largely done his work for ALADDIN AND THE KING OF THIEVES, when in a last ditch effort, Disney again pleaded with Robin WIlliams to return one last time as the Genie. Since Katzenberg had left Disney at this point, Williams did agree, but then, he did FLUBBER for Disney and they did the very same thing. It was the final straw and to the day he passed away, he never did another project with Disney.
Then after Williams's passing, Disney was like, "Nope!" and bought Fox, ergo owning _Robots_ which came out in 2005 and had Williams in it.
What about "Old Dogs"? That was a Disney movie.
I heard a good portion of this story before but was completely unaware of the Flubber half of the story, that is interesting! 😮
Also, Doug Langdale, another writer and story editor for the TV show, would later create The Weekenders and Dave the Barbarian for Disney as well.
There will never be anyone who can do Genie better than Robin Williams, no one.
Encanto was that last little drop of hope before it was smashed completely, now they expect you to get excited for Frozen 4 and 3 hasn't even come out yet
You could say Disney gave their audience a cold shoulder with those announcements.
No kidding 😂
34:45 'Don't they look lovely, June?'
'Fabulous, Harry. I love the feathers.'
I think 2 fictional hosts of the Macy's thanksgiving day parade, if you look closely they both have condensation on their breath from the cold weather around the time of year the parade is held.
or maybe, June is a reference to June Lockhart.
and Harry, a reference to Harry Reasoner.
or just 2 random Thanksgiving Parade commentors.
22:20, 22:40 Prince Achmed, voiced by Corey Burton, the voice of Yen Sid in Kingdom Hearts games.
28:03 i especially love the Cave of Wonders' final words: Infidels! You have touched the forbidden treasure! Now you will never again see the light of day!
The Cave of Wonders' final words would work. . . for the Bambi remake.
19:30 the cave of wonders, voiced by frank welker, also voices abu the monkey and rajah the tiger.
that badass voice? also, voice of megatron from 80s transformers and dr. claw from 80s inspector gadget.
You guys don't know what you're talking about. If I ever meet Arnold I'm asking him to say "put that cookie down!"
The only reason they didn’t mention the “Star Wars Debacle” is because it still got Disney a shit ton of money. Even if the content wasn’t good, they still made loads of money, especially compared to 2023
20:20 capt razoul, voiced by jim cummings.
41:57 jeremy irons first, but when he sung 'you won't get a sniff without me!', jim cummings substituted in for the song's remaining lyrics.
11:05 With Nick’s mention of Tower of Terror, I came up with a monologue of the Twilight Zone theme here:
“There was a man who created an empire to delight those who came to his happy place, from onscreen to the physical realm. The masses were given the childlike idea that there’s more to life than their everyday existence, feeling aspired. The world is for the taking.
Then the creation lives on long after the creator is gone. And over the years, the hopes and dreams that have been part of the American culture has taken a slope. It then gives everyone the notion that, as we age and see the world for how it is, it is not everything that we were taught by our parents and teachers.
But the one bright star in the gigantic veil of blackness is that it is difficult to get inside an individual’s head to an extent by that said empire. As the world spins, we are only left with what kind of values we individually hold, as we continuously live in…..
The Twilight Zone.”
35:20 Concerns were also raised to another scene. When Aladdin is threatened by the tiger Rajah on the palace balcony, Aladdin quietly says a line that some people reported hearing as "Good teenagers, take off your clothes," which they considered a subliminal reference to promiscuity. However, according to the commentary track on the 2004 DVD, while Musker and Clements did admit Scott Weinger ad-libbed during the scene, they claimed "we did not record that, we would not record that," and said the line was "Good tiger, take off and go..." and the word "tiger" is overlapped by Rajah's snarl. After the word tiger, a second voice can be heard which has been suggested was accidentally grafted onto the soundtrack. Later editions of the movie edit out the line to avoid further speculation.
so, what we hear and got now is, Aladdin: 'Good tiger.' and nothing else he said.
44:00 don't toy with me.
things are unraveling fast now, boy.
get the point?
i'm just getting warmed up.
aladdin: are you afraid to fight me yourself, you cowardly snake?
jafar: a snake, am i? perhaps you'd like to see how sssnakelike i can be.
Hey look it's the characters from Kingdom hearts.
My great uncle was in a elevator that fell he said he didn't know it had fell just thought the power went out.
Oh! That's shocking (no pun intended).
Whoah! 😳
Fun fact the Aladdin Broadway musical had James Monroe Ingleheart in the original Broadway cast as the Genie. He is the voice of Asmodeus and Vortex in Helluva Boss
44:16
Actually, I think one of the coolest bits of animation in the movie was the shot of the golden ape statue (in the Cave of Wonders) melting, during which it’s smile shifts into a frown.
😁😬😠
Part of what makes that moment so amazing is that it was NOT CG and it wasn’t animated with just contour lines like the characters. Someone had to animate (by hand) a detailed illustration of that statue slowly melting!
✍️
Christ, hearing about Aladdin mixed with Doug's idea of comedy is like hearing Chaplin while Michael Bay is nearby.
Why is it that the best and comedic actors of this movie Aladdin are now dead i mean from Robin Williams to Gilbert Gottfried i mean honestly rewatching it nowadays is kinda depressing to be completely honest with you all. Truth be told, i can’t help but cry every time i get to that part where the Genie tells Aladdin that he’ll always be a prince to him. 🥺😢
28:51 THANK YOU DOUG!!!!!!!!!!!
34:13
Actually, that is (kinda) how real hypnotism actually works. A hypnotic suggestion won’t stick in the recipient’s mind if it doesn’t line up enough with how they would normally think (especially if it requires them to take action).
😵💫
The hypnotist has to either give the recipient a simple command that they can do before they have time to think about it, give them an explanation for the intended response that lines up with how they would naturally think, and/or rehearse the intended response until they get comfortable with it.
I remember my mom taking my brother and I to see Aladdin at the theater when we were kids.
I am not ashamed to admit that if I pumped into Tara Strong one of these days, I would take out my phone and say "Can you please say "I am Princess Twilight Sparkle, Friendship is Magic" in your Twilight Sparkle voice?
That would just be awesome 😎✌️
Weird thing to do right after you've "pumped" into her...
Pumped?
That would be an odd thing to say after pumping her.
I love telling people that this movie is considered controversial. They never believe it until it's explained
Is it in the context of the original story?
15:18 Actually, she was overpowering him because she was absorbing the infinity stones energy. The more energy she absorbs the stronger she gets. And in The Marvels, the bangle used by the villain was draining her powers, making her weaker.
But don't mind me. Just a random geek overexplaining details that don't really affect the story quality in any important way. :P
Also, a person empowered by or using an infinity stone is capable of taking on Thanos, shown by Wanda in Endgame and Vision in What If?, so Captain Marvel could more or less handle a weakened Thanos who had just been hurt by Scarlet Witch.
Robin Williams cracks me up as the genie. It's been 10 years and i still hate that he's gone.
17:10 lyrics changed.
"Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" to "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense"
'Look, you're going to have to put this (Disney plus disclaimer) up before the movie anyway, why not just keep the original badass lyric?'
#1 reason: the lyric can only work in non-disney musical films (like rated-R musical films) and the lyric is too intense for kids to listen to and think about.
#2 reason: to quote AniMat from ElectricDragon505: 'I'm sure for Disney, 10,000 complaints can be such a crick in the neck.' specifically the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.
You really should check out his reviews of 'The Secret of NIMH' and 'The Little Mermaid'. He actually got animator Philo Barnhart to guest star and talk about working on both of these movies!
18:48, I didn’t know about the Thanos video until I watched this video. Made my day.😂
The Marvels makes it clear that the villain can absorb Carol's energy, hence why she doesn't just blast her like the sun, that would just fuel her. Regarding the infinity stones complaint, the MCU has been clear that a person using single stone is capable of handling people using all of the other stones, since the power stone is the only one that can overwhelm others and that has to be specifically used on its own, as shown when Thanos beats Captain Marvel. Its why both Vision and Scarlet Witch are capable of handling Thanos alongside her, which ignores that Thanos was severely injured by the time he fought Captain Marvel. I love you guys, but the power differential has been made clear plenty. Otherwise, great video as always!
when Doug made his comment about "the prisons they send you to" he had a chance for an Abu Ghraib joke and he blew it
Who?

14:18 I was actually planning on making a joke here,
About how the movie wish was basically a Disney movie bought on Wish.
I hope you guys check out the Genie outtakes if you haven’t already
16:35, 31:43 Warner Bros. Cartoons director Chuck Jones called the film "the funniest feature ever made."
"Chuck Jones' verdict is judicious: Aladdin is "the funniest feature ever made." It's a movie for adults - if they can keep up with its careering pace - and, yes, you can take the kids. It juggles a '90s impudence with the old Disney swank and heart."
Two legends lost to us way too soon.
There was also an Aladdin TV series back in the day.
I recommend his review of the original Little Mermaid. I guarantee you’ll learn a lot from it.
38:26 I'm annoyed he didn't go with "Slippin' Genie".

Renegades Reacts, do you like wrestling? horror? Dead Meat? The Dead Meat channel has two Horror Royal Rumbles.
I don't watch this movie as much, but I do play the sega video game version of it.
Have you guys watch the musical Twisted? It's a musical made by Starkid which is a parody of wicked, but instead of Wizard of Ozz, it's Aladin. I swear, it's so good. Please check it out.
I was born a few months after Aladdin premiered
21:57 That’s what I’m wondering
Apparently, they had a hard time coming up with a song for Jafar. There's two different alternate tracks, "Why Me" and "Humilate the Boy." I'm not sure what the issue was, I'm guessing the two other scenes retracted from the pacing, and probably didn't match the tone they wanted
22:16 director cameos again. ron clements on the left and john musker on the right. not the voices, just the visual animated cameos.
7:45 reaction starts
Thanks Caleb.
Fun fact: Aladdin in the book actually take place in China and there’s two Genies (which I guess the Disney got that right when Jafar turned into a Genie) and The Genie doesn’t got Three Wishes, they are Unlimited)
15:12 to 15:30 - She wasn't powerful enough to handle the power of all six infinity stones, at least not for long. Anyone who is durable and resistant enough can hold the stones barehanded, like Thanos or Peter Quill (for a short while) due to him being a Celestial-human hybrid. Captain Marvel could've probably held ALL the stones barehanded, but only for a short while (a few seconds) before having to let go.
In fact in Captain Marvel, she only held the Tesseract and was fine. In fact she didn't even hold the stones or handle the power of all six infinity stones in Endgame, and if she did she probably would've been destroyed had she held them for too long. She held the Gauntlet and not the stones themselves so she was fine, and that's because Thanos wasn't even using the stones against her.
If you wanna ask why Thanos didn't use them before pulling the Power Stone out to punch her, that's because to use the stones through the Gauntlet, you have to close/clench your fist. This is why during the battle on Titan in Infinity War Strange tells his cape "Don't let him close his fist." She held Thanos' fist open so he couldn't use the power of the stones against her. Later she was knocked out by one punch powered from the Power Stone; ONE stone, not 6.
I guess you're not going to hold Peter Parker to this same standard when he held the Gauntlet and survived. This is the same thing that happened with Captain Marvel where she held the Gauntlet (not the stones), and prevented Thanos from using them in he first place by holding his fist open, forcing him to rip a stone out the Gauntlet and knocking Carol out with the power of the Power Stone.
15:31 to 15:38 - Captain Marvel is up against someone with battle experience, as well as the fact that Dar-Benn (the villain in The Marvels) has that hammer which was established (in Guardians 1) to have the power produce concussive blasts, capable of twisting someone's head a full 180 degrees, and as shown in The Marvels it can send beings like Monica and Carol flying. Plus Dar-Benn has the bangle (which themselves are extremely powerful objects) which can absorb Carol's energy attacks and either redirects them or uses Carol's power to grant Dar-Benn some protection against her attacks.
Plus Carol underestimates her own abilities. She literally explains that she didn't think she was strong enough to restart a sun, or even survive the process. She says verbatim "I've never done anything like that before." She thought she wasn't capable of such feat and surviving said feat.
I get that The Marvels (while I personally enjoyed it) wasn't the greatest, but you don't have to make disingenuous points about it and make it seem worse than it is.
YES! That’s what I call a perfect explanation! I sympathize that The Marvels isn’t a bad movie (In fact, I like it a lot better than Captain Marvel)!
I like this maker (44:09 - 44:14) and made me laugh so hard cause I wasn't thinking of that. 😂😂😂😂😂
People can hate me or think I have terrible taste in movies, but I’m just going to say in my opinion that I enjoyed the live action Aladdin movie. I’m gonna argue with others on their opinions about it, I’m just stating my own opinion because I didn’t think it was absolutely terrible like everyone else.
I can agree with that, I like both versions.

3:49 the first one is but the second is 192 minutes. Then again thats with the credits, so if you take that out its close to almost 3 hours technically maybe less. Overall yeah both movies are six hours together.

Why do people hate the Creator?
Idk
The reason why Vivziepop didn't bring back the pilot voice actors is because she was pissed they would hang out with someone who would essentially promote the pilot via inviting the voice actors on streams. For some reason, Vivziepop despised this person and fired all the pilot VAs for that one reason only, though one or two actually had to be let go for other reasons. I feel bad for the VAs because most of them got let go for an extremely petty reason. Vivzie is rich too, so there would really be no issue with bringing in the OG VAs and the Broadway VAs for speaking and singing respectfully. Michael Kovach, the voice of Angel Dust in the pilot even said he assumed he and the others would be coming back for the show, even moving to LA for that very reason.
Yeah, she screwed people out of having a chance to take their careers even farther!
Luca was great
