      Hi Flame, I watched you and Dr. Jordan Cooper some time ago. I think you were still a Calvinist then. I might be wrong. Thanks for this sermon.

      Good message, Flame.
      As a Lutheran I have lots of issues with my own faith tradition. Too many loose ends.
      But there are many good things about Lutheranism that keep me there.
      I've learned over the years that the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.
      Keep up the good work!

    I've been rocking with Flame since '05...when he put out the "extra nos" tape, it rescued me from a particular despair that is a side effect from the "reformed Baptist space" he spoke of. After that, I came across 1517 and am regularly encouraged by all the brothers and sisters that make content with them. I'm so glad Flame and 1517 are colabing!!! Keep bringing the heat when u speak and on them beats brother Flame!!!!

    This resonated with me. It mirrors in some ways my journey from a dispensational Baptist space to a Calvinist to a reformed to a confessional, creedal liturgical space. Not sure where it will land, but this is edifying! Thank you Sir!

    I know this and remind myself as much as possible that even if I don't outward do something sinful, I know my body i live in is sinful, so there's nothing i do that can please god for we are all sinful and need Jesus Christ and thank him that we have been enlightened to him as our Savior

    Around 6:15 My thoughts: Faith is not a work. Yet, it is something we do. We place our trust in Christ.
    Still, salvation is always by grace, extra nos, always God-initiated. God is always extending his grace to us, always reaching out to us.
    However, this is not the Lutheran/Reformed doctrine of unconditional election.
    Yes, Lutheranism teaches unconditional election.
    Eph 2:8-9 is often quoted to "prove" that faith is a gift given by God to individuals in accordance with his sovereign will - an act of unconditional election. Some get it, and some don't.
    But does it really say this?
    The "this" in the phrase "this is not your own doing" does not relate specifically to "faith" or "grace".
    It refers to the whole package, i.e., "This saved by grace through faith gift of God is not your own doing - not the result of works, so that no one may boast."
    The passage is not about faith as a gift, but "salvation" as a gift - that comes to us "by grace through faith".
    So Paul can say in Rom 10:9 - "if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
    Faith, then, is not a work, but still something we do.
    To have faith, to believe, is a volitional act in which the repentant sinner casts him- or herself on the mercy of God asking for forgiveness, which he has promised to do. And God is faithful.

    Bro, he is not saying anything different than what Calvinist preach. Read “Saved by Grace” by Anthony Hoekema. You see he came to the same conclusions. Believing that Jesus body becomes real flesh in blood in your stomach is wrong. Having a proper view of God and his word/law all that stuff is just proper doctrine. Flame is wild for saying we eat Jesus and what not.

    • @ExtraNosAcademy
      @ExtraNosAcademy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thx for taking the time to watch!
      Hmmm…I’m, “not saying anything different than what Calvinist preach?” You just mentioned a difference (albeit inaccurately stated; the Lord’s Supper). Perhaps, you have not been able follow along, slowly.
      Also, you do know that Calvin was MAJORLY influenced by Luther. That’s a good thing. I’m happy we agree in those areas. That should be celebrated and not a negative talking point. I’m not sure why that revelation apparently disappointed you, ha. It’s not a war between us, ha.
      In terms of the bodily presence of Christ in bread and wine, that’s the most agreed upon understanding of the Lord’s Supper. It’s 1500+ years old, and counting, agreed upon by majority of Christians.
      The symbolic view is a new and novel idea. You may think it’s correct but that’s simply because the symbolic view got to you first, as an American.
      If you’re ever genuinely interested, you’ll find it to be the case, according to scripture and Church history.
      Much more can be said.
      God’s peace.

    So. Because you were wrongly applying the Calvinistic doctrine of election when facing your own sin and failures, you determine the doctrine is wrong? Bro, come on. The Doctrine rightly grasped and applied would never lead you to such works based mentality. Actually, it’s the majority of the reformed communities view of Sola Fide and Lordship Salvation that create that. I went through a lot of what you did and came to a lot of the same conclusions you have without leaving my Baptist heritage, rather finding these things taught rightly within it.

    • @ExtraNosAcademy
      @ExtraNosAcademy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for your interest. It’s much more simple. As a systematic theology, Calvinism is not taught in scripture. Respectfully. Enjoy your day.
      God’s peace.
