    I am watching alot of these how to film yourself videos right now and this one really stands out. As a filmmaker you gotta think of all the details, I really love it. I also bought my first camera to record clips of me and my friends back when jackass was popular haha

    This video is stuffed with valuable information. This definitely helps me make better video's, as I mostly learn by example. Seeing a professional at work is so much better than reading books or listening to theoretical explanations. Thanks again for putting in the work.

    This is absolutely amazing! I travel solo a lot and it’s easy to take a picture of myself, not so easy to record myself enjoying my destination. I wished I could have somebody filming me, well now not anymore!

    You have great tutorials. I follow a few people on youtube but you are the one which i really learn the most from. By the way, a tip i can give you as a viewer... it is perfectly fine to make multiple tutorials of the same subject. Lighting tutorial for example. Although you tell your viewers the same principle over and over again, in the additional video, you give them more examples. That is something i and other viewers are always looking for :) Keep it up!

      @@pascalbasel I struggle with ... being creative... like that part where you climbed over the tree taking several different shots of the same action and cutting together was great. I think I struggle with getting those diverse shots and cutting short clips, I leave them drag on too much. I would like to learn more about the camera settings and how you might use the sun etc. Sometimes on a single hike I get footage that is so dark in some clips and so light in others because I’ve faced the wrong way or used the wrong ISO. You obviously pay attention to lighting around you. If I kept watching you make videos like this one I think I would learn a lot, the format is great. Feel free to take a look at some of my B roll and for you it might then become very obvious what’s done wrong and you’ll instantly know what people need to do. I can link you a couple of videos where I have made effort but it’s lacking something. First 5 mins of this I tried to be creative th-cam.com/video/u1u2M-JP8C4/w-d-xo.html (the rest of it is rubbish), and this one has some B roll sections too th-cam.com/video/xBTuiyzXjqQ/w-d-xo.html. My opinion is I just need to learn more about diverse shot angles, focal lengths, zoom etc and one day maybe I can capture a B roll clip like this one you did which the finished product was superb. (Sorry, long reply)

    Very good tutorial on this topic, good job, thanks!
    Filming yourself and creating an interesting story is definitely not easy, I know. It is a very slow process when you try to get good looking clips and edit them together to get the story flow seamlessly. You did not talk too much about audio, but I find e.g. J and L cuts (and sound design in general) helping a lot in transitioning from a clip to another. Perhaps a topic for another video?

    • @pascalbasel
      @pascalbasel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, lots of sound design in here, but that's another topic. It's a bit hard to make a tutorial as I use multiple paid libraries (Lens Distortions, Bryn Norths packs etc.). So it's more like going through the libraries and look what I think fits to the footage and story I have or want to create.

    I use my nikon d7200 for my videos, but it's so heavy to take with me. So if anyone would recommend a light camera or maybe a gopro I would really appreciate it.

      Thanks for telling. For me it works. It could be that geniuslink redirects wrong in certain countries.
