05:54 - For anyone else with active pickups, don't forget what the screw either side of your pickup is for. If you feel like you hear too much of your lower strings and not enough of your high ones, move your pickup away from the lower strings and closer to the higher strings. The closer the pickup is to the string, the higher the energy transfer to the pickups. It doesn't matter what pickup you have, moving it closer or further from the strings will effect the output, and you absolutely can use the vertical angle of your pickup to effect the volume balance from low to high strings.
I may be wrong about this, but I am pretty sure we perceive lower notes in a chord more than higher notes because of the way our primary auditory cortexes are arranged. We are more tuned to frequencies in the upper mid range, but I think that changes when multiple notes are played simultaneously. I took a perception psychology class that covered this, but honestly I may be misremembering it
As an owner of several Schechter's, including a C-1 40th anniversary edition, there are very few other manufacturers with the specs and overall greatness that is Schecter. Especially at their price points compared to others with WORSE specs at double and triple the price! Thanks man! Happy new year brother!
Ive played EMGs exclusively for a long time and always just thought it was normal my high strings just dont ring out loud enough. I never thought it to be a pickup problem. Adam Jones uses JBs and Ive wanted to make the switch but will be making the switch now. As always John you are very Informative.
Would love for Schecter to bring back the 006 body shape on more production models. My first guitar ever was a 006 Deluxe in Vampyre Satin Red 😌 quite a work horse, I miss that guitar
The c-1 schecters are great looking guitars! Some of the best bang for your buck! Especially the hellraisers and platinum series! Wish they still made the c-1 elites in the old 00s style! Thanks John! Always enjoy your playing!
Had a C1 apocalypse at a time when i couldnt appreciate the instrument i had and couldnt play all that well. Sold it and always keep my eye out for them at a reasonable price on reverb.....but rhen you dropped the Tao and now i NEED one kf those instead 😂
@@JohnBrownemonuments ahh gutted. Hopefully it won't be too much of an expensive fix. I'd love to hear you play through an ultra lead. I've been hunting for one for ages.🤘
@@JohnBrownemonuments I learned about DADGAD from you, developed your picking style, always had the Tone Zone as a single pickup in the bridge, and always wanted to ask you about it. Thanks for the reply!
I was a huge fan of the 6 string version of the TZ. In basswood or ash guitars.. like the standard rg ibanez in standard to drop D it was awesome. Anything lower than that, it did fart out quite a bit. Never liked the 7string version (had one in a 1527 prestige and went for a bkp miracle man). The 7th string was a bit too round and bassy and tubby, honestly while the thin strings were screeching. I also liked the air zone in bridge to be honest. Same sound with just lower output. If you're looking for something similar, the bareknuckle warpig alnico sounds almost identical. It has quite the amount of low mids/lows so if your guitar sounds thin or shrill, the TZ or the WP are a great fix.
1400$ - no stainless frets, no ultra-thin neck, no glow in the dark side dots, tune-o-matic which you have to mute cz harp effect, cheap schecter tuners, made in Indonesia with cracked fretboards. No thanks, schecter.
Honestly, stop looking at spec sheets and go and play a guitar. Plus It’s $999 on schecters store (or $849 if you’re a paying member of Modern Metal Academy with a 15% discount off the entire Schecter store)
@@JohnBrownemonuments look at price with link in YOUR description, bro. Your review is good, but schecter really needs to stop "save" specs whenever possible and fix poor quality control, especially on Korean models and Indonesian ebony fretboards.
Why does SD make the ugliest pickup covers? The Blackouts being the peak. Otherwise sick guitar and amazing playing as always Browne. Glad to see all these new videos.
I want to love Schecter so much, but it's well known now that their quality control has gone so low. It's just terrible, especially when you're paying almost $2000(with tax) and up for a lot of their models and I can get a $500 LTD without a single issue. It wasn't anywhere near this bad until after 2020. They need to get their game up.
I had the gain super super low on this one as well to the point of it being ‘dry’ when it isn’t really a dry amp, it’s quite 5150ish when od2 isn’t in tight mode

Man that tone is so raw and pure. I have always preferred passive pickups in the way that you described it
those chords from Makeshift Harmony sound magical

@@finnancahill2644 I thought we were more sensitive to higher notes because baby screaming frequency, I guess I don’t really know either anymore!
Seeing Seymour Duncan active on schecter guitar, feels like early 2000s 😌
The Kiesel blood splatter, and other concept name of the same artistic paint, etc. Regardless, this paint is very cool.
Shout outs the Jarzombek appreciation, dude's an absolute weapon even still

Those C Series Schecters are damn fine.. look good, play great. I am saving atm for the C1 SLS Elite but this one here looks great too

I have a C-1 Platinum with EMGs but, this one is nice...
I have a c-1 Hellraiser from like ~2008 with a real FR on it. EMG 81 / 87
Gigged the crap out of it.
White finishes does not age well though LOL
