Amira Willighagen is living PROOF of the existence, majesty, and glory of God. That such exquisite immaculate music can issue from this young child is something absolutely inexplicable, supernal, miraculous. Only God can account for this talent, especially when this little girl from Holland has never had a singing lesson in her life! She is living testimony to the fact that we, the children of God, are created in the Divine Image. Her soul speaks to us in each song she sings. And we are blessed.
Nice thought - but in fact she was self-taught only up to her initial audition at HGT, at the end of August 2013, so more than four years ago. Since then she has had several singing coaches and a number of Master Classes - most of which can be seen on YT - and she's still in the hands of a singing teacher, one of whose tasks is to advise her on protecting her voice through puberty. As to whether or not she constitutes proof of something, may I suggest that you look up "Russell's Teapot"

O.K., where are we now? Amira has a wonderful voice but she has problems breathing along with the rest of the problems that go along with being young. Time and experience will sort all this out. What I will say is simply this; You are looking and hearing at one of the best voices of the century.
Flawless? Both have very poor diction. You need to listen to Natalie Dessay, native French singer, or Joan Sutherland to get perfection. They're not even in tune with each other.

Dafydd Llewellyn Here is a question that has been bothering me for quite a while. What is in the voices of specific individuals that makes their voices so complimentary to each other. For example, Patrizio is a baritone who sings O Sole Mio with Amira and the voices are extremely complimentary. Why? What is specific to their voices that make them work and blend so well together. It's not just that Amira is a Soprano and Patrizio is a baritone. It is something specific to their individual voices. A better example might be Amira singing with tenors. Amira singing O Sole Mio with Ben was really great, as far as the blending of their voices, Amira's performance of the Gounod Ave Mario with Gissurarson was an incredible performance, but his voice didn't compliment hers nearly as well as Ben's voice did. Then you have Sunnyboy in that medley in rehearsal. Not only did their performance blow me away but they complimented each others voices' perfectly. I loved Sunnyboys lyric tenor which was gorgeous, but the blending of and juxtaposition of their voices could only be described as beyond compare. What is the difference in the tenors' voices? What waveforms, tonal qualities etc. What makes two voices blend perfectly together almost as if they were designed to be complimented by those specific voices. It's not just Sunnyboy and Amira, look at Garanca and Netrebko. They perform the flower duet together, Perfection. Garanca sings it with another highly trained Soprano, meh !!! It's ok but nothing special. It's not that Netrebko is more talented then other Sopranos, it's like her voice was specifically designed to sing with Garancas'. Any piece they perform together is much better the when they perform with any other counterpart no matter how talented. I'm struggling to explain myself here but you understand what I mean.

J'ai alors cliqué dessus et je me suis retrouvé, quelques minutes plus tard avec les larmes aux yeux. Des défauts dans le chant pur, sans doute, mais qui semblent se corriger au fur et à mesure des années, mais le plus important la pureté et l'aura de cette, dorénavent jeune fille qui perdure au fil des ans. Et maintenant, Amira, après le duo des fleurs de Lakmé, aurons-nous le plaisir de vous entendre dans l'air de la reine de nuit de la flûte enchantée de Mozart. What's so beautiful about Amira is that she doesn't oversing and her vibrato is controlled and not excessive. Please please keep it this way, as it's natural and lovely.

I have watched this little angel grow and develop musically and physically since she first appeared on the scene at the age of nine. Nothing will stop her from becoming the greatest soprano the world has ever seen or heard.
one thing can stop her from becoming the greatest soprano - her miscalculating producer that gets her to sing cheesy pop-songs with a touch of classic. Such a waste of her incredible voice. Who can explain to her (she should be old enough to understand) that real opera is where she can truly develop, not silly boring pop love songs that don't require ANY potential for voice?!

This is my all time favorite Flower Duet. I also just heard Amira sing Ave Maria performed on Christmas 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Once again a fantastic paring with Gissur Pall Gissurarson...cannot believe any two could have performed it better! Their voices were PERFECT together.
They are both pretty, they both have beautiful voices and make a wonderful duet. They are magical flowers of different kind that fit perfectly together.
Wow, wow, wow! This is so complicated a duet, with timing of absolute necessity, so many words, such a complicated story line. Amira was indeed the lead in this duet. Superbly done! Is this a 13 year old? Impossible! Unbelievably professional. This is the ultimate test of Amira's ability. It is one thing to sing solo, or even with a choir: but this is with another great singer. Not a flaw in the performance of both of them! This sets the bar so high, who can even come close? Still, Amira retains her humble attitude, like she is just doing her thing, enjoying every note and every performance. Bravo!

However, this performance was in June, 2017 - and Amira went on to record her third album more or less immediately afterwards; and this marks, I believe, a significant stage in her vocal development. She had a natural "Squillo" from very early on, of which I don't think she was aware. At this performance, and more so in her third album, she seems to have become aware of it and learned to control it (presumably by singing with somewhat reduced air pressure) - I think we have to thank Corlea for that. At the same time, evidently her vocal coach told her to "throttle back" - she did not go above C6 until the performance of "Barcelona" in November 2018. And in that period, she sang songs from her third album, rather than operatic pieces. So she has been singing essentially "pop" for the better part of two years, whilst she has been passing through the adolescent voice change period. Recent evidence suggests that she is now past that, but she is taking it quietly for a bit longer - if you can call her performance of a medley from "Sound of Music" at the 2019 Classics concerts "taking it quietly". The DVD of that will start to be distributed from November 10. She has picked-up refinements such as Diminduendo, and matching her vibrato to that of a duettist, in the meantime.

A comparison with Amira would be unfair, but I will have to do it: Jack does not reach Amira's feet, even from a distance. Amira learned to sing alone and over the years, with professional help, she has been improving more and more, giving herself the luxury of singing with professional singers and with absolute tranquility, accompanying them and even at certain times, covering their powerful voices. If we put Evancho doing a duet like that, the poor thing wouldn't even know where to start or end.
We are so lucky,only 4 yrs. from Amira's audition and at 13 performing something like this. Its like being painted into a MASTERPIECE.and we get to watch it as it happens.

Amira's timing is impeccable, she is always pitch perfect, I can't see any mouth or throat induced vibrato it must be from the diaphragm, this is a difficult duet, she is a beautiful genius !!!

Novembre 2017, venu sur youtube pour écouter le Nessun Dorma par luciano Pavarotti, j'ai remarqué la photo d'une petite fille. J'ai alors cliqué dessus et je me suis retrouvé, quelques minutes plus tard avec les larmes aux yeux. Des défauts dans le chant pur, sans doute, mais qui semblent se corriger au fur et à mesure des années, mais le plus important la pureté et l'aura de cette, dorénavent jeune fille qui perdure au fil des ans. Et maintenant, Amira, après le duo des fleurs de Lakmé, aurons-nous le plaisir de vous entendre dans l'air de la reine de nuit de la flûte enchantée de Mozart. Peut être un peu tôt, mais nous l'espérons tous. Merci
What's so beautiful about Amira is that she doesn't oversing and her vibrato is controlled and not excessive. Please please keep it this way, as it's natural and lovely.

one thing can stop her from becoming the greatest soprano - her miscalculating producer that gets her to sing cheesy pop-songs with a touch of classic. Such a waste of her incredible voice. Who can explain to her (she should be old enough to understand) that real opera is where she can truly develop, not silly boring pop love songs that don't require ANY potential for voice?!
@@helenandhercoffee I fully agree. If she chooses to go the CC route for the money, it's her choice and the world has at least potentially lost a super star operatic talent. Not much any one can do about it except hope for the best. Honestly , if she chooses the CC route, AND is happy with it, I won't blame her. It's her life. I'll just always wonder what she could have been.

This is my all time favorite Flower Duet. I also just heard Amira sing Ave Maria performed on Christmas 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Once again a fantastic paring with Gissur Pall Gissurarson...cannot believe any two could have performed it better! Their voices were PERFECT together.
They are both pretty, they both have beautiful voices and make a wonderful duet. They are magical flowers of different kind that fit perfectly together.

Wow, wow, wow! This is so complicated a duet, with timing of absolute necessity, so many words, such a complicated story line. Amira was indeed the lead in this duet. Superbly done! Is this a 13 year old? Impossible! Unbelievably professional. This is the ultimate test of Amira's ability. It is one thing to sing solo, or even with a choir: but this is with another great singer. Not a flaw in the performance of both of them! This sets the bar so high, who can even come close? Still, Amira retains her humble attitude, like she is just doing her thing, enjoying every note and every performance. Bravo!
Amira is coming along nicely. This duet from Lakme is very well done. Hooray for both vocalists. A shout out from Buffalo, in the states.

However, this performance was in June, 2017 - and Amira went on to record her third album more or less immediately afterwards; and this marks, I believe, a significant stage in her vocal development. She had a natural "Squillo" from very early on, of which I don't think she was aware. At this performance, and more so in her third album, she seems to have become aware of it and learned to control it (presumably by singing with somewhat reduced air pressure) - I think we have to thank Corlea for that. At the same time, evidently her vocal coach told her to "throttle back" - she did not go above C6 until the performance of "Barcelona" in November 2018. And in that period, she sang songs from her third album, rather than operatic pieces. So she has been singing essentially "pop" for the better part of two years, whilst she has been passing through the adolescent voice change period. Recent evidence suggests that she is now past that, but she is taking it quietly for a bit longer - if you can call her performance of a medley from "Sound of Music" at the 2019 Classics concerts "taking it quietly". The DVD of that will start to be distributed from November 10. She has picked-up refinements such as Diminduendo, and matching her vibrato to that of a duettist, in the meantime.

A comparison with Amira would be unfair, but I will have to do it: Jack does not reach Amira's feet, even from a distance. Amira learned to sing alone and over the years, with professional help, she has been improving more and more, giving herself the luxury of singing with professional singers and with absolute tranquility, accompanying them and even at certain times, covering their powerful voices. If we put Evancho doing a duet like that, the poor thing wouldn't even know where to start or end.

Amira's timing is impeccable, she is always pitch perfect, I can't see any mouth or throat induced vibrato it must be from the diaphragm, this is a difficult duet, she is a beautiful genius !!!

@@ewaaleksandramazur348 Her voice still needs to mature to be trained as a opera soprano. Opera is s very demanding type of singing together with endurance. That's why pop doesn't take years of training with all the electronic gadgets they use to make a voice sound good. The voice is a musical instrument.
