I have my outdoor spicket/hose turned off fpr the winter. (Drained, pipe off.) I should have washed my plastic pots last year. I will have to wait. I have SO many.
I have learned to live with snails as I find many empty shells aeond my garden. Ihave a few visiting birds that love to eat them. Slugs not so much. They get collected and thrown into the hedgerows, the small ones get eaten by the hedgehog. 😊
Hi Pat, and thanks for getting in touch. It sounds like you have some decent wildlife where you are helping out. I think they are a bit lazy round here. Best wishes, Simon
Hi Weezie. Sorry, my reply doesn't seem to be showing at my end. I will repeat. It might be worth poping out at night to see if you can find the culprits. That way you can pick off any slugs and dispose as you see fit. That or try a beer trap? Kind regards, Simon
Your piece of advise was the best one! I did a couple of tries of weeding - freezing cold 😐. You're absolutely right, they will grow like mad 😰.
Thanks for your supportive comment Liliya. Best wishes, Simon

Do be fair, the last thing you want is a broken water pipe. Best wishes, Simon

I live in the US. Our northern climate is similar to yours. I wish we had hedgehogs. I read we had a type that is extinct.
I think slugs ate my new coral bells. Never saw them, but every day, theh looked worse. They were brand new. 😢

Someone used a flame thrower to melt their snow and caught their house on fire. Definitely have a fire extinguisher outside with you.
Wow, that not only sounds terrible dangerous but is also a terrible idea! Simon
