    I was wondering when features like these would be native to unity. It was so lacking that I was tempted to build it myself. I'm so glad you made this. I only have entry level knowledge in Autodesk modeling programs and depend on my partner a lot for UV unwrapping and standard modeling, but with this tool it's possible for me to bridge my pipeline from modeling to scripting which is what I mostly do in Unity. Seems like a great tool to have for rapid prototyping!

    The outer lines are actually created by using Unity's standard outline shader, nothing special. I then used the "SceneFX" tool from the Asset Store to make that show up in-scene, instead of just in-game :)

    Coming from a background of using the Hammer mapping tool for source games this was exactly what I wanted out of unity and couldn't believe they didn't have. Overall this tool is great but still has some user interface issues which i'm sure will be fixed soon.

    • @gabriel-polysketch
      @gabriel-polysketch 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remscar Thanks! What issues are you seeing with the interface?

    • @Remscar
      @Remscar 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The overall appearance of the ProBuilder window itself sometimes can be troublesome to work with and a bit clunky. I would enjoy a more user friendly and stream lined approach (maybe icons) so it's no longer a list of commands I have to cycle through.

    • @gabriel-polysketch
      @gabriel-polysketch 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remscar We used to have icons, but the problem they created was, people had to learn each icon- a simple word looks a lot less "flashy" (okay, looks flat ugly, ha), but it erases 90% of the learning curve. Want to Subdivide something? Click "Subdivide"! Connect? Click "Connect"! :) No hunting through the manual for icons, momorizing, etc... I agree it isn't as pretty, but it sure is easier to learn and to use.
      Also, the new interface shouldn't require any cycling through, it automatically, dynamically changes to show every single available command, and nothing else. Quite proud of that feature, actually :)

    Looks pretty interesting, how does UVing works though? Do you select each face you want and assign a material/texture? Does it work with substances?

    • @gabriel-polysketch
      @gabriel-polysketch 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi No Name- UVing works in 2 ways:
      1) Auto-UVs : everything is done for you, in simple, tiling manner. Very much like BSP-style mapping in the old days. This works great for basic geometry, that just needs tiling textures. You can also edit scale, offset, rotation, and several other parameters.
      2) Manual UVs : this is new (as of v2.3+), and allows full manual UV unwrapping, similar to what you would find in the "UV Unwrap" modifier of 3DS Max, or the equivalent in Blender/Maya/etc, including an option to render out UV templates for painting in Photoshop/etc, if you need. We are really proud of this addition, it adds as TON of functionality! :)
      As for applying materials, you can assign per object, or per face. Any and all materials will work just fine, including Substance (great option!).
      Hope that helps, thanks for the interest! ~gw

    Hi. I am thinking about buying Pro Builder because it looks amazing! I have a few questions though.
    1. Does it come with ProGrids?
    2. Is there like a 30 day money back system?
    3. If there is no refunds, is there like a demo mode I could try out?

    • @gabriel-polysketch
      @gabriel-polysketch 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Coding Guru Hi there!
      1) ProGrids is separate, so that it can work with all Unity objects
      2) Sorry, it's digital and there have been abuses so we can't do this. However, the entire tools is outlined part-by-part in the documentation (procore3d.com/docs/probuilder), and in video tutorials, so you can learn the entire tool before you buy! :)
      3) Haven't figured out a good "Demo Mode" option yet- tough to do well.
      If you are unsure of any feature/etc, just ask, we'll be happy to help! A great option is also to start a discussion on the Forum at "www.procore3d.com/forum", lots of other users there who can let you know how ProBuilder helps them, etc.
      Best, gw

      It's a speed build - sped up art-related videos are common on youtube, so you can see the workflow and process in action, in a lot less time. And notably, it's a utility meant for building Unity levels quickly, so this seems very appropriate to me. There's a rundown of the features on the Unity Asset Store page. :)

      @Mark's World: I second that. If you're making games for free, good for you, but if your time is valuable, $100 is small change compared to what it allows you to accomplish. If anything, it should cost even more!

    Is this better and faster than Maya for modeling finalized environments? I mean like buildings and window openings and stuff? It looks alot faster than what maya/max can do (unless you setup a billion hotkeys)

    This is just like using Blender inside Unity, you're better off learning a real 3D modeling software for the long run. If you know how to use this you know the basics of any modeling software.

    Step 1: Install SabreCSG instead.
    There is no Step 2. Probuilder is just really clumsy.

    I envision using this for a cave dwelling ........could ProBuilder do it?
