For some people the original Enya Nova U concert lasted three months. There were other issues as well. Great play and sound aren't everything! I think these are over hyped, over-rated. I jumped on the band wagon first time, but I won't this time. I play my Kmise tiger flame concert more than my Enya Nova U concert by far. Why would I do that if it was inferior? If Enya Nova U was such a wonder ukulele I would never be playing the others.
Hey Rich, I was actually planning to buy the Enya Tenor version (trans acoustic one) when it will be available in market. I have Enya concert, Aklot and Kmise. I personally like the sound of Enya over others (personal preference). So I was in an impression that Enya Tenor would sound even better due to larger body. I am a little confused after your review.
@@joeythemoose Not my preferred way of judging value - three cheap amazon laminate wood ukes - that's like saying you could get six or seven $20 ukes and therefore that's 'better' too. Enya Nova U tenor and me never hit it off. I started out loving Enya Nova U concert but then read all the complaints. My white one has changed color and I expect most of these ukes have issues in a few years, if not much sooner. I simply did not like the tenor and so I've sworn off carbon fiber ukuleles altogether. I think you are missing the point. Does it sound as good as all wood ? Of course not. But it doesn't sound bad by any means and it does sound better than some wooden ukes I have heard. It is also impervious to temperature, humidity and moisture. I can throw it in my car and leave it there and take it literally anywhere and have a pretty good sounding instrument to play and enjoy. I cannot say that for any of my wood ukes. For me it is well worth the slightly over $100 price tag.
The point for me is I don't like this ukulele. If it works for you, I hope you love it and enjoy it forever. It's okay if we have our own opinions. Very best wishes to you and happy holidays. Rich
You are comparing apples and oranges in this review. Try leaving any of those three wood ukes in a trunk in San Antonio during the Summer. while getting burger. Also, the last review that I saw of yours you compared the Enya Nova (sans electronics) with the Lava U (with effects, pickup and preamp), without playing the Lava. Only looking at prices on Amazon. Again, apples vs oranges. I have the Enya Soprano and it's nice little instrument that you can forget to bring in from the patio. I also am waiting for the Lava U to arrive. Please stop reviewing ukes solely based on price. It misleads people to oversimplify their requirements for purchasing a uke that fits their needs.
Thanks, Alan. I've already taken a lot of grief over this video so I don't mind your comment at all. I don't like the Nova U tenor and that's the bottom line for me. @@richdavis4007 Thanks for the response, Rich. I really try not to post negative comments but I felt it was appropriate in this case. I also have a bit of a gripe with the my Enya (Mini/Soprano). The fact that you can't see the frets very well. It also doesn't play as easily as other reviews have led me to believe. It's fine, but just not the easiest for a beginner. I'm still looking for something that doesn't require as much left hand strength. I have arthritis in my left thumb and pressing hard on strings is sometimes painful. Your subjective opinion on whether the Enya is as likeable as the others is completely useless to anybody trying to make a decision about buying a ukulele. Well, there's 8 minutes I'll never get back. Now, I'm off to write a review of tacos in Mexico City. I've never actually been there, but based on this video that shouldn't stop me from telling anyone what I think of it.
Glad to meet you, Paul. You should have stopped earlier in the video and saved a few minutes. Your fault, not mine. I hope you enjoy your Enya tenor. I sold the one Enya gave me a long time ago. Rich Davis
@@richdavis4007 so, not good enough to play but good enough to make money off of when you got it for free, eh? Speaks volumes…
@@PaulNaas You speak volumes and say nothing. Ho ho, Paul, let's be friends. I can erase you from my channel with one click but you may find, if you look at more videos than just this one, that I'm okay. Best wishes. Rich
your reviews always real.
@@GotAUkulele I have owned three Nova U concert ukuleles and two Nova U minis. I have one concert and one mini remailing. That's enough Enya for me. Why, sir, are you so bothered about my opinion? What do you have at stake here?
@@richdavis4007 none at all - just don’t understand how anyone can be so strongly against an instrument without playing one. It’s quite a bit changed from the concert and soprano
@@GotAUkulele I'm not against Enya Nova U tenor. I'm for the ukuleles I prefer after having purchased and played five Enya Nova U concerts and minis. I can't play an Enya Nova U Pro for over a month so I thought I'd give my opinion beforehand, having some experience with Enya Nova Us. I'm used to speaking my opinions on my channel and my friends and others know what I'm about by now. I seek exciting bargain ukuleles. There are people out there who do not want or can't afford expensive ukuleles. I have found that Aiersi ukuleles, for example, are built very well, are set up nicely and sound just fine. Why can't people have their Aiersi, Kmise, Aklot, Caramel ukuleles and love them? Best wishes to you.
@@richdavis4007 sincere apologies Rich- and wasn’t quibbling you liking other things. I just see a lot of questionable reviews on places like Amazon where people either claim things are good or bad but likely haven’t touched them. I reacted and shouldn’t have. I do honestly think the Pro is quite a different beast to the earlier Novas though -quite significantly so. Maybe you’ll get to try one way or the other down the line. Take care and sorry again
I like how Enya's competition approved of your review.
Why judge an instrument on its color before hearing what it sounds like and how it performs. Not very helpful what you recorded.
This is probably my most disliked video of thousands I've made. It suits because Enya Nova U tenor proved to be one of the very few ukuleles I did not like at all. I really, really did not like the uke when it came and was glad when it left. If you have one, I hope you like it.
Agree. The Enya has its place, but the wood ukuleles are so beautiful and sound so rich. Enya certainly knows how to run a PR campaign- everybody with any sort of uke review site has been provided one. I wonder why they haven’t sent you one Rich? Haha
I run a review site - more Enya's that have appeared I bought myself - what are you suggesting?
PR. Yes. BS? Ho ho. RD
@@GotAUkulele love your site, and I certainly don’t mean to cast aspersions on any reviewers, especially you. I am just genuinely impressed with Enya marketing- they know how to build excitement about a new product. Thanks for all your wonderful reviews.
@@lturner744 Put simply - It's a damn good ukulele for the price - astonishing in fact - and I say that having reviewed several hundred ukes over 10 years. Also, far better value than the concert version in my opinion. Fuller sound too. Not sure why Rich is being so confident in the opposite view considering he's never actually played one
I couldn’t get one either lol. It would have been a good review, but I don’t have a cult like following like others do. And yes.. If you have a review up with this instrument you were given one free, and yes I’m suggesting it’s biased based on that … sue me 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Omg 7 minutes with the same message. Without arguments accept the looks. Tell about the sound difference, the feel, etc.
The problem is in the height of the frets.
I'm just not with you on this one. I love that you love your Caramels, but I don't have any need for 3 ultra-cheap ukes. I like quality over quantity.
Lots of people do. I find I prefer inexpensive ukuleles with beauty and or character. I like oddball one of a kind ukes. I like ukuleles that sound great and play great. I like having variety in ukuleles. I believe everyone should be able to afford a ukulele and feel that the inexpensive one he or she has is quite good enough to make great sounding music. Thanks, Faethe. Rich
Had I known the tenor was coming I wouldn’t have grabbed the concert lol. I tried getting a free one from Enya for review, unfortunately they weren’t having it. I’m not in the market for any new ukuleles, so I’ll just wait for a tenor pro to go on sale one day.
I also don’t like that any questions regarding a tenor version of the Enya Nova U have always been answered by Enya with “no plans for a tenor size”, well that was clearly a lie 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Business will be business!
The single most awful, unprofessional ukulele review I have ever watched. He has no idea how to compare ukulele.
I shared my thoughts and experience with the Enya Nova U Pro Tenor. I did not like the ukulele and said so. I made enemies of people who purchased it. I stand by my video and review. I've purchased hundreds of ukuleles but never did I find one I liked worse than this one. Go in peace, friend. I'm entitled to my opinion the same as you are. Rich Davis
To assert that nobody would choose the Enya over the other three with absolutely nothing to support except your opinion is completely irresponsible. Your subjective opinion on whether the Enya is as likeable as the others is completely useless to anybody trying to make a decision about buying a ukulele. All you've done with this video is demonstrate the problem that is so common today; that anybody with a camera can present themselves as an "expert", regardless of the fact that they know absolutely nothing.
@@frankbordonaro9408 Please get a camera and make a video yourself. I'd like to see you in action.
@@richdavis4007 Thats what Im trying to get across to you. You wont see me in action because Im not a reviewer. Everyone has their own capabilities. Ill leave reviewing ukuleles to people who know what theyre doing. And thats what you should do too.
