      wonderful and you are welcome.... as for being off center, that can come down to how you fold your tee in half, here is how I center a tee shirt so I get the middle of the tee : th-cam.com/video/ayXftSPBITo/w-d-xo.html

    I didn’t see this until now, this looks so much easier then what I did. I took a heart stencil and made half a shamrock on just one half fold. I very torturously cinched that shape 🤣 it worked but this is so much more efficient

    Is there a way to do this without the protractor? I have a shamrock stencil and a ruler but no protractor 😅

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can... I just use the protractor to get the angles... but if you have the stencil, I say just go for it ✌️

    How do you keep your colors do vibrant? Mine seem to fade. I pre soak my shirts in just plain water. Should I pre soak them in soda ash? I've also heard to rinse and soak in white vinegar, or salt. Any tips or tricks to keep from fading. Thank you!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes if you are using Fiber Reactive Dyes, you need t use soda ash at some point, most times it is with a presoak ....... if you are using a different kind of dye, then that could be part of the problem, I use and recommend Procion dyes ..... I have a video on how I mix my dyes with the base amounts written down, but I use a bit more ..... th-cam.com/video/3Fj289T6BVg/w-d-xo.html
      After dyeing, I batch my tees in a tub with a lid so they stay damp ad I leave them sit for a minimum of 24 hours, but I prefer to leave mine for 48 hours so the dyes have more time to set up, and then temp need to be at lest 70 F ....... I stack my tubs next to a heater vent so they get much warmer
      As for vinegar.... it will lower your pH levels, so I do not suggest that you use it before or during the dyeing process... these dyes need the pH to be at least 10.6-11.00 and that is what the soda ash does .... I have heard of people using during the rinse and that is fine as you do want to lower the pH at this point.... I hope this helps you

    What type of bottle did you put your thickened black in? My precision bottles get clogged.

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the gutta bottle from dharma with a sz 7 tip .... but one thing I make sure of when mixing the thick water is that is is smooth with no lumps, these are what do some of the clogging .... but here is a link to the bottles : www.dharmatrading.com/tools/gutta-applicator-bottles-with-metal-tips.html

    Is soaking it in soda ash important?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  ปีที่แล้ว

      Using soda ash with Procion Dyes is important ... the high pH you get from the Soda Ash is what activate the dyes and causes them to bond with the cotton fibers .... But, you have options with the soda ash ...
      I start with a pre wash on the tees just to get any treatments on the tees washed out as it could interfere with he dye bonding ....
      Then you can soak for 20 minutes, then tie and dye
      or you can tie up the tee from the pre wash, and then soak it in soda ash, then dye it
      OR, you can tie and dye the tee from the pre-wash and then add soda sh to the top and bottom after you are done dyeing, then batch it
      Here is a video where I show each method : th-cam.com/video/rkmAQxOu52A/w-d-xo.html

    Is there a way to do a design in the middle, and a spiral tie dye on the rest of the shirt?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes there is, if doing the clover I recommend making it smaller and then this technique will work for the spiral around it, or whatever else you can fold up, in this video I did a football, but I have also tied a heart and the Mickey head and spiraled around it ...... th-cam.com/video/fFFEFM10Cb4/w-d-xo.html

    When I tie it up my accordion bunches up and gets screwed up any hints??

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe make the pleats just a bit taller.... if the pleats are too short they will buckle.
      also, what are you using to tie with?? rubber bands can be too tight which will also cause buckling

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize, yes I know it is difficult to see the transition... but I just try to line up the stem folds along side the rest of the leaf fold so I can dye them all together .... I do have plans to make some more videos where I detail things like folding around a tight corner like this, but I will draw much larger lines and do larger fold so it can be seen so stay tuned 😉✌🏻
