Pancake Tip: cut up the pancakes all the way BEFORE you add syrup & butter, then you can push the pancake pieces into a little circular wall, pour the syrup in the middle & then the syrup will slowly seep into the innermost pancakes first & not slide off your plate or cutting board. Love watching your easygoing style!

I purchased a curtain with a clear top, so I could keep watch around me and a small grate to stand on so my bare feet stayed out of dirt. Plus, when in a really quiet and private place, I was able to strip and wash. The grate allowed my feet to stay clean while washing.
You always pick the prettiest spots to camp. I told my husband: We need to go to the Oregon coast, because Rowan took us through the Hobbit trail.😊 I admire your survival skills and seemingly innate ability to create a happy cozy wherever you go. You are a cool person!
That shower curtain is a great idea. My husband and I have a van that we use to when we travel and I will probably add a couple of shower curtains to my supplies list.

Maybe a suggestion... if youre going to have your tailgate open for long periods of time, you might consider a "pole" to support the weight of the tailgate to save on the gas shocks the hold the door up. It will extend the life of the door air shocks.

Adding an additional curtain would be perfect. It could also double as extra real estate. Here's what I mean. Have the opening of the two curtains in the center of the hatchback. Use loose tie backs to pull them back. Now you have incredible views out the back and you can rock with privacy until your hearts content or lay and watch the Sunrise and Sunset in the newly formed "Bay Window". Next idea. Have the opening off the back corner for changing or showering. Hang a Solar Shower off the hatchback. Now taking a shower you can feel a bit more comfortable. I'm completely loving your journey. I love your genuineness. Just for future reference, rather than cutting those slits in the hem, if you could have cut a tiny bit of the thread of that hem, you could then unravel a little of it & slip a magnet inside. Then, a minor stitch or 2 would close up that opening.

Like you, I also take supplements , including calcium. I love watching your videos. I have done many solo trips, inside, and outside the country, and NOBODY that has done this before understands or relates to me, especially women. Yes I’ve read that in the U.S. we wash eggs before selling which ruins the natural layer of protection eggs have. In Europe they don’t so they always leave their eggs out.
Great idea for a privacy curtain! Id definitely get a second one with more magnets too. Something we are getting is prob two 5 gallon buckets with lids, cut a pool noodle for a cushion seat on each and plastic bags to go in them for going to the bathroom when we cant use our regular toilet. We have to pay $200 to get water hauled into our inground 1200 gallon tank that feeds the cabin with water. This lasts about 5 to 6 weeks. And we have three 275 gallon tanks for backups. I know you can also buy collapsible water jugs that are several gallons for extra water to keep on hand in your car.
Dear Dragon: Yes, I’ve seen other car campers use those collapsible kind of water jugs or carriers. Once empty they fold and take up little until space to store until you refill them. Great idea.

There are SUPER STRONG rectancular magnets from Harbor Freight and I'm certain they would have similar at Home Depot. even stronger than two of the big round ones. That actually connect and I found the metal strips on the corners of my walls in my senior apt where I hang the letters needing to go to the mailbox. LOL Grea video and yes a second shower curtain would be amazing extending your living space and event help if you put pennies in the bottom (I did that in a shower curtain to keep it from blowing with the steam of hot water.) so you're curtain won't blow up in the wind. You're ver creative, homemaking in van home and resourceful.

My wife and I started camping with our families when we were about 5 years old. In 1979 we started dating and we learned something BIG that November in the cold of Canada. We were at my parents old school bus on the lake and I noticed that my parents had put up a 12 x 12 canvas kitchen tent on a deck overlooking the lake. Angela and I found a pick nick table inside with a 2 burner propane stove and 2 pond tank attached. We got a BIG pot and heated the water for a hot bath and as it heated the air went from freezing to a perfect 80 degrees F. We had 2 5 gallon home depo pails and 1/2 filled with cold lake water. It was the nicest bag in my life as we poured hot water over us. This Canvas 12 x 12 would make a place for a small titanium wood stove, a place to sit and read and cook food or avoid the bugs. TRY IT !!
maybe buy the second shower curtain now while you can get one that matches. You may need to sometimes put magnets on the side on the car to hold it down when its more windy. get extra magnets too.
What a great idea! I also think you should get another curtain. Then you can have an enclosed "porch", too, and can set it up and tie the curtains back to watch the rain.
Rowan, I just wanted to let you know. Contrary to popular United States of America beliefs as long as you have farm fresh eggs that have not been washed, they will keep unrefrigerated for months.! People over in England never refrigerate their eggs they just leave them on the countertop. You can't do that with ones from the grocery store because they washed the protective coating off. If you do run across a really good deal at the grocery store that protective coating can be replaced with castor oil.. as long as there kept a dark place, they will keep!

Doubling up on the magnets is what I was thinking to. I thought that you were going to put the magnets on the hatch/door, put the fabric shower curtain on and put another magnet on top of the pre-existing magnets. The way you did it works to. Coolness! 👍🤟

Hi Rowan. You mentioned farm fresh eggs. Do you know as long as the eggs aren’t washed you don’t have to refrigerate them? Washing removes the “bloom” from them then they need to be kept cool. So if you buy them in the store, definitely refrigerate them. I’m enjoying your videos and admire your grit!!

Hi Rowan. You mentioned farm fresh eggs. Do you know as long as the eggs aren’t washed you don’t have to refrigerate them? Washing removes the “bloom” from them then they need to be kept cool. So if you buy them in the store, definitely refrigerate them. I’m enjoying your videos and admire your grit!!
How about using Velcro on the curtain and some glued to your hatch door?

The curtain seems like such a good idea, and maybe it can also work for just giving you some privacy, if you're in more busy areas, and you want the airflow, but not curious eyes. It has a 'tent feel' to it 😊
