For the past the past 2 years Sparklehorse has been my favorite band. I didn't find out Mark died till later, but it makes me sad that many people don't know of him. As a teenager I will do my part of spreading his voice to a generation who couldn't get to know him. ❤
@@JohnDoe-we8cm yeah I know! I haven't met anyone at any age who's even heard of them. I feel really bad because they missing out :( I've showed a lot of my friends them and they all strongly disliked the style which was dissappointing. Ain't gonna work buddy. I've been advocating Linkous for a decade now and I'm 33... very few understand. Most don't have ears. Be thankful you do. If they need it Sparklehorse will find them the same it did you and I. ✌ buddy
@@beemelonhead1 Since posting this a year ago I have introduced a few people to his works and they absolutely adore Sparklehorse. Then we found a group of people who like similar music and we all go to local concerts together. It really is amazing since everyone I introduced to Linkous before him couldn't vibe with it now to have a small community of sparklehorse lovers.
@@sizzleyfries3421 Hardly anyone in their 40's have heard of Mark by any name either. It's a tragedy! He worked with so many people who are significantly better known too: PJ Harvey and Tom Waits for example :P
I wish Mark could see how much he was loved. I would do anything for Mark to be back with us. This man was clearly sad, but he was and still is an inspiration to many people. Mark's beautiful poetry and slow riffs will live on, at least to me, because he is more than every other music "artist". Mark had deep meaningful words and he needed to be heard. We miss you, Mark.. RIP.
This is so true sparklehorse to me is the optimistic feeling for change after a heavy depressive episode, listening to marks music is like being on an old rickety ship that's slowly sinking into the ocean but in the distance you see an island.
I remember when I first heard super excited and I looked him up and found him a week after he died. It was super disappointing but it made his songs that much more meaningful to me.
We still can't believe his gone...Mark you were one of our greatest inspirations in our lives & the worst part is that we didn't even get to tell you in person.
Doesn't pay to watch this with a few beers on board, love this guy, sat here with tears in my eyes , still can't believe he's no longer with us , discovered Sparklehorse about 5 yrs ago, gonna miss this originality and passion.
Saw them in a church in North london .Very special band .Lucky enough to talk to mark after the show .Really down to earth man .After the show was lucky enough to be sitting nest to him as he came out to sit in the crowd. We told him the band was really good but he asked me [i was the old guy in the group] why i i was there and liked the music .in retrospect it was great tell him why i was there with my wife daughter and her friend..I said i had been a long time admira of Neil Young He said ok
Love this guy, this band, meant so much to me over the years. Saw them in UK first time around and again just before he died. Bizarrely I love Grandaddy too and the same thing happened there. Saw their first tour and their last tour just before Kevin passed.
i literally JUST started getting into sparklehorse about 2 months ago and now Mark is gone =( so fucking sad =( rest in piece mark linkous, you need it
This song was with me in the trenches, when I was at my absolute worst mental state. Glad to be here listening to it when I feel a little better :')
Hope you’re doing well now too. ❤
Sat in many a stinky toilet cubicle of a work day listening to this myself ,while hiding from the everything .
Life definitely is a cycle.
This band/man touches everyone who is prepared to listen properly. ❤

One of the most amazing and important songs in the history of rock and fucking roll ladies and gentlemen.
Truth.
Sad part is, I don't know if he really knew how good he was.
10 years later and you are still and always will be the greatest gift to the universe. Rest easy Mark

Mark Linkous was a beautiful soul and a brilliant artist. Gone far too soon,
Its eerie how perfect this is..
It’s been so long and his work stands the test of time. Rest In Peace poet, I hope your pain is long gone
one of the most profound songs ever written with such little innovation in it. A beautiful composition. RIP.
Just found Sparklehorse recently, can't believe how much this speaks to me. It is amazingly beautiful.
Somehow this album always finds me when I’m at my lowest and always manages to make me feel a little better

Mark, you beautiful soul.

That Dude With a Mad Plan The same here with me but I could know one of the best bands ever.
I shook his massive and gentle hand after a concert once after a concert in Manchester and it was beautiful
Mark i hope you return here one day : )
rest in peace mark.

Wonderful song - the backing singer did a great job of filling a PJ Harvey shaped space too
I've literally played this song about 10 times in a row now...consecutively... & I've heard this song many times before...just doesn't get old
He's the fusion between Elliot Smith and David Foster Wallace. He's him. Learn it at guitare. Love it.
This guy deserve much much love I remember listening to this back then (:
Music w sooo much depth
He's one of those few artists I'd have loved to meet.
RIP Mark
one of my favorites of all time
So beautiful. Mourn the fact we can’t have anymore Sparklehorse music.

it's consoling to read things by other folks who felt so close to mark linkous' music and so affected by his passing.. thank you.
I'm in love with both this song and the bass player. Neither can be helped.
This cuts to the core of my being.
I've watched this video at various times throughout the years and it only gets better each time.
Difficult to listen to it now.... But just beautiful.
An artist in every way... Thank you for your beautiful gift
I like that adorable thing he does with his mouth ^.^ He was such a GREAT song writer. It blows my mind!
Indeed. It's a shame he already left us....
I'm so grateful I discovered Sparklehorse, Mark was probably the Van Gogh of our generation, RIP Mark
Achingly beautiful...such songs are born from being broken...hopefully he has returned to where he can find his own peace...
This is one of the first songs I learned to play and sing on the guitar . I would say that was about 11 years ago

The best song about being on smack and thinking or hoping you overdose.
so deep so beutifull
Esta rola me hace llorar siempre :C

@Boletes1 its a microphone off of an old 4 track reel to reel recorder
When u wanna get done, done on the ground
sparklehorse
rest in peace mark
@SloppySkateboarder Getting close to it too mate. Saw him twice live… When the best chooses to go away, there's not much left for the rest of us…
"very pat, very pat on head, good boy"
I wonder if Mark ever met Kurt Cobain i bet they would've been friends, oh well they're together now
what is that alternative mic he sings into?
+lokotron1 Just one set up slightly differently, isn't it? For the bits that sound a bit like a megaphone.
i believe its a easily saturated mic
Probably a bullet harmonica mic
if I'm not mistaken it's a microphone he found in a landfill or dumpster.
