It's fairly evident how in the modern era, even that during the v10 and v8, how clear technology has played a role in team domination. Aside from 2 years Renault and 1 year Brawn, you had consecutive strings of 5 Ferrari, 4 RedBull, and 6+ Mercedes.
This only made Formula 1 a money game and no longer a game of talent, strategy and intelligence. I hope things change next year, as there will be a budget ceiling.

Well, they where successful during a time where it was more important to find innovative ways to make the car faster. Nowadays it's (thanks to a regulatory that forbids practically any innovation) only about who finds the most creative ways to push as much money as possible into changing plates of a few mm^2 just enough to gain advantage while still being inside the reglement. Ok, given, Lotus were so fast for the most time because they were notorious deathtraps ( approximate quote by Lotus-Owner Chapman: Every inch a car can drive beyond the finish line is unnecessary weight"), but nowadays it's simply not possible to win anything without a multi-billion Dollar company backing you.
The official record books show the later ones were won by the John Player Special JPS cars. Chapman hated this , even though this was due to his sell out. Reflects on the character of Chapman. Even Rindt had lots to say about Chapman.

I never knew Fangio won 4 titles in a row. I love the video of him driving around the airfield circle. Denny Hulme was a very quiet guy around crowds, when he started racing touring cars in Australia in the late 80’s , no commentators knew how successful he was. A great & very aggressive driver. Not one of those guys did not deserve to win a championship. Some had great cars but everyone was a brilliant driver.
he almost won 1950. He finished 3 rces of 6 races. The 3 races that he could finish were in 1st place. So in 1950 he has 100% of victories. Finished that year in 2nd place, who knows what could happend if he finished 2 races more, maybe another championship
I was surprised many years ago reading what Moss said about him at the Nurburgring in the Mercedes. Something to the effect that Fangio would slow down before the start finish, and then take off on different parts of the track . Even when I was a teenager I was surprised Moss wrote that. He hardly had a small ego. I would have loved to have seen Fangio at his peak. You are right though, 53 years old from memory yet he was clearly so far better than anybody at that time.
NELSON PIQUET, mechanic/driver, used to set an incredible setup for his cars, he developed many new devices for Formula one and even in another's categories, as in F3!
M. Schumacher was the guy we adored. Loved the races, his attitude, sensuality of driving.... I'll never forget that race where A. Senna lost his life... I loved to hear my dad speaking about Niki Lauda....F1 was something that truly marked my childhood and adolescence... Racing is something you must love! ❤️

It's difficult to compare yet I would say the best of all time would probably be a driver from the old days, where everything was less developed and more dangerous to the point a crash could kill you, meaning the people who won a lot back then musn't have crashed much, but then my historic viewing is limited. If I had to chose one it would probably be Lauda. To win the title a season after his horrific crash is amazing. Many racing drivers have never been the same after such accidents.
I think that modern era drivers would beat many of the pre-2000 drivers because of how highly developed the sport has become. I am not saying that they are more talented but all the preparation, especially the work in the simulator, makes drivers a lot better and helps them to have more control of what they are doing, they have all the knowledge of how to handle the car in different situations while back in the days, this wasnt simply a thing in the way it is today...so speaking of talent, every era has got its heroes, but if you compare the completeness of todays drivers with those in the old days, the young guys would probably win due to advanced technologies
I doubt senna would have won the championship in 1994 with the dominance of MSC with Benetton that year. But I’ll tell you one thing, if senna lived, Schumi wouldn’t have had 7 world titles.

Senna wins the title that year, and wouldve won the 96,97 titles instead of Hill and Villeuneuve. Thats the saddest part of his death, he still had many more titles to win considering how dominant Williams was in the 90s
The old days bring back not only good memories but also reassure us of how harder it used to be to become a World Champion. The cars were real wild beasts and the rivalries were multiple. Nowadays, only one or two teams are strong enough to make big investments and as a result we've seen the boring "team A or B dominance era" lasting whole decades.

Well, they where successful during a time where it was more important to find innovative ways to make the car faster. Nowadays it's (thanks to a regulatory that forbids practically any innovation) only about who finds the most creative ways to push as much money as possible into changing plates of a few mm^2 just enough to gain advantage while still being inside the reglement.
Ok, given, Lotus were so fast for the most time because they were notorious deathtraps ( approximate quote by Lotus-Owner Chapman: Every inch a car can drive beyond the finish line is unnecessary weight"), but nowadays it's simply not possible to win anything without a multi-billion Dollar company backing you.
The official record books show the later ones were won by the John Player Special JPS cars. Chapman hated this , even though this was due to his sell out. Reflects on the character of Chapman. Even Rindt had lots to say about Chapman.

I never knew Fangio won 4 titles in a row. I love the video of him driving around the airfield circle. Denny Hulme was a very quiet guy around crowds, when he started racing touring cars in Australia in the late 80’s , no commentators knew how successful he was. A great & very aggressive driver. Not one of those guys did not deserve to win a championship. Some had great cars but everyone was a brilliant driver.
he almost won 1950. He finished 3 rces of 6 races. The 3 races that he could finish were in 1st place. So in 1950 he has 100% of victories. Finished that year in 2nd place, who knows what could happend if he finished 2 races more, maybe another championship

I was surprised many years ago reading what Moss said about him at the Nurburgring in the Mercedes. Something to the effect that Fangio would slow down before the start finish, and then take off on different parts of the track . Even when I was a teenager I was surprised Moss wrote that. He hardly had a small ego. I would have loved to have seen Fangio at his peak. You are right though, 53 years old from memory yet he was clearly so far better than anybody at that time.

Most of the champions are from South America and Europe. In some ways it looks similar to the champions of the World Cup.
Same with tennis. But go look up badminton, a sport that has been dominated by Asian countries (+ Denmark)

Ayrton senna quase nunca desistia de uma corrida enquanto outros pilotos arregavam por causa de chuva, vencia mais corridas em menos tempo, e graças a ele novos sistemas de segurança na formula 1 existem. Ele fez história, foi um patriota brasileiro, comemorava segurando a bandeira do Brasil, já foi aceito como melhor da formula 1 até mesmo por grandiosos pilotos atuais, e já foi homenageado pelo Hamilton, que hoje é um dos maiores, se não o maior piloto da atualidade, que segurou a bandeira do Brasil durante uma corrida, além de admitir que a inspiração dele é o ayrton senna..

It's difficult to compare yet I would say the best of all time would probably be a driver from the old days, where everything was less developed and more dangerous to the point a crash could kill you, meaning the people who won a lot back then musn't have crashed much, but then my historic viewing is limited.
If I had to chose one it would probably be Lauda. To win the title a season after his horrific crash is amazing. Many racing drivers have never been the same after such accidents.
I think that modern era drivers would beat many of the pre-2000 drivers because of how highly developed the sport has become. I am not saying that they are more talented but all the preparation, especially the work in the simulator, makes drivers a lot better and helps them to have more control of what they are doing, they have all the knowledge of how to handle the car in different situations while back in the days, this wasnt simply a thing in the way it is today...so speaking of talent, every era has got its heroes, but if you compare the completeness of todays drivers with those in the old days, the young guys would probably win due to advanced technologies

The championship went down to the wire with Hill, what are you talking about? The 95 Benetton was dominant, not the 94 one. Williams arguably had the better car in 94. Senna wins the title that year, and wouldve won the 96,97 titles instead of Hill and Villeuneuve. Thats the saddest part of his death, he still had many more titles to win considering how dominant Williams was in the 90s
And who knows, if Senna never dies then maybe Adrian Newey never leaves Williams. And they continue to dominate post-97

The old days bring back not only good memories but also reassure us of how harder it used to be to become a World Champion. The cars were real wild beasts and the rivalries were multiple. Nowadays, only one or two teams are strong enough to make big investments and as a result we've seen the boring "team A or B dominance era" lasting whole decades.
