    I moved to ST Petersburg in 08 and the bay area is diverse and I consider it south of the south. Gentrification is a very real thing and I've painted houses businesses for a decade and I hate to think about getting priced out of here like other places that prefer craft beer over dive bars.

      Man. I’m planning to move to St. Pete with my family for my wife’s work with the VA. I hate woke ideology and I don’t want them teaching my kids that crap in the schools. Guess I’ll have to look for private schools.

    I don't live in Saint Pete (but i'd like to), and in your "Negatives" list you forgot to mention the seasonal "love bugs", the hot humid Summers and in some years, the possibility of a hurricane visiting the area. (These three are mentioned in other Pros and Cons lists i've watched before.)

    How is being a more liberal “blue” town a pro 😂 ppl are flocking to red states like Florida to get away from exactly that

      I live in Tampa and I was thinking the same thing.
      Tampa is a mix but mostly on the conservative side.
      St Petersburg is definitely liberal with more liberal city government.
      I have no idea why somebody would complain about blue politics in Chicago or any blue state and then move to St Pete.

    Would you say there’s a large concentration of midwesterners in Tampa or is it just northeasterners

      @vtc2838 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s funny you say that because I always thought that the gulf side of the state attracted more Midwest people down I 75 guess that might be more the Cape Coral Fort Myers area

    • @kennixox262
      @kennixox262 ปีที่แล้ว

      Midwesterners, as I-75 funnels them down from that part of the country. I-95 funnels those from the Northeast part of the country to Florida's east coast.

    I'm a native of St. Petersburg but left many many years ago. Was raised in Allendale and would suggest that due to it being the most desirable non waterfront neighborhood. At 40+ feet in elevation, no flood insurance necessary and while the prices for the homes are high, they are older and am surprised to not see many houses being torn down and replaced. Stick with the brick streets on either side of 12th St, near the Methodist Church. Some lots are block-thru, at least the house I grew up in. Big lots and lots of opportunity to do a major remodel or frankly, scrape the lot, keeping the best mature trees, and rebuild from scratch. As for as "Woke", that is an astroturfed-manufactured "outrage" in order to get people riled up and vote rabid red GOP. Glad that I live in the western part of the country now. Would never return to Florida as it is the new "Mississippi".

    • @Marva123
      @Marva123 ปีที่แล้ว

      I currently live in Mississippi now, I am moving to Florida in the near future. Not originally from Mississippi. I can assure you Florida is nothing like Mississippi. I'm not exactly sure where you are going with the comparison, but I think its probably along the lines of being backward in thinking. Either way the comparison is a false one.

    As someone trying to escape woke mind virus in Chicago, I think this just talked me out of St. Petersburg haha. I don't want to move to another city that's going to take the same road to ruin.

    My biggest concern is the ‘wokeness’ part. I am considering moving to St. Petersburg from the greater Northeast, NYC, NJ, Connecticut area. Most folks here are WOKE AS HELL, politically, socially and values
    😳
    So how Woke is St. Pete, worse those areas mentioned? Let me put it another way, I’m trying to get away from Wokeness and Virtue Signalingif you know what I mean

    Fairies like this moved to a red state for a reason, then goes on to disparage those people whom he decided to join.

    • @NotMyName888
      @NotMyName888 ปีที่แล้ว

      People are moving there because it seems beautiful and fun. Being around rednecks like you who still use words like "fairies" is the major con. Good for you tho, you might help keep prices relatively low.
