Man, I don't think I've built light rays with 3D planes in 15 years or so (Although I used to start with regular noise, add a mosaic, then a linear/angle blur--fractal noise is a nice touch)!
It's one of those old school techniques that used to be used by videogame programmers in the 90's, and I've not seen it in a long time!
Easy camera solves breathe new life into an old technique. Nice pull!
You didn't some rather elegant setup on your mattes, too. That's probably the real power tip in this tute.

I can tell you used Video Copilot's free plug-in, Saber, for the like button at the end. Pretty awesome.

um, how do you move the Light rays on 8:50 so quickly? am having hard time on that. what should i press to move that 3d light rays? please halp >.
You don't have to drag the arrows, just click and drag on the layer, also holding Shift makes it move 10x faster
