I'm so glad their original collaborator couldn't make it. I just couldn't imagine this song without Eli doing the highs. Totally epic. His lighting has really gotten to be top notch
Fun background fact: Jose and Cesar went to school together and appeared in high school theatrical productions together. In the behind-the-scenes Cesar was so excited to see his old friend that he went a little bit crazy. Originally Anthony was slotted for this piece but he couldn’t make it out because of Covid travel restrictions. Jose was already home since they closed the production of Hamilton that he was in in Chicago so was able to help out. To me he fits the pirate vibe so much better. I love Anthony’s voice but Jose really clinched it in this. Plus we got to hear Eli do the high tenor part which really called for that rock grit of his.
Yeah, Eli ended up learning the feature part because Jose wasn't comfortable with it, so he took Eli's part. As wonderful as Anthony is, I think this wouldn't have been quite as epic without Eli's rock god top end vocals! Which is also why this is pretty much the only Voiceplay feature arrangement where the featured artist doesn't have much solo work, because he stepped in last minute and took Eli's part!
Eli channeling his "inner pirate/viking" is always a treat 🤩 About Geoff and his range there's nothing to say, he's just a beast 😅 Some think he's even not human 😂🤷🏻♀️ And because of your videos about the beatbox, I appreciate Layne's crazy percussion and "weird noises" even more🎉 They're all soooo talented ❤❤❤
First comment! This was my favorite song before "Valhalla Calling" came out. I actually sleep to this song on repeat. Last year, Jan-Nov, according to Spotify, I listened to it over 43,500 times. And I still listen every night. It's soothing to me, and has a "rocking" (like a chair, not the music) feeling to it. But it's definitely one of their best. I love Jose too, he's a loveable rogue! 💙
Layne has been beatboxing professionally since 2003 so he's gotten very good at it. He does a lot of different techniques and sounds that are unusual or hard for others to do. In their Christmas video "Chipmunk Song/Don't Be Late For Christmas" he did sleigh bells. In "Enemy" he did a very cool inhale note. In Grimm Grinning Ghosts" he did a really amazing chirping type sound. They're all extremely good at voice acting as well. Especially Eli.
I totally agree with you, you take the songs apart well. one of my favorite songs. next to recommend: "Seven Nation Army"!!!!👍👍There is also a lot to marvel at! 😱🤩🫶
I have said this on a different video, but thank you for doing these! I knew Layne was good, but you are giving me the framework to understand just how good. Also, I get to watch "for the first time" again through your eyes.
Don't fret about the sword, Jose makes up for it in Drunken Sailor. It's not that we hadn't heard Eli's rocking beast mode before, but the manic intensity in his face and voice made it out of this world. Reactors were dropping like flies over this one.
New to your channel for a few days and I have to say I love your analysis of acapella groups. I’m a big fan of Home Free and Voiceplay. Different approaches, but both are phenomenal! Thumbs up for me 👍🏻
This was one of the first Voice Plays that got me down the rabbit hole. I love watching others go down same one. Love that your view on them is fairly unique and talking about what Laine (sp) does
This was the first VoicePlay video I saw nearly 3 yrs ago. I was hooked. It is still high on my list. Watch The Charismatic Voice interviewing Layne and his beatboxing in Classical Chaos. He's shows all the voices (since he was the one who did the arrangements) and the incredible different layers of his beatboxing. I know you will love it.
Hola desde Argentina... FENOMENAL= FENOMENOM!... JAJAJAJA! Yo también amo a Voiceplay, hace años los sigo y creo que es el mejor grupo a capella del mundo! Por eso te sigo también... Porque reaccionas mucho a ellos... Gracias! Un abrazo a la distancia!😊
Definitely a top favourite of mine. I'm not sure what you were saying about copyright strikes but VP never do that. Being independent of any company they pay all the copyrights on what they cover, up front, so it's taken care of before it's released. Geoff has said that on Boy Bands in 5 Minuttes they had to pay so many groups royalties that they've never made a cent on that video. I'd like to see you use the sharp side of the sword on your own neck, How would you do that?
It must be the county you're in that makes you cover VoicePlay videos. None of my other reactors that I have watched for years do. VoicePlay is independent and not owned. They have total control over their content. If you don't know. VoicePlay also gets the view count of their videos on your channel. Got that information from Geoff.
Add to that, he would have had to grip the sword in an entirely incorrect hold around the pommel to get the other side of the blade to his neck. Presumably, that is a bit of a 'safety feature' that only the side of the sword that is 'away' from you can cut.
when it’s from a live stream on TH-cam he has to block the video with the chat. The AI algorithms can take down the video. That’s why he puts the chat over the video.
I kinda like the chat where we can see it. We know these videos. We can still see what's going on. But we also get the other side of the livestream conversation, which kinda makes me feel like I'm a part of it, even tho I'm watching it after.
Back when I was in high school, it seemed very important to choose sides; you were either a fan of N'SYNC or Backstreet Boys. With age I realize I don't have to choose. I can like all the things I want and it doesn't diminish the others. Pentatonix and Voiceplay (and Homefree even) are very different groups, with different approaches to music. I can like them all without putting down the others. I simply gravitate to Voiceplay most often because the world is very serious right now, and I could use a whole lot of silly in life to take my mind off of it at times. They are all fantastic groups.
@@maskedmallard537 I think Home Free is awesome and I think Pentatonix is awesome but that also means there are groups I don't like. Not everyone needs to get a trophy all the time. I don't disparage other people from liking what I think is a 3rd rate pretty average sounding group. I never picked one or the other when it came to NSYNC or Backstreet boys because they are both equally talented. This is all just my opinion so in the grand scheme of things I guess none of it really matters
@@sean1849 Mkay, but then, why are you here? If you truly don't like them, why would you do that to yourself? When I come across something I don't like, I just nope out of it and find something I do like. Life's too short to spend time on things that don't bring you joy. I hope you find joy today.
@@maskedmallard537 So do you think there needs to be no criticism in the comments of videos. The world is not always made or rainbows and butterflies. The problem with giving everyone a participation trophy or a ribbon is that it rewards mediocrity.
I'm so glad their original collaborator couldn't make it. I just couldn't imagine this song without Eli doing the highs. Totally epic. His lighting has really gotten to be top notch
Personally I don't think Anthony's voice fit this song anyway. So I'm happy they got Jose. He was perfect.
I love Anthony G., but I have to agree.

Jose has the perfect pirate voice 😉

Or losing their pants, hahah (thinking of Q getting up forgetting he was in his shorts)
"Thats the wrong side of the sword"
You're the first reactor I've ever seen call that out!

I Would like to see him reacting to In The Air Tonight of Voiceplay, he would go crazy about the beat box from layne
I second this!!!
That one will be coming soon. He did a reaction to it in his live stream.

Saw C Voice doing Classical Chaos, Did not see the follow up "art of classical Chaos', going to watch it now. Thanks.
I found voiceplay for this song since I am a fan of pirates of the caribbean and Geoff voice was just awesome to follow them 😅

So much fun - both VP and Klown!! 😂👏
7:03 Dad Joke alert! Ha ha ha, I see what you did there, I got your "point" about the sword! 💙
I love how they create the ebb and flow of the ocean in their arrangement. It almost made me seasick!
TYSM for your VP and GC reactions!! I sooooo look forward to them 😊 Been subbed for awhile now. Just forgot to let you know.
I love that your reactions are bringing praise and respect to beatboxers. Great reaction
Congratulations on keeping your pants on! 😂

Because it’s from a life stream TH-cam could do something though.
Voiceplay doesn't usually cause a copy right strike
awesome, thanks
Fenomenaal = Phenomenal in English. From Belgium myself and use both words often. You´re welcome.
Note also that Layne is singing bass along with Geoff at one point. Not quite a low, but he's definitely got an amazing range.
My favourite voiceplay song by far
Elis C5 at 6:21 is unreal!!!
Thanks Klown 😊
Ur welcome 😊

You must also try the aca group Home Free. Please,!
Their beatboxer, Adam Rupp, has become legendary.
He has done Man of Constant Sorrow, Butts Medley, Ring of Fire and both of Adam Rupp's big solo vids.. Great reactions!
I know it's a joke, but many sabres have a ~1/3 length back edge. So what he does with it, is not completely unrealistic. :D

Layne is freaking awesome, but it's also important to note that he really produces his tracks heavily. Not really meant to be done live as much.
VP doesn't copywrite block!
when it’s from a live stream on TH-cam he has to block the video with the chat. The AI algorithms can take down the video. That’s why he puts the chat over the video.

NO, YOU DON'T GET COPYRIGHT ISSUES WITH VOICEPLAY. PLEASE, REMOVE THE CHAT. THANKS!
He can’t when it’s from a live stream on TH-cam. That’s why he puts the chat over the video.
I wish I could❤️

Epically not interesting. The TEMU version of Pentatonix.
Lol
