When I played this trailer for my 84 year old father I was blown away when he said "Captain Marvel!" and I was like "you know this comic?" and he proceeded to joyfully explain his love of this comic from when he was a child in the 1940s and instantly rattled off Solomon Hercules Atlas Zeus Achilles and Mercury. I was impressed. As far as the costume - Captain Marvel didn't have any specific costume, Billy Batson manifests what he sees a superhero as, so Captain Marvel looks the way a 14 year old boy imagined a superhero to look.

Amy J. Delevingne They are silly fools fooled by the 'vision' of Frank Miller. Honestly, that's when a lot of their content began getting grimdark and away from the hope and light and justice themes they had until then. DC still has the best comics, I think, but yeah they missed a trick with the live action stuff.

I'm 50 years old and I know Shazam since I was a kids watching the Shazam TV show and of course reading the comic book. He was one of my favorite Superhero, a lot of people just don't get him and the weird part is that Shazam was more popular than Superman was in the 40's when he was originally known as Captain Marvel then when Marvel comics sued for the rights of the name and DC had to switch it over to Shazam, his popularity ended, very strange.
What I love the most is that he tells his new friend he has super powers to me that is a very realistic thing that a young kid would do
In the comics the crippled kid ALSO gains the powers of SHAZAM. There's a whole family of them eventually.

Shazam is a supposed to look that way. Shazam is a kid in an adult body. This is a super hero movie. It does get serious but it from how a kid would go about being a superhero in the DC world. Shazam is capable of taking out Superman as he's weak to magic.

I love Shazam from Young Justice TV show, my favourite episode is Misplaced, it just shows Shazam completely. Also I recommend watching the Superman/Shazam movie is you want to get your fix of that team up. It probably won't happen in this movie but I could see it happening in the future.
you are not far off. Shazam's enemy Black Adam has ripped people in two. Black Adam is played by the Rock.

Black Adam is kind of like Doctor Doom. He rules a country that is closed off from the world. In the new 52 he ripped a minor bad guy in half. Been a while he may be different now.

DC isn't much changing....Shazam had a comedy tone in it from the start.
They mean the movies are changing. There's now humor and color and fun. Compared to brooding in the rain with muted colors and questioning your existence.

They're changing in the sense that Man of Steel was a light and optimistic comic turned into a dark and cynical film, while this appears to be a light and optimistic comic turned into a light and optimistic film. They're changing from doing things wrong to doing things right. That's pretty huge, and I think Wonder Woman proved to them that they could do it if they just do it well. They've been really scared to go light and/or goofy because they thought that's why some of their earlier movies failed, when in fact it's all about letting the right person tell the right story. They've hopefully learned now that dark isn't automatically better and that the character, premise and source material has to dictate what kind of movie it should be. They ruined Superman by making him reckless and inconsiderate, and they ruined Batman by throwing away his core principles, all out of fear of being seen as goofy. This movie appears to be unapologetically goofy, and that shows growth. They finally appear to be on the right track, making actual DC movies instead of just releasing meaningless Snyder/Goyer vomit and putting the DC stamp on it.

andrea collins love DC and Marvel comics. The arrowverse i can deal with and the dark knight trilogy is fire but the DCEU needs some serious work.
The Suicide Squad trailer was not that great. I remember the feeling of watching that and compare that to this, and it's just different. You just know this will be good. (But I'm afraid I got the same feeling when watching the Aquaman trailer with that of the SS trailer 😢. Not that worse, but still.)
