@@sailorsandseadogs I have two friends coming down from Norrköping at the moment in an Albin Vega .He thinks Lübeck maybe a better option, but it puts them 45ks behind and the company is better in the keil I’ve told him. I’ve said Cuxhaven and then outside the sharnhorn to williamshaven to connect with the Dutch canals after the canal trip to emden any ideas as they are newbies had the boat for 3months, worried of somerset
The Canal is easy to get through. You must keep the motor on (no actual sailing without motor) and there are limits on speed. The big ships are scary for some, but if you stay in your lane, then everything will be fine. The tougher challenge comes after you go through the locks into the Elbe River to get to Cuxhaven. The Elbe River feels like the North Sea. They should carefully check weather and tides before heading toward Cuxhafen.

Did you consider taking the eider river halfway down the canal
It was not a consideration for us but we know other sailors who took that route

Can’t remember exactly but the boat was 30 years old and we had to do a lot of upgrades
